Rickenbacker bass 4003s - Space 1999 theme (written by Barry Gray)
One of the best videos I've seen that really demonstrates that unique Rickenbacker tone and growly raspy sound. So much so that now, when I talk to my friends about that unique sound, I just refer them to your video, so many thanks! I have the 4003s myself, except in Fireglo. Oh, and great composition and playing. For a while, I thought I was listening to some blend of Yes/Gong/Ozric Tentacles, with more than a hint of Floyd and the late Sixties. I'll take a look at more. It's my listening style and preference.
Thank you, very much appreciated! 😊 Keep playing that Rickenbacker, they're amazing! I've been playing Ricks since 1987, and I still get that buzz of excitement when I pick one up.
A great Rush sound with Sunn amps in the 70ties!!!
Fantastic tone. The overdriven pick on a Ric sound is to my ears, the essence of what rock bass should sound like.
Thank you, it definitely is a very addictive sound.
Opening up that case for the first time must be like being a kid opening up that present at Christmas.. just overwhelming.. I’ve always wanted one but my wallet said no lol
The nice thing is that the feeling stays with you as time goes on.
Brilliant build mate!
Thank you.
Truly excellent
Thank you Keith.
Notes sound good, but a touch tinny.

Totally AWESOME!!!!
Thank you!
Uffffff ese bajo lo senti recorrer mi sangre ,por esto amo el rock progresivo.
Thank you 🎵
Ex-cel-lent! Beautiful work, thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching 😀
Can you tell us more about your setup? Are you running the Ric through the Ric-O stereo jack? Effects? EQ? Compressor? How are you getting such bright sound from flats?
At the time I was using the Behringer BDI21, set for a slight mid scoop. Straight into DAW with a touch of 3.5/1 compression. The sound is primarily from the strings themselves, they feel like flats but have the tone of bright roundwounds.
Beautiful Brandon . only certain people can play these and make them sound good. When I was giging back in the day (70s, 80s ) they were hard to set up and the pickups sucked, but they looked cool . But , after seeing this , I need to revisit the Ricky again.
Apologies Brendan, I didn't mean to misspell you .
No worries 🙂
Nice song -your own?
Thank you, this piece of music eventually evolved into this song ruclips.net/video/Lv9LBd_ZpSs/видео.html
IS there anyway you could fuse them together like that Batio guy?
I'd have to get another two and make the 4 neck version! 😀
Loving it Brendan, especially 'Lucy's Lane'.
Thanks mate! 😀
Giving this a listen as I type, beautiful stuff as always Mr B. (Richie D)
Thanks mate! 😁
Beautiful work as always Brendan. (Richard D)
Thanks mate. 🙂
Wonderful! Lovely video too!
Thank you Colin!
Excellent work Davros would be proud. I built my renegade black supreme Dalek from the movie he took three years to build and still isn't finished I keep coming up with new ways to improve him. He has a stripped down electric wheelchair to move him about and a CO2 fire extinguisher connected to the gun. We should start a band I'm a lead guitarist.🤣🤣
Many thanks! I'm building another Dalek now and intend to get that one motorised, probably with remote control. Good to see someone else who likes Dalek building and music! 😀
All good!!!!
fantastic
Nice one, Brendan! Look forward to hearing the album!
Thanks mate, I'm right chuffed with it so far.
great job! i love jeff waynes tripod
Many thanks
your welcome @@BrendanPerkins
Lovely stuff, Brendan.
Thank you Richard, much appreciated.
Great tune and the video was relaxing as I waited for your Rickenbacker to surface from time to time!
Much appreciated, thank you Paul
Nice bass sound!!!
Thank you!
Fantastic as always Mr Poyks. :D
Thanks mate, much appreciated. 😀
Beautiful song. Love the Rick 4001 weaving in and out. 👍
Thank you, very much appreciated.
Not normally a fan of RUclips photo galleries but nice to see one with good photos from an unusual vantage point, and with an appropriate original soundtrack.
golden boi
Good collection of photos and the music choice is good too We used to get a lift on locos some days and seeing the 47 with the grotty desk with tape to stop the draughts reminded me your job was not all glamour. Feet up is another thing I remember. Sad to see how the railway declined and nearly all this kind of place was closed down so many locos scrapped as well.
Thank you. I definitely remember draughty cabs that looked more than a little worse for wear. I'm really glad I took my camera into work that day, not knowing that an ordinary shift on shed would fade into history like that. It's good to reflect on the happy memories.
@@BrendanPerkins Yes they were good times A lot complained about BR but seeing how the railways are now is very saddening. I wish I took my camera early on. From around 1985 I began to carry one and got a few photos of unusual things. I took a few in the last week of BR as well. I was in Signal & Telecoms track side most days Could be you passed me on one of the tanker trains
You made a very nice job of that. How easy is it to use your feet to walk through that small gap? I'm hoping the answer is "easily" because I don't want the expense and faff of fitting a motorised base if I build one.
Thank you. Unfortunately it was never meant to have a person inside it, built with the intention of motorising with remote control.
Lovely photos thank you for posting
Thank you.
so, so, so, so, so good dude. The composition, the notes, the touch, the tone.
Thank you, I appreciate that lots! I'll keep doing more of the same! 🙂
Sounds like something from Yes, around the mid to late 70’s. Great tone!
Thank you! 😀
FIRST! (Richard D) OOoh new audio thingies for the ear holes. Splendid! 😀
Cheers mate! 😀
@@BrendanPerkins Anytime. :)
What plans did you use? And how tall did the dalek end up?
I used the Shawcraft plans from projectdalek.com and the Dalek is 5ft tall.
@@BrendanPerkins mk3?
So, just out of curiosity (and maybe actually following through), how much would you say it would cost to commission?
As a hobbyist builder, I've no idea I'm afraid. I know there's a company called "This Planet Earth" who builds Daleks and other full size prop replicas.
GREAT play9ing as always WOW
Thank you
1972 didn't' those still have functionng horeshoe magents?
I think they changed over starting around 1968.
Brings back memories of IMM tmd spent 37 years working there , feet up on the desk on one of our new then class 60,s at least your shoe's were clean " who was that stood near the wash with orange coat ? looked bit like Chris Pickerdon ?
Oh yes, the feet on desk was to prove just how hard I was working that day. That name definitely rings a bell!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND FROM MÉXICO CHEERS 🧑🎄🥳🎸🎅BEAUTIFUL SONG ❤️ 👋
Thank you. Very happy new year to you too! 😀🎉
Nice-- how do you like that gauge of bass strings? Looks lighter than typical set
Thanks, I've been using 40s for a while and very happy with them.
To what length would the lower collar overhang the skirt panels, both on the TV props and on your expert recreation here?
Thank you, the lower collar overhangs the skirt top by 30mm (1.181 inches) on the vertical plane.
@@BrendanPerkins - you’re kind to answer me so fast, thank you! 🙏
Awesome song… makes me think of Genesis and Yes
Thank you, two of my biggest influences! 😀
That bass line is awesome
Thank you.

@@BrendanPerkins Ah, priorities! :D
😂
Nice work! The Rick sounds great using a pick too. I tried for a while but never really got the hang of using a pick with mine.
Thanks Hermon, it's all the prog rock that I listened to that influenced the pick playing. The Rick definitely responds well to it! 🙂
Beautiful!
Thanks Hermon! 😀
