Thanks for this video. I replaced my trunk harness and my trunk started working again on my 2012 VW CC. Yet, the trunk lights are still not working, my dash still shows the trunk open when it's closed, and I'm unable to lock my doors from the inside of the car. Any advice you can give? Thanks

Did you install an amp as well? If not, is there a noticeable difference in the base with the new sub compared to the factory sub?

Thanks so much for this! I was able (as a 30 something woman with no knowledge of car mechanics) to do this myself in under an hour. I even used my hair tie to feed the wires through and a cuticle pusher to help get all the clips apart hahaha. Problem solved!!

Thank you for the video. Your video made it possible for me to fix the issue myself. My '14 CC had intermittent issues with the trunk not opening with the key fob, door, and rear hatch. The rear lights were working fine. I ordered the OEM wire harness from FCP Euro. Here are my suggestions: 1. Definitely wear cut proof gloves. This will keep your hands from being cut by the sharp/rigid plastics. 2. I highly recommend using Nylon Pry Bar set (Harbor Freight). Metal screw driver will destroy the tabs. These tools allowed me to unlatch the 4 connectors located in the driver's side rear fender. I used the nylon pry bar to remove the connectors from the chassis. I also used the nylon pry bar to push into the connector. This released the connection tab to release the male plug. Nylon pry bars were also used to remove the tabs located throughout the lid of the trunk and the carpeted wall. 3. I removed the trunk lid liner completely. Remember to take a picture of the manual trunk release for reference. 4. Instead of removing the wiring completely, I pulled through the disconnected wiring harness from the bottom to top (trunk lid). Once the wiring harness was out, I disconnected the old connectors from the trunk lid and plugged the new connectors as I went along. 5. I was able to feed the 4 connectors into the rear quarter by using a blue tape to wrap the wires together. The wires were strong enough to feed without issues. I was able to put the panel pieces back without issues. Remember, do not force too much when working with the body panels. The metal clips for the trunk lid does move laterally, so be mindful when reinstalling them. I had to adjust few of my metal clips to line up with the slit/hole. Good luck! Thanks! I need to do this exact same thing on a 2015 VW Polo hatchback, and curious if anyone knows where the connectors to the wiring harness are at the car end. Roof? C-pillar? The wiring harness goes through to tailgate near the roof, but I don’t want to disassemble panels, and risk breaking something, where I don’t need to.

What about when there's no error message? AFS is active but doesn't work?

Mine is opening the trunk suddenly, could this be same issue?

What about when the reverse lights don’t work? I’ve changed them and they went out again.

used this cut sheet with a JL Audio TW3 12" and it worked great. I pulled the OE sub and utilized the wiring pigtail from that so I didn't need to order the parts. Thank you!

I’ve never even changed a tire.. but a series of events later and I feel like I need a telling everyone I know that I just did this in less than 20min 💪🏻 👩🏻‍🔧 here’s the story, but for those who don’t want it, this WORKED and was so damn easy! And also there are two rubber covers on each side for the lights; you’re opening/removing the circular rubber seal from the ones closest to the rear of the car) I can’t see at night in CA, VW dealership doesn’t sell brighter lights, was told I could buy some and they’d put them in, auto parts place said they could put them depending upon the process, googled the process, found this…. I almost high-fived myself twice (after hearing one light click into place, then after turning my car on and their glorious beams shining - 1st engine start, around 10-15min after install) and I tell you no lies.

Hi do the block off plates go on the flange of the headers/manifolds ??? I am getting after market Doug thorley headers on my v8 4runner and want to make sure I get there block off plates in at the same time since my remflex gasket is not reusable.

Same problem happened to my 2015 cc. After 3 hours diagnosis by dealer ship and they pointed out the causes was due to trunk wire harness failure. Guess how much they gonna charge me.Up to 1500 bucks. And this not the end. That price is just for harness replacement. They say this is just the first step for the further inspection. Now I’ve picked up my car back trying to do this myself .

Good job explaining and thanks for the good lighting. To fish the lines back down into the trunk, I used a tool to take the trunk lid off of the arm. It made fishing the lines a ton easier. I had no problems taking the old line out, where you said the little plastic pieces stuck, I just pulled the other way, no snags. All in all, a one hour fix. Cost about $100 for the cable. Who knows what it would’ve cost to get it fixed. Thanks again.

What's the sense of doing a repair video if you aren't going to show all the steps to repair, like shaft replacement?

Does it turn on immediately after you change the bulb? Or do you have to give it a few minutes for the lightbulb to turn on?
