HG P805 Build Extras 7 - How to control 805,803 and 802 on one transmitter
Having the crane and the missile launcher means one or the other will need the small remote control as they would both require the use of the right side of the main RC transmitter. I don't want to hold tiny buttons for long periods of time so I have implemented a £30 upgrade to switch over the controls.
Hope it inspires.

It's an HG P801 and an P802 at the same time. Cargo bed and fifth wheel both on the same chassis.

Just a short video to show how I got round the problem of wanting a truck bed Hemtt and needing to pull my 806 trailer or the 805 patriot launcher. Just cut a hole, reposition and cut the supports and press fit the cargo bed on to the chassis. Then use the crane to lift off the cargo bed. Happy to answer any questions
HG P805 Build Extras 6- Finally showing Patriot Missile loading in 1/12 scale using P803 crane.

The culmination of the last few weeks work in loading a Patriot missile silo from the ground onto the launcher using only the unmodified P803 crane. for the purists this was the 3rd attempt but hey! who's counting. I still see it as a triumph. Maybe I can modify the crane to smooth the rotation for more realism but not just yet.

HG P805 Build Extras 3 - Making shackle points and creating the lift beam for the Missile tube.

In order to load and unload the Missile tube that I separated we will need to have working shackles to replace the plastic moulded ones. These are readily available and although the tube frame is too small for the shackle base the screws will effectively hold by 'pinching' either side of the frame. I used a piece of polystyrene I-beam and based the chain distribution on the live loading video. ...

HG P805 Build Final part 3. Well mostly! 1/12 Patriot missile launcher

Hi everyone, here is the final part of my HG P805 build. There will be some more work done on this model in future videos, but this is essentially the end of the standard kit. I shall be, hopefully, automating the trailer legs soon so the remote 5th wheel can be used without having to manually drop and raise them. Enjoy please.

    In step 57, on mine and in the drawing, DD-004 and DD-011 have different spacing of the pegs, how can they be reversed? In fact, I can't get DD-011 to go on at all, because of the spacing. I feel I've done something wrong. There are only two large holes on the side of DD-011 and they don't fit the pegs. I ended up just trimming the pegs on one side (still to hide the screws)...

At 8:46 and 9:03 those pieces would not fit in either orientation for me because on one side the holes were larger and too close together for either piece to fit, but it fits on the other side. I.e. both those pieces have the same pegs (the 3 sided and 1 sided) but on the metal tubes there are different holes on one side from the other. Hi Paul Thanks, and I just wanted to add that I've loved watching all your HP805 builds and all the brilliant mods you've made. I've been tempted for a long while to order on of these but I'm not sure where to put it when complete. I'm also building the Agora Routemaster bus which is also 1/12th scale and weighs about 14kg and I've pics of it sitting on the trailer behind the HEMETT. The wife loves the bus which can stay in the house, but she doesn't like the military stuff so it would probably have to live in the shed. Do you take it out to shows or do you go to any clubs. I go to the West Essex Model Truck Enthusiasts, and we meet once a fortnight at the Roydon Village Hall just outside Harlow in Essex. Did you see the RUclips video where someone actually launched an Estes rocket from one of these?

I have every intention of adapting my removable launch tube to fire a missile but I'm waiting for HG to release the promised scale Patriots sometime in the future (I hope). Hi Paul I find that the crane seems to slip on a ratchet far too easy when trying to rotate with any decent kind of load on it so have you had a go dismantling it to see if this can be improved?

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed Год назад

      Hello John, I have the same problem and refer momentarily in my HG P805 Build Extras 6 video where I am lifting a missile tub which is about the weight limit of the crane. The extension of the crane factors large into this problem. It will slip on the clutch far more if the hook is further away from the centre of the base. in other words you can mitigate the [problem by raising the arm towards the vertical or retracting the extension. It's a real pain. I did strip down the base and found the nylon pressure clutch and put some washers to tighten it and all it did was bend the enclosure slightly and still allow it to slip. The only way I can think of to solve the problem is to lock the clutch pieces together with glue. Please be advised I have not tried this as I am unsure how much damage would be done to the motor if it struggled with a load, so for the time being I have left it as standard and raised the load high (i.e. almost vertical) to allow for less pivoting force on the end on the base. Hope this helps a bit.

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed Год назад

      Hi Yves. The problem with towing the 804 or 805 trailers behind a bc8 is the distance of the hitch pin from the trailer bed. On the HG models it is 18cm but on the Crossrc trailer it is about 24cm. So the HG trailer cannot fit into the fifth wheel . • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 2 года назад

      Thanks Ashley, ok in order then 1. The hole is rough because the floorplan is solid steel and about 1/4 thick and at the time I cut it all I had was a broken hacksaw blade! 2. If you speed up any of the movements of the crane it will reduce the lifting power. This is why it moves so slowly. Unfortunately the arm rotation also has a slipping clutch which means you can only turn with maximum weight on the hook if its near vertical or not extended! 3 What measurements do you want, the size of the hole, the position of the hole or the outside dimensions of the bed?

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 11 месяцев назад

      Hi John, Thanks for your Kind message. The tarp was made using kitchen roll. I placed it on top of the truckbed, oildrums and the pallet and using a thick paintbrush applied 50% white PVA glue and water mix until it was soaked and draped nicely. I made the folds and creases and continued to brush it onto all the edges. I then left it to dry. Because it was only paper glue it stuck very lightly to plastic so I then ran a thin blade between the paper and the truck bed and sprayed it green. then when the coats of paint were dry I carefully pulled on all the edges to loosen it until i could lift it on and off. Others have used toilet roll and baby wipes to get different textures. Watch out for embossed paper if you don't want funny patterns showing on your model. Search RUclips for "Scale model tarpaulin" and there's loads of tutorials. Hope that helps. Paul

    Hay Paul I have a question in your build you don’t really touch on the wiring I’m having a issue with the raising and lowering of the tower I got the kit as soon as they released it so I have it just sitting can you do a video on the wiring?

      Hi Kirk, Two months ago you made 2 comments on "Build part 1" and one question on "build part 2". I answered these questions trying to help you at the time. I asked about what was happening bu you didn't reply to my questions. perhaps you can look at those comments now and we can go from there? Paul

      Hello Paul yes my job kept me busy but now I’m retired so I have all the time now to get to my passion ok I may have to get a new Circuit board for the elevation of the tower everything else works fine and I love what you are doing with the kit because the instructions definitely don’t match up and a lot of the parts are duplicated if you know what I mean and you seem to be the only person that has a good understanding of this kit

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 2 года назад

      Thanks, Did you check the M3/M4 wires weren't crossed over on the board. If they were then you'll most likely need a new board.

    • @kirkabbott2288
      @kirkabbott2288 2 года назад

      I think they were but everything else works can I use a different transmitter like fubta

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 2 года назад

      Sure Kirk. But you would need to know how to program the transmitter to mimic the signal that the board is expecting. I would not even try myself as I think it would be a bit of a nightmare. And just changing the RC gear wont repair the board. Is there any sound from the motors when you try to raise or lower the missiles?

    ref m3 m4 wires, which is what i got wrong. Hopefully, I haven't damaged my circuit board.....hey ho

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 2 года назад

      I'm still trying to understand what is going on with that slip ring as both elevation motors should be the same, so why one has three wires and the other two I don't know. The extra wire must be a permanent plus or minus connection to cause the missiles to raise up without getting a signal from the transmitter. It's all very strange.

    • @peterbonney8301
      @peterbonney8301 2 года назад

      @Paul's model shed the one with two wires connecting to m3 is a power supply to the two motors that control the launcher the one with 4 wires which connecting to m3 takes the power TO the launcher and then to the transmitter. those are the ones i mixed up, so instead of being controlled by the transmitter it had a constant power until it blew up the regulator. at least that's how it appears.....

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 2 года назад

      Ok not sure about the power to the transmitter bit but whatever it is it’s a crazy thing to have to spot those tiny wires when logic dictates that each one would be attached to a single actuator. Hopefully others will see this and not fall into the trap. Thanks Pete.

    • @paulsmodelshed
      @paulsmodelshed 2 года назад
