Great vid and well done I'll be there next year 💪
Amazing see you there! 👊
Hi there! Fantastic video! Just out of curiosity where was the campsite you stayed at ? Is it a pop up campsite just for the event? 👍🏻
@@scottcorrigan6730 hi mate thanks for watching! It's called Tafarn-Y-Garreg and is opposite a pub. One of the few that's open throughout winter.
@ Hi just started watching through some of your other videos really useful help and motivation! That’s handy having a pub across the road! Hard to find campsites that are open all year round! Thanks 👍🏻
What was your time?
5:25 not fast at all
Thanks for sharing Ferdi. See you on the hills!
Looking forward to it! 👊
The cadre were part of 45 commando group which was seconded permanently to NATO for the defence of Norway should a soviet invasion take place, the cadre train the men of 45 commando in mountain and arctic warfare and most of them are recruited from that unit.
Thx for the background. And if I’m not mistaken 45 worked closely with the Dutch Whiskey Cie. Specialising in cold weather training and operations.
Great effort Ferdi. And massive well done to Andy for sticking with it after so many failed attempts.
Thanks Marc, yes agreed! 👊
Class video
Thanks mate appreciate it 👊
@ 👊
Great video. Although eating cold boil in the bags brought me out in a cold sweat 😂
Hahaha yes I was very very tired at that point 🤣
man! You are amazing. I'm dreaming of coming and beating the Fan Dance Challenge. I hope to come someday, take on the challenge, and meet you.
Brilliant go for it! Looking forward to it! 👊
@@HardRoutine_TOTW 💥💪
And HAT & GLOVES! (top zip)
Credit to you all, thanks for taking us along.
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching👊
Thanks for the video did that weight you were carrying include the tent you were filming in? What would be your top 3 tips for this event? Cheers
Hi mate, no I left the tent up at the campsite. The Rab Latok Mountain 2 weights 4.3lbs (1.9kg). Top tips would be: 1. Do self nav so lots and lots and lots of nav prep on the route. 2. Don't carry excess bodyweight get in mega shape (not sure I was....) 3. Do not quit unless you break a leg or have some other sort of catastrophic injury. Not everyone can do that but that's ultimately the key. Very few entrants to the civvy version like the one pictured ever finish if any. 👍
@@HardRoutine_TOTW Thanks for the quick reply great advice thanks.
Great stuff dude. 💪
Thanks mate👊
Steeldive and other companies do a great homage of the Captain Willard watch, mind. Still with a Seiko movement, for under £120.00. 👍🏾
Interesting I’ll look into that!
@ The build quality is excellent on the Steeldive version. And everything lines up, unlike a lot of the seikos.
G-Shock multi band six solar watches are the best ones you are gonna get.👍🏾 Anyway…if it’s an apocalypse, just go and loot a jewellers for a few watches.😉
enjoyed watching it. Brings back memories. I did a reserve and winter 88 selection passed it in summer 89. Only one to get into my sqn at the time. Hard work. But well worth it. Got to say Brecon if far harder and better than Ranger school.
Thanks Richard. I appreciate Ranger school doesn’t really compare to IBS like for like
ive only watched the first 4 minutes and the DS are telling you all what I commented about on one of your other vidoes. You could do this in winter stak bollock naked and still over heat if your working hard. Which is exactly what your supposed to be doing. You need your warm kit for only when you stop or have to stop because injures etc. rest of time its just carried if in case its needed.
Yes fair play you do always say that.
awesome video…
Thank you 👊! Thanks for watching
Looked great… awesome video…
Glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
Not sure why the RUclips algorithm has recommended this? However, as it has... I would just say - having been on the Beacons the day that poor SAS tryout died from heat exhaustion some years back... and that having really had an impact on me - THINK! Don't push yourself beyond what you can do.
Yes very true. These events offer a solid platform of support and procedures with qualified staff at checkpoints along the route and logging participant progress and mandatory kitlists incl mandatory 3 liters of water to offer a platform on which the civilian version of this challenge can be taken responsibly. Thanks for watching!
Well done indeed 👍 👍 I’m just getting started and hope to do the summer fan dance with aee , Roman rampage is my 1st event in March and training is going well. Beautiful views you had there 👍
I’m planning on doing Roman Rampage myself see you there! 👊🥾
thanks for posting, i also got a sneaky cameo at the start point
Thanks nice one!
That was me behind you coming down Jacob’s ladder!! I’m taking spikes next time I do the winter… Despite the conditions, the views were stunning! Definitely helped :) Great video, I’ll say hello next time!
Yes definitely spikes next time! Yeah definitely say hello mate! Also we do organised walks and meet ups at events via the hard routine fb group link in description 👊
What sort of spikes would you have used?
I've got a pair stored somewhere (microspikes) let me check and get back to you 👍
Ok they're called Nortec micro spikes...
4.26, nice! Love the beacons in winter ❄️
Same here! Thx for watching 👊🗻
Awesome video, was stood next to you at the start and make a cheeky cameo. Thanks so much for your content, it really helped with my prep.
That’s great to hear mate 👊 thank you!
Well in fit as fiddle
Truth is the Argentinian Army Special Forces wore out the SAS & M&WC in the Battles for Mount Kent & Top Malo House so much so that only 4 men of the M&WC were left operating as an observation post on Smoko Mount & Captain Boswell therefore failed to secure the bridge connecting Fitzroy & Bluff Cove Settlements resulting in the bombing of the Sir Galahad & over 250 British casualties on 8 June when the Welsh Guard arrived only to find their overland route to Stanley Common severed after Argentine Army Combat Engineers blew up a good part of the bridge unmolested on 2 June. (Source: 'Battle of Mount Kent and Top Malo House', METAPEDIA, The Trustworthy Encyclopedia)
Interesting I didn't know that
Take a look at the CWC range - used to supply the GB military G10 and the Royal Navy Divers
Will do!
Great work keep it up
Thanks, will do! 👊
I was involved as RLC support staff with 23 about 15 years ago, I did some hills with the guys and coped well enough but was too old at that point to try selection ( a PSI tried to get me on but those above vetoed it ) If you decide to go for it do not underestimate the task because if you do you will not pass. As a side issue the reserve best suits the unemployed and the self employed if you want to gain a lot out of it. As an ex regular I shot more live ammunition in one weekend with 4Para than I did in ten years in the RAF !
Thx for the background!
A real patriot!!❤
What an incredible story well told.
Thanks for watching!
Mate... your voice edits ?
I'll work to improve🤣
I would take my Sinn U50. I have the black PVD coated version and it looks very tacticool. Also, its 500m water resistand. PS: the music was s bit too loud in you video.
Thx for the feedback 👍 I’ll look into the Sinn sounds interesting!
Nothing wrong with G Shock
I did 21 SAS Selection in 1960 based then at Dukes Road after 2 years infantry National Service and 18 months RMVR pre N.S. Undoubtably the two weeks Selection was the toughest as every day it was across country navigation over the Brecons and Black Mountains on your jack with footpaths and tracks forbidden with the final exercise at 42 miles. On two of the days my performance was not good but fortunately on the final exercise I came in first really only because I was lucky in not developing knee and ankle problems which most seemed to have. I always regretted resigning but family problems dictated otherwise. I served 5/6 brilliant years! Am sure much has changed since those days but the memories of that Selection Course lives on!
Thanks for sharing!
Don't the paras do this in p company now?
I genuinely don't know mate
not this version of P Coy, this used to be the first of 3 days Wales phase Mon to Wed, after 2 day Aldershot phase Thu & Fri, they stopped this when the depot was sadly closed in Aldershot
The Interrogation team work for DSTO, Not sure what he meant by the joint services interrogation board ?
It’s a Quartz 7548 , the SKX 009 came out in ‘96 . They look very similar especially with the Pepsi bezel
Thx for the info!
My apocalypse watch would be the Citizen Eco Drive BN0228-6W “Retrozilla.” Multiple strap options, tough titanium case, lightweight, accurate, great bezel, and charges in the sunlight. Ready to run for years on end!
Nice I didn't know that one!
Once.the world.ends knoing.the time.will be the last concern
www.kampspecialforces.nl/
Definitely the most interesting & informative channel in RUclips, and I am your fan! I’ve been watching MAMACOO and buying them recently to complement my watch collection. Good video
Where can we buy the endurance watch?
Now in prototype testing phase if you email ferdi@hard-routine.co.uk I'll make sure to send you the info in due course. Likely open for orders in Feb 👍
Id still go with a casio rangeman (GW-9400)
[Is it not true that our country is run by Islamists? Do we know if our so-called politicians, clergymen, police, judges, lawyers and civil servants, teachers etc are actually Islamists or are beholden to Islam for other reasons? Possible that they believe islam will win and have sold their services to new masters? Is it not true that Khan has links to Islamic Extremists? Starmer says "I will take every step to keep "Rel of Peace" communities safe". Why is he not pledging his loyalty to keep the people of Great Britain safe? Haven't the police shown which side they are on in the recent times with their two tier policing? The king, Starmer, the Church of England, the Armed Forces and Parliament: Do the police and military members not Swear an oath to the King and not the people? How about this... hasn't Charles always been a member of the "Rel of Peace" as didn't Queen Victoria convert to the "Rel of Peace" in regards to her relationship with Abdul Karim? If so, could all her descendants be secret Members of the "Rel of Peace" using taqiyya which is the action of committing a sinful act (such as feigning unbelief/lying) for a pious goal. Hiding one's beliefs has been a feature of Islam since its earliest days, and is acknowledged by "Rel of Peace" members of virtually all persuasions. Plus the decline of the strength and commitment to the Church of England by the royal family, The Prime Ministers and Parliament? Why has the church been promoting the "Rel of Peace" and selling our churches to the Rel of peace to be converted into mosques? Is it because Queen Victoria converted to Islam and as the head of the Church of England, didn't she and Abdul plan to slowly but surely convert everyone in her realm to Islam and the land into an islamic state? Aren't all these questions not plausible?]
Just buy a casio, pfffff just a to expence piece of watch.
Dude, I think in the end you'll come back to the G-Shock Solar--these things last forever with zero maintenance. Most automatics (especially Seiko!) will go bad relatively early on compared to a tough solar. I've been a Seiko fan boy for 30 years and have old and new Rolex subs but would never consider these apocalypse watches.
cool I mention them in the follow-up vid on The Endurance watch
