The style of delivery of his views is strong and god like, this is how it is, and he appears spot on describing American hegemony and much else, but in my view he should review his views on China by going there and talking with influential Chinese similar Professors etc.

No nuclear escalation Professor. Just "limited tactical strikes to accelerate peace talks". Any kind of escalation would be on part of US and the rest of NATO. NATO has more GDP and larger population than Russia. That means NATO has a lot more to lose in total nuclear war.

John Mearsheimer is supposed to be an international policy master. I don’t buy any of his narrative here. His characterization of Russia as an industrial powerhouse is nonsense. They don’t produce huge numbers of anything. Their armory of munitions is depleted and they trade sanctioned resources they can’t sell for artillery and missiles from North Korea. They don’t produce huge numbers of aircraft or tanks. What they have is old and of limited capability. They must use aircraft and tanks from the late Soviet era and save the limited supply of their most advanced weapons for a possible conflict with NATO. The ground war in Ukraine bears a superficial resemblance to WWI due to trench warfare but remote controlled drones and western supplied aircraft and missiles are way past WWI technology. Putin never brought Russia back from the dead. We now know that Russia is a shell of its former self that has been severely undermined by a corrupt oligarchy that has rendered its military capabilities all but useless. Its youth is being fed into the meat grinder of the Ukraine war. Its only vestige of power are its nuclear weapons which could very well be as compromised as its weaponry. Its only commercial resources are fossil fuel reserves the sale of which has been severely limited and being bartered below market value for military consumable goods. I could go on but I’m amazed at the shabby case Mearsheimer makes for what he is claiming to be the nature of the multipolar power balance he describes. I’m not saying there isn’t validity to it but I don’t buy a lot of what he says.
