Labeled exists to capture, create, and share the special experiences of the scene.
The aggressive music community and culture have created a positive environment for millions of people to grow and develop and explore the world on their own terms and apart from the mainstream culture. Episode 9 - "Numb" and Tim McTague
In this episode, Tim discusses the artistic expression of Underoath and its unique intersection with commercialism and how people, teams, labels, publicists and other forces have and haven't influenced their trajectory of their career.

"We're All Gonna Die” and Spencer Chamberlain
Просмотров 4482 года назад
In this conversation, Spencer and I discuss some of the most brutal lyrics on the record and the experiences that led him to write them. This song is one of the most brutal on the album and my personal favorite. No Oasis - Is the Juice Worth The Squeeze? w/ Aaron Gillespie
Просмотров 4632 года назад
There are 2 dominant mindsets that drive the creation of Underoath's creative process. One is the in the moment spontaneous magic and feel that instantly connects people. The other is a slow and deliberate process of contextualizing that magic and using it to push new boundaries. The mindsets are complimentary but also competitive and work together like pedals on a bike. In this episode, Aaron ...
Lee Humerian: Tooth & Nail Kid In Ukraine
Просмотров 2052 года назад
Lee Humerian was the drummer for Phinehas for nearly a decade. He is a very classic stereotype of a Tooth & Nail kid who followed his passion for music, energy and mission for God. Lee was drawn from music into full-time missions landing him in Ukraine in 2014. He and his family have made a home and life there during the escalating conflict over the last few years. I felt this was a great oppor...
Haste The Day Part II: Stephen Keech Walking into Dream Come True
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 года назад
This episode is a continuation of the previous Haste The Day chapter with Jimmy Ryan, who was not a Tooth & Nail kid but found his way into the scene. Jimmy helped build a legendary Solid State band and then walked away from his dream. This left a giant hole which provided the opportunity for a Tooth & Nail kid if there ever was one, the multi-talented Stephen Keech, to walk into to a fairytale...
Episode 4- Spencer Chamberlain & “Cycle”
Просмотров 24 тыс.2 года назад
In the last episode we heard Aaron and Spencer talk about their personal and collaborative relationship. In this discussion we move deeper into the lyrical creation process. This song has very dark themes to it and Spencer opens up to explore the fear that we are doomed to repeat our mistakes. We also discuss the song construction and the collaboration with Ghostemane. Please spread the word ab...
Ivoryline, Swept Away | Labeled: The Stories, Rumors, & Legends of Tooth & Nail Records
Просмотров 1 тыс.2 года назад
Ivoryline is one of those bands that accomplished a lot in a short time but due to the circumstances of reality did not have a career that was able to reach its full maturity. Their fairly short run gives us all that feeling of slight tragedy but also leaves us with a nostalgic feeling of what might have been or still could be. Ivoryline did 2 amazing records with Aaron Sprinkle, had rock radio...
Haste The Day: Jimmy Ryan Tour Dad | Labeled: The Stories, Rumors, & Legends of Tooth & Nail Records
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.2 года назад
Jimmy Ryan, the original lead singer of Haste The Day, is in a rare category. His band was a breakout hit in the pinnacle of the Tooth & Nail/Solid State golden age, but Jimmy was NOT a Tooth & Nail kid. The rest of his band certainly were as they were youth group kids from a nice Indianapolis suburb when they joined forces with Jimmy. He was considerably older than them and, for better or wors...

Further Seems Forever's The Moon is Down is one of the most influential albums in the entire Tooth & Nail catalog. Of course it is a fan favorite, but this one also checks the box in a big way as a named influence by countless artists, drummers, guitarists, song arrangers, and vocalists. Many of whom cite this album as helping them expand their minds to new possibilities and causing them to hav...
Episode 2 - “Hallelujah” Aaron Gillespie on Creating
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.2 года назад
This episode explores the song “Hallelujah" through the mind of Aaron Gillespie. Aaron Gillespie is a one of a kind talent and an icon in the emo/hardcore scene. He is able to exert an extreme amount of both energy and emotional feeling as a singer, drummer and writer. He formed Underoath alongside Dallas Taylor in 1997 at 15 and has spent the last 25 years collaborating and chasing the magic o...

Resonance by Mad at gravity, Scarlet’s this was always meant to fall apart and beloved’s failure on are three of my absolute favorite albums from bands that absolutely should have made more
13:26 "oh my gosh you sound like Zao" 😆. I'm curious what technique Jimmy and Dan use to sound like a cast iron skillet dropped into 5 garbage disposals. By far some of my favorite unclean vocals... Jeff from Carcass and Bryan from Thou also seem to have a similar register/technique.
Just wanted thank u a lot looked up to u a lot and I been shugglimg and just all ur tunes everything has helped me along the way
I met them in McAllen when they opened up for Aiden at Cine El Rey. I hope you are doing well Jeremy! ❤
Fuck yes trenches is amazing...jimmy and joel killed it😊
We need you jimmy...
Thank you for doing this. I still listen to Ivoryline all the time. Thank you for sharing your story and experiences with us. I still hope to hear new music at some point, but even if that never happens, I'm content. n_n
Can't believe I got to see Beloved and Dead Poetic in early 2000s in the UK on the same bill. This performance is mind blowing
One of the all time great albums. Still listening to Failure On regularly since the day it came out. Nothing else like it back then or now.
This brought back so many memories of loss and joy at the same time. Tears are sweeping my eyes. Some of the toughest times in my life happened when you guys put this album out. I can’t ever thank you enough nor can I say enough heartfelt things to make it whole. From my heart to yours, I’m grateful.
we miss BELOVED💥
Thank you for the interview. Watched it with my friend who is just a few years out from the drug street life. My friend is a metal guitarist and he said, “I love this guys smile and he is real.” It reached into his heart with the love of Jesus.
Can I be in your band
Love this. Josh sounds super good.
First: how does this only have 20k views? This is phenomenal. Second: your Furnace Fest show was the highlight of the festival for me and I’ll never forget it. It was beautiful art. Thanks for pouring yourselves into this music and giving it to us. I am forever grateful. I got chills multiple times watching this. Much love!
You guys really made me feel like I could do Music on my own Terms (aka my Life)🎉
Absolute LEGENDS.
I'm so glad this band existed. Thank you Jesus for bringing them together for a time so we could all listen to their music!
Wow this makes me want to come get tattooed/possibly guest spot so bad.
Man, I'm so glad this is up. I hate I missed this show.
Please make a Live album with these songs :,) they all sound soo good !!!!
One of the main reasons I got involved in music and grew up listening to Christian music. Huge nostalgia!!!
Inner pattern is such an amazing song !!!!!! No matter what key it is . Always gets me hyped . Love it
I still can't get over the fact Josh didn't take Classic Case more serious... That band was fire!
Only problem with the video not enough footage of the bass player
Cried multiple times watching this. This band means so much to me.
2024. 51 years old. I still listen to BELOVED.
Super nice guys. I remember them staying overnight at my buddies place and mine when they visited minnesota at times. My friend Tom had a clothing line
Greatness
Grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and it was a HUGE DEAL when I could find your albums for sale at Best Buy. Thankfully, my family was a bit different and I understood that having a CD somewhere prominent vs actually finding financial independence in your album sales was absolute crap compared to what they were pulling in to the publishers. Still, never stopped me from trying to get to one of you or Underoath's shows. I remember seeing footage from a show of Beloved's in like 20p resolution and was SO EXCITED to hear the live, choppy, totally screwed up audio mix on that feed. I was hardly so happy to see another community's scene take off than yours.
You can tell why this band was successful and all of the great music that came out of it. Great members. I love pressure the hinges and attack of the wolf king. I’m glad Stephen mentioned Gnaw. That song is brutal and unique.
Interesting that Randy from Scarlet did guitars on Dreamer yet he’s not credited on their Wikipedia page. Does anyone have the album and does it credit him? Not that I don’t believe Stephen haha but I’m just curious
Beloved is Beloved. Huge inspiration to my early band years in the early 2000's. Thank you guys. Your sound is cemented into my mind and soul.
Jimmy could do a great lead for A.A. I would love to hear it
I was at the solid state tour- April 1,2004 at the Emerson Theater in Indianapolis…..best show I’ve ever seen, and I think the tickets were like 11 bucks. I would pay $500 to see that same lineup (though HTD was 3rd in the lineup that night as I recall)
Listening to this podcast one day before Haste The Day's one time reunion show in Indiana. 💪🏻
Seen them on the Friday night and OH MY GOSH it was such a great show!
This is awesome! Got into Beloved back in 03 when they opened for Norma Jean and Figure Four in Guelph Ontario Canada. Never heard them before but instantly fell in love with them.
I have to disagree with jimmy. Haste the day is my all time favorite band periodt…but only with jimmy. Maybe they branched out musically after jimmy left, but the sound was never the same. The guitar/singing Melodie’s weren’t as great, transitions were shit. I couldn’t even listen to the albums (I just tried again). Such a shame because I loved the music so much and I am extremely picky.
To this day, one of the best bands I had the privilege of seeing, all the way back in 2004 at St Andrews Hall in Detroit. They opened for Underoath and Norma Jean but were by far the best sounding on the bill. Failure On is a masterpiece of the genre
So great to hear all those stories, I was there in that show in Houston he mentioned, first time I heard them! Great story bro!
Jimmy will always hold the torch as the king of metal vocals in my book. An unmistakable an undeniably unique sound. Unfortunately, I didn't come into the metal scene until around 2005/2006, it truly hurts my soul that I never got to see Jimmy Ryan with Haste the Day. I just recently had a conversation with a good buddy of mine about this and its a pretty big miss for both of us. So, for now, I've ordered two copies of Haste the Day vs. Haste the Day and will be scheduling a watch party. This was a great interview. It's always fun to learn about your favorite musicians, where they come from, and where they've been.
So glad this came out because I never got to see beloved back in the day and I still listen to failure on front to back probably weekly. Always wondered what happened to these guys, even tried to find them on a few platforms. Good to see they are doing well and still sound amazing!
Thank you for this, I'm from india and loved listening to Ivoryline, it's my favorite band of all time
Love ivoryline i wish they would come back together tyler native here
Thank you for uploading this quality live performance 🙏 Failure On is a really great album, still listening to this day.
I was fortunate enough to see them with My Chemical Romance and Avenged Sevenfold in 2003 in Atlanta, GA at The Cotton Club. They still sound incredible and I still enjoy listening to this album today.
I still get a euphoric feeling every time I think back to Furnace Fest 2021 and seeing Beloved for the first and most likely only time. 🥲
I told myself that if Beloved ever got back together for a show, I'd be there, no matter where it was. Saw them at Furnace Fest in Alabama and I love in California. Would do it again many times over. Thank you guys so very much
I’ll never forget the 2 times I met Jimmy Ryan. The first Time was in Portland Oregon in 2002 I believe by the venue called The Meow Meow. Haste The Day was “nobody”-they’d just signed and released an album they were touring on. Nobody really knew them. But their performance was tight and catchy. They grew quick. My experience with Jimmy was when I was talking to them pre show and he invited me upstairs to sit with them and even share their tour meal Lasagna. One thing I remember to is when I saw that lasagna it looks like the worst most grossest terrible thing ever, and that venue was like the pit of hell typical disgusting dark, black, dreary metal indie music venue (many of which that you would find in Portland). Jimmy genuinely loves people. He talks to you like you’re already one of his close friends. He looks at you like you are important. Jimmy really blessed my heart and there was something so loving and genuine and brotherly comrade about him that has blessed my heart and even now 20 years later still brings me to tears. Jimmy was a guy I met a second time and he remembered our first interaction from years before. He was excited to tell me about his cool new hair color Lol. He was a really fun guy and when he performs he looks at you in the eyes like he is speaking to you genuinely. He is one-of-a-kind and a blessing to the earth. I pray he is still being used today to love on humanity with the love of God‘s heart inside himself. -Jesse
Ivoryline is one of my favorite bands of all time, and while I terribly miss the hope of more music from them, I totally respect and understand Jeremy's reasoning for his decision and admire that because not many people would sacrifice "their dream" (when really there's many dreams and many adventures to choose from!) to save their marriage. That legacy of raising your children together will live on more vividly and powerfully than a song could ever capture! I do wish Jeremy would share some songs of his own with the world, even if they're just him and his guitar, because I miss his voice in song he is very talented as a singer, but I am happy for him to be working in a job he gets to use his voice in some way. Jeremy we are hoping fingers crossed for some kind of acoustic ep from you man, some day!! God bless you and your family! ❤
