I’m old lol. My mom had the VHS tapes of this series. She loved this series the mosr mainly because of Colin forth (though she won’t deny it loool) I wish I could see this again somewhere . Every other series and movie is not the same
5:41 what episode is this
I love near the end, after Lady De Burg had been to Longbourn, where D'Arcy admits to her that her lashing out at him, made him a better man. It made him think about whether he was not, indeed, "ungentlemanly." He realizes that he was brought up to be proud, unrelenting & too openly honest.
I love watching the other character's reactions to Mrs Bennett. I think that with our modern way of acting and talking, we don't *fully* understand what she's saying (--probably most people commenting here have, like me, watched this movie a hundred times--but think of how you felt the first time you saw it). The way Jane's throat tightens up, the way Mr's Bingley's sisters actually start snickering though doing so goes against everything they've been taught, the way Lydia looks thoughtful and somehow tries to sympathize, etc.)
Best version EVER
God how boring.
Elizabeth really lucked out in the end! Not only did she get Mr. Darcy as a husband and Georgiana as a little sister, but she also got Mr. Bingley as the world's sweetest brother-in-law. Lizzie and Bingley's friendship is probably one of the most underrated dynamics in the novel. They're just so sweet and respectful to one another (albeit with some light teasing now and then 3:05). It was lucky for Darcy as well since he got the woman of his dreams and his best friend became his brother! In the novel it says that later on Jane and Bingley buy a house 30 miles away from Pemberley and visit Lizzie and Darcy often. I love to imagine their kids playing together. I bet they're the closest little cousins ever!🥰
Where can i watch this show?

Yo también me enamore de ella. 😂. Encantadores.
Love Charlotte, always coherent!

Jane Austen is nothing if not objective and understanding of her characters. Caroline's been waiting around for Darcy to like her for years and he hasn't and now that he likes someone else she feels robbed. She's a jerk but we know why. Like, she's wrong but we get it. Also, Caroline being around Darcy goes to show that he really is a catch, even though Caroline doesn't really know or appreciate him as Elizabeth will come to.
she tries to crap on his love for Elizabeth and he just grabs the turds: "this will fertilize my love nicely"
mrs bennet used to annoy me to no end, and then I realized if I had 5 daughters in those times to worry about marrying off I'd probably be stressed as hell too lol

If Charles Bingley was born in the 21th century, he would be a mesiah, given his extreme goodness towards this family lol
I love the scene where Darcy almost yells at Carol "WHAT?!" and puts on the gentleman manners and leaves... oof
The scene where Caroline is reading a book, after realising Darcy is interested in Elizabeth and Elizabeth reads books (that's the only thing she does in Caroline's head) is so funny to me cuz she's almost giving high school mean girl vibes from a sarcastic movie. Like, the mean girl character is not so realistic and exaggeratedly she copies everything the girl does, who the main girl's crush is in love with. Caroline is such a pathetic character I love her
I love how this scene gives a hint that maybe in the future Elizabeth will help Georgiana improve her confidence and take care of her. I loved how she first encouraged her to play the piano and then ran to her as she heard the name of the traumatising man. They would have such a sweet sisterly relationship in the future.
He’s adorable. ❤
From the book, I never thought Mary was _bad_ at singing and playing, just continually trying to show off above her skill level so sounding affected. So maybe faltering, but not off-key.
Charlotte is the voice of common sense in the story. Also, pretty sure she's the one who whispered into Lady Catherine's ear that Darcy had proposed to Elizabeth. Thus ensuring that Lady Catherine would drive them together. Mr. Collins has no idea how much smarter Charlotte is compared to him, which allows her to end up married to the heir to Longbourn, guaranteeing her own future as the wife of a landed gentleman. Sure, she doesn't love him. But she doesn't care. It's a sensible marriage that benefits her in the long-term. Elizabeth should have taken Charlotte (who is older than her) more seriously.
Great actress
The first time I read P and P, I was a freshman in HS. I was just beginning to understand boy/girl relationships, and that, indeed, there was even such a thing. At the end of the book, I was genuinely shocked that Elizabeth agreed to marry Mr.Darcy. I thought he was a long-winded creep. Oh, well. What did I know.
His face his face his face!!!
So boring
Ahahaha, Mary 'I would'nt know it even if I did see it. I care nothing for such baubles'.
Definition of: looks like a cinnamon roll, is a cinammon roll
The minute I saw that chick (for lack of a better word), the song "Dude looks like a lady" came into my head.
Exactly why you *can't* say Darcy was wholly in the wrong. Her family is enough to make anyone sink down off their seat under the table.
Mr. Collins should have been with Mary.
Poor Lizzie and Jane. As much as they love their family and are fiercely loyal to them, they can be quite an embarrassment, especially Mrs. Bennet whom you would think would be more mature. I also agree with some in the comments about Darcy having a point regarding the Bennet family behavior. As harsh as he was in saying this during the proposal, Darcy was giving a very blunt assessment of how awful the family's social behavior was. Even Lizzie, upon self-reflection, had to admit how embarrassing their behavior was. I do feel for Mary though. I think she has the most potential to become a more mature person if given the right guidance.
Do agree about Charlotte's wisdom. She was sensible in human behavior and practical in marrying the silly but decent Mr. Collins as both could give each other what they needed for the time and place in which they lived.
They're so cute.
Jane's seemingly "indifferent" expression is well portraited! Now to think back Mr. Darcy probably had a first impression like this to make him try to stop the marriage between Jane and Mr. Bingley the first time.
Bingley cracks me up every time!
The best televised version of Jane Austin's book. PERIOD!
Mrs. Bennet is really great here, I mean her play
** Mic drop **
I feel those looks were definitely genuine given the fact that they both dated irl🥲❤
It's really only the last scene that salvages Mrs. Bennett. She knew to give Mr. Bingley and Jane enough time to connect. Considering what children needed to endure back then, we're lucky that our reputations aren't dependent on our families.
What the hell is he saying during that proposal???? Asking her to marry you or hoping she ends up hating you after the meeting so you can genuinely move forward with your life objectively???
