Can I modernize my 1983 Porsche 944?

I attempt to install a Banvie Passive Keyless Entry system, Apple CarPlay (& Android Auto) stereo, and backup camera. I also refresh the interior with fiberglass dash repairs, Sparco seats, new floor mats, and several other small touches.
1973 Kawasaki H1 Scrambler - Front End Rebuild
Просмотров 814Год назад
Sadly, all of the footage of me tearing down the front end and rebuilding the forks and triple trees is missing. The beginning and end of this video is about 6 weeks apart. Next step for the H1 Scrambler is to modify the rear of the frame for the seat (and hopefully I won't lose that footage)! The thumbnail is posted to my Instagram: pC1GQ7aOLXRe/?igshid=ZTcxMWMzOWQ1OA

FL250 Salsbury Clutch Disassembly & Assembly
Do you know where i can buy new rollers for that clutch ?
Unfortunately, I do not.
Try oddatv.com or eBay. There's currently a kit on eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/372136603206
Yeouch.
Hey where did you get the yellow headlights from?
Amazon probably - search for 7" amber headlights.

I love modernizing things lolo specially cars, i have a 87 944s that will some cool mods lolo
One of the biggest reasons i love my 944 so much is that everything is analog. you can’t get that in a new car nowadays no matter how much you’re willing to pay. 😅
Great video i just brought one and it makes my golf take off without me how can i stop it from engaging at idle?
Thank you! It sounds like the springs may be worn or broken, idle is too high, or the belt might be out of adjustment?
@@JeffIsaac everything is brand new I turned the idle all the way down I made sure the backs are lined up and it still takes off I'm thinking maybe I should buy screws and weights to adjust it but I don't know where to get them
@@burtonexoticbullies.2313 I don't have a ton of experience with FL250s, but I do know that they will start to drive at idle, so I have always been told to have my hand on the brake when idling.
Link to those visor clips?
I think they were these: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/sunvisor-sun-visor-bracket-clip-for-porsche-924-944-968
i have a few 250 2 cylinders yds250, they are 2 cylinder im about to rebuild them
Good work that's not for the feint of heart. We are troubleshooting a couple of wiring gremlins on our 944 over here by Clackamas Town Center.
Good luck! Hopefully it's nothing too difficult to troubleshoot.
I hope that it wasn't all stock and in good shape before you modded it.
Looks good 👍🏻
Thanks!
We are almost the same person. I have an 83' 944 and a new Sequoia.
Nice choices!
Keyless entry = the fast way to get your car stolen....
I have modernized my 83 944 ! ruclips.net/video/FFkLmIG7JR8/видео.htmlsi=Z9Q02qnQ6Be_hzqm thoughts 😂😂😂
I just had power locks, apple carplay, a backup camera and a new sound system installed on my 1986 N/A 944 and everything works great! Nice to see I'm not the only one "ruining" 944s
I'd rather "ruin" a 944 than ruin a good time! I say modify your vehicles in whatever way makes you enjoy it more!
🏍️
Great to see mate
😅I had one in the late 70s . A 1974 mx 74 - 70 cc 4 speed . Absolute weapon of a motor. Suspension was as it looks , but just jump on and kick it and ride for hours . Ultra reliable . Loved it
Hey I’m working on restoring a 1983 944, I would love the extra parts. Do you have a way to message like an email so I can show you how it’s going. Pretty crazy, could use the extra support
The only parts I have left is the engine. I don’t have a public email setup yet, but I will get back to you!
Flock ot
What paint did you use to repaint the first one? And was the fiverglass shedding out of the plastics when you got it or was it not that bad?
Rust-Oleum 338922 Gloss Sunburst Yellow - a.co/d/0Pr6YaT
The fiberglass was exposed in some places, but not much. There were mostly cracks and chips in the gel coat that I just sanded and filled with more fiberglass resin and a layer of new mesh.
Omg look at that rat nest ! Why Are you a glutton for punishment ?!!
Modernize a rock if you have cash and will spend it NO?
are you in California?
No, Washington
I just picked up a 1970 model and am about to begin this same battle.
Good luck!
Way to go, Using the car instead of letting it sit. I just picked up a 924 S, hoping to get timing belt done etc and drive it daily.. I didnt understand the end of video, you selling the car or parts left. ??
man if i had the courage to fix all my wires
Wiring seems to be a common comment with this video... maybe I should sell my services 🤣
Love the Kawasaki h1&h2 looking really nice bikes don't know the 3rd bike at all but it has some massive tyres on it so must be a great off road bike but slow you done a great job rebuilding them bikes
Thanks! The Rokon (with extra wide tires) is a two-wheel drive bike with hollow rims intended for things like hunting or search & rescue. It's a very weird bike that I plan to make a video on at some point.
Its an MT!. KV 75's were 1975-1980. You can get most of the parts you might need from Vintage Kawasaki in Ontario Canada.
Who woulda thought you could have made a 1983 944 interior look worse?
I like the interior on our 83 944 !!!!! What do you drive????😊😊😊😊😊
@@artmchugh5644oh he is just hating it’s the only video he could watch while taking a deuce before the evening rush at Chipotle which means his daily driver is 1997 Honda civic or 1982 Camaro with the anemic 90hp 4 banger.
@davidhooper259 he doesn't own a 944 lolo 😂.. don't worry man, I'll be next on the upgrades
If I did all that, taking the dash apart, etc. I guarantee, that car would never start again 🤣
I knew as soon as I saw the state of your dash - or what used to be a dash! - in the first 40 seconds, this was going to be a good watch!. Cheers from UK.
Best way to modernize it is replace the engine.
What car play is that I have been looking for so long
Search "single din carplay" on Amazon and you'll find a few different brands/models. The one I bought is sold under several unrecognizable brands and I can't truly recommend it because it was a pain to setup, the user interface isn't great, and it's pretty laggy, but on the plus side, once it was setup, it worked every time and it connected wirelessly.

@@JeffIsaac absolute legend thank you very very much loving the channel ❤
I’m a happy owner of a 1990 S2Cabriolet…I “gifted it” to myself the year that I both turned 50 AND promoted to Navy O6. That was almost 20 years ago now….my S2 still has less than 70k on the clock…she is stored 6-7 months a year (I live in New England)….and recently, I’ve debated either modernizing the car, or buying a used 911 997. Whatever I end up doing, I admire the hell out of your effort. I’m long past the patience and tools to tackle an effort of this magnitude….which all the more makes me admire your! Bravo-Zulu, we’ll done brother, very well done!!!
@@captaincoyote1792 Thank you, it was a labor of love! A 997 and S2 are both on my bucket list to own some day, as are a 928 and 944 Turbo.
That rear quarter is going to be fun...NOT! Get a Dashmat...problem solved. Always loved the 944...had a girlfriend who had one and let me borrow it regularly. Fun drives up PCH from Ventura to Santa Barbara to go see shows at The Arlington or The Bowl...lots of great memories. YES...Toad The Wet Sprocket...Sting...Oingo Boingo...75 to 85 was such a great time in music. Good luck with your restomod.
you could have very easily inverted that top speaker and infotainment screen position what do you think about that?

I agree a bold black would look good with maybe a KTM orange to highlight around the Kawasaki
It's like you know me
What about going over the kawasaki in bold black paint?
Looks awesome man, here from Facebook market place
Thanks!
Too bad the remote switch wouldn't work. Great job bringing new life to her!
Thank you and I agree! Maybe I'll buy another project car to put it in some day, but I have some motorcycles to get to first. :)
Wow what a project, beautiful car, and great video sir
Thank you!
Why?, take all of the nostalgia out of it.
For the interior- working on a car using Corbeau seats. I bought extra seat material so I can upholster the back seat to match the front buckets, custom headliner, wrap the package tray & dash pad, and part of the door panels. It's a '70's American "Budget" sedan that sports brakes, suspension, engine & a manual gearbox that most people snicker about. It's fun
8 GRAND for plain seats...amazing.
I don't know where you buy your seats& who prices things out for you-but $8K is far too generous@@davidbutler8096
What steering wheel is that?
It came with the car when I bought it, so I don't know the model number. The only identifying info on it is "MOMO Race"
Where did you get the blank dash for the late model 944 at 8:33
Unfortunately I can't remember where I got the files and I'm not seeing it in my browser history. I printed it myself on a HP MJF printer and I'd be happy to sell the one I printed if you're interested :)
Of course you can #PorscheNoSubstitute944
That's an awesome car. I've been a Porsche fan almost my whole life. One day I'm gonna own one, hopefully lol.
