Waterfall "Veil of the Bride" near Florö
A short video of the waterfall "Brudesløret" - which means the veil of the bride. This beautiful waterfall is about 13 km west of the town of Florö in western Norway. The water falls 110 meters into the little lake Haukovatnet. This waterfall is particularly nice and there is a parking place just opposite of the waterfall.
I am still waiting for replacement of my pc. I hope to get it by end of next week and be able to set it up and start producing new videos for you. Please bear with me and have some patience.

    The Norwegian government should explore more options for tunnel digging. As politics has postponed this project, and the focus and large tax money distribution now goes to Gaza, it time to invite the world’s best tunnel diggers to Norway, and it could mean peace in the Middle East too. In addition to the Stad tunnel, there are need for much more tunnel digging in this country. Norway already takes advantage of guest workers from Nepal, to build walk pats / steps to the city mountains. Cut the BS of politics, delaying such hands-on tunnel projects, and we have long lasting results and peace in the world. Any culture and languages for part-time workers are of no discrimination here. The ancient Egyptians did it, why not modern Vikings ?

    I enjoy watching your steaming through hard weather, as much as doing it myself in my 1978 36’ Classic, but I would like more context: what RPM you are running the engines, speed over ground, wave height and wind speed. Perhaps you could show your display occasionally or describe conditions as you encounter them. In those terms, what do you consider unsafe conditions?

    • @cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48
      @cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48 2 месяца назад

      The voyage to Norway was back in 2022, after I had bought the GB in France. But I will take your advice and show some more times the instruments when I make new videos from my Norwegian tours. To the context: Engines are 2 Perkins Sabre M135 from 2012, they have now ca. 1800 hrs. During my voyage to Norway I run them usually with around 1600 RPM giving mit a speed o.g. of 7 - 9 kt. The waves in western France were probably around 1.5 meters at highest. We encountered some of about 2 meters in Scotland :-( , but I do not have a video of that, I was too occupied to keep the boat on course. It is difficult to say generally, what I consider as unsafe conditions, but with my boat it would probably be waves of more than 3 meters. But crossing waves (as we had in Scotland) are very dangerous even if smaller as the boat rocks to all directions. Hope I got some of your questions answered, but you are welcome to ask more. Kind regards Dieter

Gruss Dieter

    Hoi Dieter, well done! To determine center of gravity is a vital calculation particularly on a boat with high superstructure like many yachts and trawlers have. Also to point out the necessity to be aware of movement of fuel in the tanks. Some tanks have dividers to restrict movement and important thing to know! To top them up is usually the proper way to go, safety is more important than economics! Maybe at one point you have the opportunity to do an interview with a ship architect who could explain how it affects roll and beyond what point it becomes dangerous? Maybe a guy even finds some data about it in the ships manual, I don‘t know? On airplanes it is required. For a pilot it is part of required preflight check to do a weight and balance calculation. So far I have never seen a yacht owner addressing those rather important issues! Looking forward to your next video! 👏👍

      Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, I think, stability considerations as very important. Sitting on the flybridge with waves coming in (once we had very large waves from a lifeboat of the Norwegian Lifeboat Association that rushed by) is an adventure and then it is good to know, that boat stability is secure. As my GB 36 is already 50 years of age, there are hardly any plans available about stability calculations. I hope you will follow my videos also in future and enjoy them. regards from Norway, Dieter

      Dieter, given the fact that you like to reach 1000 subscribers asap, if it would be me, I would try to do the following: Grand Banks is likely the most popular Trawler brand out there, for good reason! 1. Is there an association? Or are there any FB groups of owners and enthusiasts? What do they talk about? Maintenance, Travel…? Maybe they like to show their baby & their big pride their Grand Banks or perhaps they like to exchange tips and tricks? That needs to be researched! That would be one way to build up subscribers if you could cater to a group like this. I‘m a retiree who loves to follow adventures of your kind another group of potential subscribers!😉 Here some RUclipsrs I have subscribed to: MAGIC CARPET, FAIR ISLE, FOLLOW THE BOAT, ESCAPE TO RURAL FRANCE, THE CHATEAU DIARIES this are some very successful RUclipsrs, always interesting to have a glance at how they do it! Cool concept, and it would without doubt be a tourist attraction. And make sea transport safer and more predictable in bad weather. But: if the government (or more correct: the tax payers) have a limited amount of money, they should prioritize. Should the money be spent on a ship tunnel or for example road safety that can save many lives.

    • @cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48
      @cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48 4 месяца назад

      Well, the National Transportation Plan for the next 10 years has earmarked ca. 130 billion US$ for all traffic, sea and land. And the biggest part is for streets (repair and some new construction), only a small part is to be used for the sea traffic, one project is this shipstunnel. This has now been allotet 320 million US$ for the next 6 years. BUT this does not yet mean, that such funds really get included in the actual yearly budget ...

      Why should there be 2 tunnels? One tunnel will have enough capacity for the current ships traffic. 2 tunnels would be way too expensive. It is planned, that ships and boats can use the tunnel free of charge.

      @@cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48 Hello So the Boats would pass in a caravan, like in Egypt. You will find out that new Traffic-routes create traffic. Such routes are usually a huge benefit for economy, as you pointed out yourself. And they are most likely to create entirely new traffic. Would you be so kind to tell us about the traffic-estimations ? I have no clue how the people of Norway think about this project, my guess is that at some amount a desire for less could rise. What is the fish-breeders opinion on rising traffic ? ( As more propellers in the water mean more stress and more dirt for the fish )

    well, you probably made the video the other day, but if you had waited 1 day. You would find out that the government have allocated and prioritized the money. You should probably add that correction into you description

      It is correct, that 3.2 billion Norwegian Kroner are allocated in the new National Transport Plan for the years 2025 - 2030. But it is also said that they want to see, what offers of potential contractors will show. 2024 said the Kystverket (national coast admin) that they calculated it would cost 4.09 billion. So there is a serious question, what happens, if the offers are more expensive than the 3.2 billion that are in the NTP. My fears are therefore still justfied.

    Very short sighted in delaying this. It will always become more expensive. The long term benefit will be enormous. Typical politicians only funding projects that can be finished in their term.

      Thanks, there will be more videos coming 😊 To your questions... 1. 2 Perkins of 2012, non-turbo, ca 6000 cc 2. While traveling to Norway, we cruised usually at 1600 RPM 3. Speed with this was around 8 knots 4. Total fuel consumption (both engines together) with this was about 12 - 13 liter per hour Here in Norway, I cruise with 1400 RPM, 6-7 kt, 8 Liter / h Regards Dieter

      There was no special ceremony, but we did have a drink on the new name 😃 The selenoid was from the anchor winch and really rusty. The seller promissed to exchange it with a new one, but only cleaned it a bit. Home in Norway, I installed a new one.

    Do you have a safety rope on your anchor when doing a passage?

    • @cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48
      @cruisinggrandbanks36whiteh48 4 месяца назад

      There is a chain holding the anchor at the bow. But, perhaps you have noticed it :-) it was not fastened, when we crossed the English Channel. It took some days, until I noticed this. But the anchor chain itself was also blocked with a U-type lock that prevents the chain to run out of the chain box and that was always on.

      Ja, manchmal muss man mit grösseren Wellen rechnen, aber meist kann das ja vermieden werden, wenn man gar nicht erst rausfährt. In diesem Fall waren die Wellen zwar unerwartet, aber immer noch innerhalb der Toleranzgrenze.
