Welcome to My Good Life
How do you go about finding your purpose if it’s not obvious to you? Is it something you develop naturally over the course of a lifetime? Or are there steps you can take to encourage more purpose in life?\u2028
Everyone's purpose in life is as unique to you as your fingerprint. We all have a particular set of talents, experiences, skill sets, and interests that light us up. If we look at ourselves from a different angle are we able to find purpose that can unlock greater satisfaction and the good life we seek ?
While asking what your purpose is can seem like a lofty question, it’s one I would like to explore.
As I grow older I find myself discovering my purpose through the small things and moving towards, my good life.
I will showcase how I have found purpose in everyday tasks through building my general wellbeing.
Then move on to exploring how friends, colleagues and communities have taken positive steps in their life and realised their, 'Good life'.

Those chanterelles, I envy you. They grew in the forest where I grew up, haven't tasted them in over 50 years.
Thank you so much for watching I truly am appreciative of it. I was so surprised when I discovered this little cluster of chanterelles about 5 years ago and ever since then I have been making sure it's a bit protective. It's really odd it doesn't grow anywhere else but in that patch. I'm so lucky I wish I could share the taste but the only next best thing was to share the experience through the medium.😃🙏
Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate your time and it spurs me on.🙏
Love the green countryside of UK. Will be there in Spring. Thank you.🙏💜
Firstly, thank you so much for watching . I truly appreciate it. The Scottish countryside is beautiful and being in nature after years and years of city living I find it really healing and therapeutic. I am sure you will find spring in the UK so incredibly uplifting too. 🙏☺️

Happy New Year Uzma, we need to get together sometime this year. We’re all too busy. John & Alice. X
Thank you so much for watching and you’re absolutely right this year. We should get together and share our stories. Look forward to it.🙏😘
Terrific video with great tips, Uzma. Thank you. You've spurred me on to give much more attention to self-care during these dark and damp days.
Self-care, like exercising and learning to say no when necessary, is so important. However, I often struggle with both and find them very challenging to practice. This year, I am committing to restarting my walks, whether on a treadmill or outdoors. It’s time to shake off the laziness that tends to creep in during extreme weather.
Hi. What a beautiful market you showcased! Within the first few minutes of your video, I already spotted a few things I loved 😝. You have such a great eye for capturing the charm and details. Thank you for sharing this delightful experience! It’s not easy to resist the pull of our desires and wants-giving in often brings its own kind of joy. Resilience can be challenging, especially when the thrill of impulsive buying feels so satisfying. Thank you for sharing such helpful tips to pause and ask ourselves if we truly need something. A little mindfulness can go a long way! Learning to practice resilience is a journey, it’s not always easy, but it’s essential for growth. Every challenge is an opportunity to strengthen our resolve and build a more grounded self. Now to practice it…….
You have articulated and summarised your learning from this video very well . I am sure you can put that in practise equally well! Thank you so much for watching throughout this year🥰
Thank you for showcasing the charm of Lincoln! Your video beautifully captured the town’s character, history, and cozy vibe. It truly felt like a virtual stroll through its streets. It makes me want to visit someday! Thank you for putting in an effort in your videos and for all the tips you share with your viewers…..your work is much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work! Happy new year!
Thank you so much Zeb for watching and appreciating the videos. It really encourages me to carry on. I truly hope you have a happy start to this year. Wishing you and your family a lot of laughs and good health☺️
Fabulous filming ❤ Thankyou for letting us see a beautiful city through your eyes .. and the cathedral and castle for free! Quite magnificent. I, for one, have loved all your vids from this year- giving us good advice and the encouragement we all so need. Your tips and suggestions have made a difference to my life as I reflect and try to plan better, congratulate myself on what I have achieved, all whilst being utterly inspired by your creativity and all your thoughts and musings. Thankyou, Uzma. Wishing you and your lovely cameraman a very Happy New Year when it comes 🥰🥰🎉
Thank you so much, Alice. Camera man will be chuffed to hear that you enjoyed the filming. Look forward to bringing you great content in 2025. Until then hope you, yours and family have a great start to the New Year. Lots of love Uzma and cameraman.Xx❤️💕
Great tips, Uzma. I’m so glad you found a lovely coal scuttle, vase and necklace thingy that you liked. You showed extraordinary resilience just staying there so long on a dreich day. I shall bear your tips in mind when I’m next surrounded by tables of delicious junk!
Thank you so much 😊 Believe me if you don't go with a list, the treasures will draw you in.
Hello Uzma, I just clicked on the November vid link thinking I had somehow missed watching it. But of course I hadn’t. As I was drawn in to your excellent introduction again, I found myself compelled to watch November.. again :) 0:28 I was appalled at how little I had followed your good advice… why didn’t I? It was so carefully dispensed and I knew it was The Answer to at least some of my problems. Now I am stressed to the max because of not PAUSING, REFLECTING and journaling or planning our holiday season as you suggested. I think i simply forgot. Aaaggghhhh! My INTENTION (as opposed to New Year’s resolution 2025) is to take up your advice next November and do what you advised this November! If only I had started earlier in a calm planned way. Ok. Maybe you’ve anticipated that in your December vid which I am now eager to watch for more clever life advice!!
The second you can say no to others you realise you can float through life 🙌✨ it seems like such an awful, overwhelming thing sometimes. But start small and see how much respect you earn from others and especially yourself. Amazing!
Exactly. You don’t have to be everything for everyone, you are enough as you are, and you are worthy of saying no, to give yourself the space you need to grow and be happy. Cheers to saying yes when it feels good, and saying no when you need to focus on you.xx😍
Lovely Uzma ☺️ My november was full of gratitude journaling and quiet evenings my new hubby. Great month of slowing down and reflecting 😘
Thanks so much Lindsay for watching and embracing some of my tips. It means a lot to me when I hear such positive comments. It spurs me on, to continue sharing my experience and learnings.🥰
Such a good idea to use November’s energy to reflect on Novembery things.. while many creatures disappear into dark holes for the winter, we can also be retreating and taking time to reflect. In a positive way, yes 🙌 Thankyou as ever, Uzma- I love how you remind us what deep in our psyche we know to be true if we would only take the time to think 0:02 ! And I would have liked a wee glimpse of that watercolour 😘 before the tide chased you up and away 😃
Thank you so much for watching and your insightful comment. You’re so right to link it to wildlife. I hadn’t thought of that . See everyday is a learning curve, even for me! I’ll show you the watercolour maybe in my next video. Till then take care , lots of love.X
Hi Uzma. I ‘m sorry to hear you’ve been unwell, but it’s wonderful to see that you’re on the mend. Having recently gone through something similar myself, I found that plenty of rest, along with hot water with lemon, ginger, and honey, worked wonders. Sometimes, our bodies tire from daily demands and use these moments to remind us to pause, allowing us to rest and recharge on the path back to wellness. Your garden looks fabulous in the autumn colours- wishing you a speedy return to full health! Lots of love.
Hi Zeb, thanks so much for watching but more importantly thank you for your kind words. You’re so right taking time just to pause and give space to our body is s🥲vital ☺️
Hey Uzma, I loved this video as I got to see your amazing garden and the beautiful autumn colours! The tips you gave are simple but effective, sometimes we have to slow down, listen to our body and be kind to ourselves. ❤
Thanks for watching Sam. I just loved that yellow vibrancy of autumn and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to just be outside. Being in nature in it itself is healing.😊
Oh Uzma, you have been through the wars, poor you. Glad you had the good sense to know to rest. Very impressed with the breathing exercises- I always find these difficult to maintain.. best tip: someone bringing you cups of tea while you’re flat on your back! Always a fabulous treat! 😘 Good advice as ever from your little vid and yes, aren’t the Autumn colours truly magnificent? So heeeealing. Lots of love and hugs xxx
Thanks Alice for watching. You are so right, just having someone do anything when I’m ill is a treat!! Honestly the vibrancy of fall colours never ceases to amaze me and I find it really healing ! ☺️
Hi Uzma. “Setting the reset button” is a powerful metaphor for taking intentional action to refresh one’s mindset, energy, or perspective. The two ways that you mentioned here (exploring your surroundings or people watching) both are great reset options. You are so right, either way, taking time for these small moments helps restore balance. Watching this video reminded me of our little stroll together in your city. What a perfect ‘reset’ that moment was for us - a peaceful pause from everything, and such a lovely time to reconnect! 🙏🏻
Hi Zeb you are so right. As I was doing this video I had very positive flashbacks of our time and I think this video captures that very essence you have so rightly noticed.
What a good idea! Thankyou Uzma. Wish I’d known you 40 years ago 😘
Thank you so much Alice for watching and your very kind comment!!
Hi Uzma, you are absolutely right about settling back gently into the daily routine, by reflecting and reliving the experience through photos, videos, or through souvenirs from the trip. And by connecting with others by sharing our experiences with friends & family. Also one needs to practice gratitude by being grateful for the opportunity to travel and cherishing the memories of one’s trip. Not everyone is that blessed. The flowers in your garden, the changing colours of the leaves, the wind chimes, the benches, the little Cauliflowers……your garden is a true sanctuary, exuding rustic charm and tranquility at every turn. ❤
Thank you so much for watching and your poetic way of summarising. Its wonderful! As summer begins to end it seems like the plants give that one big push and explode into life, I truly feel blessed living in nature and just watching the changes! Thanks.🙏
Thank you for showing us Vilnius. It is new to me. Exploring a new city by walking around and allowing yourself to get “lost” is one of the most immersive and rewarding ways to experience its essence. One can create one’s own path, feel the city’s atmosphere, appreciate the details, connect with the history and foster a sense of adventure. In a world that often prioritizes speed and efficiency, taking things slowly reminds us that not everything valuable can be measured by how quickly it’s accomplished. Instead, the real value often lies in the depth of one’s engagement, the quality of one’s observations, and the lasting memories you create. Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you once again @zebhk for your insightful comments. Honestly to take the time and reflect as you have done just spurs me on in believing that my videos have a positive purpose ! Thank you so much!
It’s amazing. I came across this accidentally, probably that’s not correct . I enjoyed watching it . I am a psychologist . We could explore synergy.
Thank you so much for your kind words and appreciating the videos. Would absolutely like to explore that !
Planting a tree….happiness! It seemed like a lot of fun with a fruitful purpose! You two made me feel like jumping in to help. :) How is the Walnut tree doing?
Thanks for watching. That Walnut tree has given about 20 nuts last year. it’s a bit early for the nuts but I’m hoping it’s going to give lots more nuts as the years go by.
Enjoyed this travelogue! The way you described the little gingerbread shop, I could almost smell the wonderful fragrance of the cookies through my screen! 🤤 Ahhh…..The Daffodil Garden…….William Wordsworth! That reminded me of one of my fav poems by him. I will share it here with you: I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way, They stretched in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company: I gazed-and gazed-but little thought What wealth the show to me had brought: For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.
That is so wonderful thank you so much Zeba for sharing this wonderful poem. I’m going to treasure it. You’re right about the gingerbread!!
@@mygoodlife9725 The last stanza of the poem.……❤️
I am glad to be a part of your RUclips community now. Happy to watch, learn and comment! Keep on teaching us how to take care of ourselves, to learn and to grow. 🤗
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words , much appreciated !
I enjoyed seeing a bit of this charming and delightful little town through your lens. Thank you for sharing it with us. You are so right about not feeling how much one has walked when exploring a new place or a city. The excitement and curiosity often overshadows the physical exertion of walking. The novelty of the surroundings engages the mind, creating a sense of flow where time and effort seem to disappear. The power of curiosity and novelty keeps our minds going.
It’s on my bucket list!! You are a born Travelogger. Love these travel logs. Xx
You should it’s a great place . Thank you so much for watching and your lovely comment, which really motivates me. Next travel video coming out very very shortly. It may inspire you to take an extended trip to the Baltic area!! X
“Allowing for changes…. to not allow that action become a chore”…… 👏🏻 👏🏻 will try to keep that with me when something that needs to be done seems like a huge chore. Thank you!
Love that!
Great tips. This motivates me to go organize my stuff but the problem I have is that my “maybe” section is always bigger than my “throw” pile! The question is how to bring oneself to get rid of the maybe pile especially if it’s clothing. Because one always thinks that either I will use it again once I loose some weight and or the fashion will come back in a few years…..
Hi Zebhk, thanks for watching and your thoughtful comments. My idea is if it’s in the maybe pile then maybe I need to change. If I can’t get rid of something because of sentimental value . I say to my self. ‘ will put in the cupboard for 6-8 months if I haven’t used it by then or changed then I must give it away!!
Oh wow! That’s quite a talent you have got there! ! Nature’s intricacies. Something that looks so simple to the eye is so complicated, much like the silence within us.
Thank you so much 😀
Hi. That came out beautiful. The wreath, though, seemed quite difficult in the making at first, just like the circle of life, turned out to be okay. To me it somehow mirrored the complexities and challenges of the circle of life. At times difficult and at times getting easier….
You are so right. I still have that wreath and am hoping this Christmas to show how you can continue to add to it...just like life.. twists and turns!!
Hi. Love your calm and soothing way of talking and explaining. You are absolutely right about traveling. Travel and short breaks provide opportunities for growth, reflection, and joy, contributing to a more balanced, creative and an enriched life. Not only does it have a profound impact on one’s soul but it also gives one a sense of renewal and rejuvenation, breaking the monotony of daily routines. Maybe that’s why I absolutely love traveling and if I could choose only one thing to do in life all the time, it would be to travel! Wishful thinking! :)
Hi 'zebhk' thanks so much for watching , truly appreciate all the support. There's a famous quote; 'The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.' Have a great day!
@@mygoodlife9725 well said!
This was a lovely video to watch. You made me revisit Bordeaux and I got to see it through your eyes this time. Thank you! Missed that bakery as I didn’t know about it but will remember to go there if we somehow end up in that city ever again. So many places to see, not enough time. Having lived in the south of France, I know what a beautiful country it is and how special their culinary scene is. Ahh the boulangeries and their baguettes, the croissants and the desserts are to die for. You have to visit other parts of France when you can, as I am sure you will love it!
Thanks so much 'Zebhk' for watching and your thoughtful comments. Glad you now have another reason to visit this place and maybe I will be hanging out at there with a bag full of croissants to share!!!
Halo my dear. how are you’ll. Long time go l see you.
Thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it

Thank you so much Keir for watching and the kind words🙏
Love the gardens you visited and the music with it.. this little video slowed my head right down and gave me some wonderful peaceful Ma..Thankyou! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you. The whole concept of MA is about slowing everything down to enjoy and then carry on with renewed inspiration and zest!!
Loved this Uzma, all the things you talk about, negative space, stillness, balance, staying in the moment, being present. Ipractice in my yoga daily and teach others around me. Stillness is something people struggle with, this is a wonderful video and will visit these gardens some day ❤
Thank you so much Sam for your kind words . You’re absolutely right yoga teaches aspects of MA, so well and I’m glad that you found my video insightful. The garden is really wonderful and I highly recommend it!😊
Beautiful filming, Uzma ❤ Thankyou for sharing.. I feel like I’ve visited there now though I don’t believe I ever have. Not in my current life, to my knowledge. The names- Castle Tioram - dry castle- and Loch Aline - beautiful loch- so apt. I hope you had a thoroughly refreshing time. I totally agree that a break away is actually much more beneficial than scanning a series of postcards of the place #thethirdpoliceman if you remember that crazy book by Flann O’Brien which I totally recommend by the way for it’s crazy mad philosophy. We once had a silly conversation with the late Duke of Edinburgh- my husband (randomly) commented, ‘I’ve heard it say that God was short of earth when he built Ardnamurchan’ to which the Duke replied, gesticulating this way and that with his arms, ‘Well, if it was all a bit more this way And a bit more that way, it would all be the same place’ 🤪
Thank you for watching Alice. What a wonderful story and a reminder. I will answer as Flann O brain began his ,,,"I was born a long time ago…” .Maybe that is why when I travel I allow myself to look at things as they are and allow history to tell its own story!! Sometimes it makes sense and sometimes ...🤔
Hey Uzma, The views are stunning and I love the music, thank you for sharing this hidden gem ❤
Sam, thank you so much for watching and your appreciation of the music😍
Hi Nicolas, my sincere apologies I will correct this by the end of the weekend. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend your place.
Fantastic professional advice from Uzma again. I think I should put a poster up on the bathroom saying, ‘Before you REACT, REFLECT REFLECT REFLECT!’ because it’s so very easy to forget all wisdom in the moment and be the same old dummy, thinking, saying, reacting in that oh so familiar regrettable way. Thankyou, Uzma.
Alice thanks so much for watching . You have given me food for thought, maybe I should get a t-shirt made that says it in the next few videos!!☺️
So clear, so structured.. all makes such good sense. And it’s great having my very own personal psych! ❤
It means a great deal when you say my video came across well, thank you . I try and work on the premise what would I want to know now to help me through .. 🌸🙏!
