Its not the best type r by a country mile . ive had a ep3 dc2 accord and i have a fn2 now and after a few simple mods its way up there with the ep3 and it would kill the accord . Fantastic car nevertheless and totally underrated

I’m a little late in the comments😂 but you make a good point re: the bloody thing going nuts past 5,500 rpm. It’s great BUT.. a hatch, something with low down torque & you can tootle around Town or go hard occasionally? is easier to live with

I've been looking at one of these as a cheap "fun" car and watched a lot of YT reviews. This is the first one that really answered all my practical questions. So, congrats from the 6 years in the future! Just for nosiness, what are you driving now, and how does it compare to the type r?

Its not IRS like the EP3. Suspension is bloody awful in this car.

Actually it has a rear wiper, all 2 active tourers have it, and it's the best design, they are positioned very high underneath the upper spoiler

Awful rims.

I would say the biggest 2 issues are the druveshafts. Noticeable by the car wobbly at high speed and water getting in the hatch. Which is normally getting in at the join at the end of the roof runners.

I agree with you regards the front pillars. I have had two near fatal accidents because of these. Really bad design flaw.

Hi how many fn2 type r where made in silver colour. I have read there was only 45 made in silver. Is that true.

Good, concise review there - I think the model you had here was the 'SE', one trim below the 'EX' which is top spec. The auto gearbox in the Jazz is a CVT, which means its '7-speed' mode and paddles are really just the gearbox simulating gear changes, presumably to make people new to a CVT feel more like they're driving a conventional auto.

The problem with the Type-R FN2 is the Accord CU2. Which in current market is roughly in the same price range. And for the same money you get a (albeit butchered) K24, double-wishbone suspension and a much more comfortable ride...

I’d always thought of that ‘luggage retainer’ as a dog guard... I guess it does both 👍 that, and the low and flat boot sill, no spare wheel and separately opening boot window make this the absolutely perfect dog car!

I've got a 2018 Vogue SE. Only issue I've experienced is suspension - rear. Other than that, its been a dream to own. Mines a 3.0 diesel.

Oil service on my 2011 320d at Bmw is only 160 lol

Roof rust under windscreen seal, leaks in boot, front passenger footwells, laquer peel on plastic on milano reds, pixelated radio display, sub-frame 'click,' silver door handle covers coming loose or falling off, drive shafts snapping due to 'water trap' allowing the shaft to rot, oh and the standard suspension is crashy as hell, this guy must be driving on the only smoothest road in the U.K! Thats all I can think of for now, love the FN2 lol best join owners club or forum ask around before you by one, luckily mine hasnt had all of these but they are quite common issues.

Did you hear any humming or resonance from the suspension? I have the same car in gasoline and I get an odd roar mostly at 50MPH and above. I'm pretty sure it's the front air springs resonating at about 384Hz. It's nor too loud but loud enough to be annoying on a long ride.

I’ve had a 216d now for 3 months as a all rounder it’s a great car excellent in the city great on fuel enough go under the bonnet for motorway cruising good handling for an mpv, it’s not a traditional bmw but for the first crack at a small mpv bmw have nailed it. Well done BMW

I know it's a 3 year old video. But I just bought fn2 TR. My plan is to keep the car for years and then will see what happens. I 've drove from uk to ireland for around 450mls. The car is like 2 cars in one. Drive it easy and make as good mpg as possible and use vtec when you need it. And I don't think you need the vitec early at 4000 rpm. Keep car original and it keeps it value. It's a last tr model with k20 engine. Love it.
