Momo is a Black Headed Caique.
He was born in October, 2019, so he's still just a baby but he's growing up fast.
Momo's channel will have general bird (Momo) life videos as well as showing some of the training processes that he goes through, and showing the results.
Momo also has an instagram momo_the_caique
The channel is for entertainment purposes, so what works for Momo or makes him happy, may not work with your feathered friends.

Caique Parrot plays on it's back, wrestling brown hedgehog
Momo like to wrestle all day, everyday. Finding some toys that he can fight with gives us a small break from the beak and claws.
These Hamster toys are cheap dog/cat chew toys, they don't last the longest but they are cheap, and he loves playing with them. These toys are only for outside the cage, when he is supervised, so we are happy for him to attack them, without getting in danger.
We didn't teach Momo to play on his back, or to kick the hedgehog. These are things he naturally does. I have never known a bird so happy to be on it's back so often. Momo is always entertaining to watch, and play with.

Momo has always been obsessed with water. He has recently started to washing in the sink, on top of his daily washes in the shower. It's always great to see our little chicken enjoying himself, and this is one one those occasions.

Momo's nails are a bit too sharp right now, and it can get a bit scratch when playing around, So we are giving him a regular nail trim. This isn't a how to, it's just something bird owners do. We only trim the pointy end off, so there is no way of cutting them too short, or cutting into the blood supply. We made pancakes, so I also made a couple of small ones for Momo to enjoy. This is his 1st time having pancakes. While he didn't devour them like some foods, he seemed to enjoy the chewy (mochi mochi) texture of them. We also got to have a bit of interaction while doing it. Today was Momo's 1st big adventure wearing the harness. We went for a drive to a nature reserve with a look out at the end. your supposed to keep the fruits to a minimum because they are so enejectic

Momo is supervised, and he doesn't try to eat them. Maybe keep that in mind if you try. Natural is good too 😉

We have a leathers4feathers harness. It was reasonably priced and relatively sturdy. We've had our girl since she was a baby, so we turned putting the harness on into a routine - I put her on a specific perch and give her a treat and she knows she's getting harnessed (which she tolerates) to immediately go for a walk (which she loves). They're smart little pains in the butt.

I also have a caique , I got mine when she was a few weeks old (3 years ago )and I never clipped her wings , but she absolutely hates her harness so I take her out without a harness but I’m always scared because the wild birds in my area are territorial, I know she won’t fly away from me because we have a really good bond , but I’m gonna try and get her used to a harness in case if I will take her out in a unfamiliar environment..
I would hate for Momo to get startled and fly off… Currently he complains about putting it on 😂 but still lets us
We used to breed and hand-rear caiques, at feeding time we would loosely pop the head loop from a harness on them and then syringe feed. Once they were older and big enough to wear a harness it was no issue for them.
the younger the better for this sort of training, for sure. You're lucky to have the opportunity to start so early. 😍
I just found you. I always like to see what other people are doing with their Caiques. I have 5 female Caiques. There are 2 white bellied and 3 black headed. All are female. One of the black headed girls is a rescue. She was raised on a seed only diet. Watching the other birds is a big plus in convincing her to try a new diet. My avian vet told me not to give peanuts as they sometimes contain mold. My birds, except for the rescue are fully flighted. They have access to most of the house. I keep the bedroom and bathroom doors closed. Two of them like showers the other three like to bathe in a large stainless steel basin at least every other day. Obviously I adore Caiques. I have them whistling and laughing. One is trying to speak. But, as you know, Caiques aren’t known for speaking. I look forward to following you.😊
