For the compass use a thin strip of wood, so its flex's over the ribs, with a center pin for the center of the roundel and a hole at the difference radii for a pencil tip to go into for marking the diameters.

take a bradawl and poke holes in your paper template about 50 - 75 mm apart around the circles, then you can mark your wing through the template with pencil or chalk or similar.

Hi Scott I think the wheel covers would look good in the same colour as the cowl, whatever that is. I'm going to guess here, poished aluminium?? Loving following this build. I'm also an ex rc modeller that loved solartex and then similar fabric to the camel with dope, cant remember the name of it though. Also built a 601xl with Jab 3300 so yes i followed the 750 cruzer. Keep up the great content mate. Phill Gympie Qld

G'day Scott, Great, mate ! I'm lovin' it...! Busy as a one-legged person in an Arse-Kicking Contest, myself..., at the moment ; on Monday I actually went into Time-Dilation and barked..., using "The Tone Of COMMAND !" Which reached out 15 metres , to a Contractor's Sub-Contractor - resulting in him Leaping... Like a startled Kangaroo (!). And the Concrete Truck's back Wheels, spinning while trying to go forwards - uphill..., slid backwards downhill instead ; Missed connecting with the Sub-Contractor's trailing Shirt-Tail..., by 1 inch (25mm) Maybe... If I hadn't barked He'd have been very badly broken, at best. Check my Upload a few hours ago, and read the Description to unpack it all...; but suffice to say that I'm REALLY Enjoying watching you Building this Cameloid... You're doing a Superlative job, And I wish you Many delightful Hours Playing with it, Aloft ; When you eventually get it Airborne. Keep on keepin' on. Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !

Hey Scott. I am loving this build. I have no knowledge of building aircraft but I find your videos compulsve viewing!!! thanks for posting them. Im about halfway through the build and just thought Id post this before I go back in time and keep watching. Im amazed at how you work through all the problems!! It seems that frame needs you to really apply the knowledge youve built up over the years. I struggle with lego kits!!! well done. Im looking forward to catching up to the latest vids

Don’t need to apologize for anything! You’re doing a fantastic job. That’s crazy a kit manufacturer doesn’t support you. Doesn’t matter where you live. It’s a full scale plane not a RC kit. Come on manufacturer step up!!

  • @model1issue138

Hi, Scott! Those large wing roundels will be impressive. To allow for the aileron control horns during covering and linen/green painting, I used two tables laid out side by side - the gap between the tables protected the horns. As you know, unless a builder plans to have the wing roundels located completely inboard of the ailerons as in earlier insignia versions, it's best to paint the wing roundels with the ailerons in place. I found this made applying the trim tape challenging over a five foot wing chord. That layout took much longer than the painting! But the results were worth it in the end. Keep cranking forward! Good luck, and I look forward to your next episode. John SE5a

Great attention to detail, and good clean orderly work space makes for good progress, very impressive Scott, now that you've had experience with both, aluminium and fabric which do you prefer working with? skinning with sheet aluminium? or covering with fabric, I guess each have their pro's & con's, ironing the tension into fabric looks to be almost therapeutic. Keep up the great work, Cheers from Wollongong. Glenn.

I'm nostril-deep in Lawn Locker Erection minutiae, myself, at the moment - but on the bright side ; on Monday the Shed was finally erected, in which to house the Batteries & Electronics to store Solar Current & recharge the Electric Chook-Chaser... And on Tuesday they gave me a "Red Provisional Licence" to ride... 2 years to the day after I was let out of the Cancer Institute; as Treatment completed (!). Today I clicked over the 1,600 km mark on the Bike's Oddometer, a thousand miles...; enough to go from Glen Innes to Sydney and back... This week I got the Rego. renewal, "No Inspection Required"...(!). $156 for Registration, & $96 for the CTP... Remarkable, eh - what ? (!). Such is life, Have s good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
