Well of course she's not coming back. The crown extinguished its entire power just to grant one wish, and it worked because they were inside golb, so it technically had INFINITE wishing power, so within Golb, the crown counts as the single object that can affect Golb, because otherwise, its the single most powerful force of nature. I wouldn't say its obvious but, I think the method to saving Betty is replicating the scenario, going inside Golb with the wishing crown and wishing for Betty to unmerge with Golb, and at the absence of chance to free her, 'I wanna be with Betty forever' would work something around.

I'm fascinated by the fact that simon and betty have such a big impact on the world of ooo as we see it in the series. If simon went with her and died, marcy wouldve ended up like how she did in Ths Star and vampires would rule. If betty didnt go with him at all she wouldve died and crazy simon wouldnt have remembered her like with Winter King. Honestly, something that makes this series so cool is that the whole main cast (finn, jake, marcy, simon, bonnie etc) are almost destined by fate to end up where they do. Even small changes fully shift the course of history as we see with the alternate wish realities. Man i love the adventure time worldbuilding 😅

Their dynamic was so complex and well done. They both had that fog of nostalgia that colored their perceptions of how things were, glorifying each other in the past and never stopping to take a close look at what they meant to each other and how. In retrospect they never got a chance, which makes things all the more tragic. Simon always had the flaw of feeling like he needed to be in control, which is understandable given how scary it is when you're not in control, and that was only amplified when he was the Ice King. Betty taught him a lesson in the end she wasn't able to learn herself until it was too late, that you shouldn't keep sacrificing yourself for others that there's nothing left, even if you love them.

Its sad when you think that their relationship didint last very long probably a couple of short years then the mushroom war happened

For some reason, this show is getting a Season 2 and I worry that it's almost going to devalue what they did here. I just don't see what the point of continuing this is and if it is just a generic Fionna and Cake romp, then I don't think that's a necessary idea.

I don't doubt that Simon loved Betty and that Betty loved Simon. Betty's character flaw is that she cares too much with little/no regard for herself. Everything she does upon coming to present Ooo is to help Simon. She never explores this strange new world beyond the parameters of saving him. It was her truest, deepest wish to keep Simon safe no matter the cost. It's not healthy to love someone so much you forget to do things for yourself too. And seeing what Simon has gone through to get her back, it's clear he loves her, too. He was just too invested in his research (and later too insane) to realize that Betty put her entire life on hold for him. But if magic is madness and sadness and it strips you down to your most basic elements, Simon and Betty's relationship is still at the center. For centuries, the Ice King tried to find his "Princess." He had this overwhelming sense of loneliness without that. Despite everything he forgot, Simon never forgot the people he loved on some level. Betty was his princess and he would keep finding and spending time with Marceline despite having no memory of their time together. And once Betty got Magic Man's powers, she never forgot her mission to save Simon. She lost herself, memory of Finn, Jake, and Ice King in madness but not that. She didn't forget that she loved Simon and wanted to save him more than anything else.
