They were never conceived as travel guitars. The originals back in the 80s had active electronics and EMG pickups and they were used by the likes of David Gilmour, Mike Rutherford, Daryl Stuermer and Edward Van Halen. They were proper, professional instruments, made from carbon and graphite and the later ones had bridges that could transpose the whole guitar equally. These new Gibson ones are based on the Hohner copies from the 80s and require some work before they're bang on. The pickups and trem posts need replaced asap although if you just lock the bridge you can overlook the posts. Ned Steinberger's original prototype bass from, I think, 1978 (he was a bassist and conceived it as a solution for bassists before rolling out the six string version) is currently for sale for somewhere in the region of £81,000 or maybe around ninety thousand of your US dollars.

The neck on mine makes me more acurate somehow.

My guess was A was active because it was more distorted and undefined, and that B was the passive because it was way more defined, clear and powerful sounding. I don`t own any Fishman active pickups but will buy one now after hearing you say the active was B...it sounds way better than I thought an active would sound. Thanks for your video.

B has the common compressed active pickup sound I guess, could cheaply fix that with EQ/compressor pedal. Thanks for the comparison!!

Excellent video! I picked up a red schecter Omen 6 from somebody on Facebook marketplace for $250. In my opinion you cannot beat the price of these guitars for the way they feel and the way they sound 🤘🤘

That's not a Truss rod adjuster near the bridge it's the bridge spring tension adjuster. Nice final fantasy song playthrough though!!! ❤

I picked a Diamond series Omen 6 up at a garage sale for $10 about 6-7 years ago. It head a broken tuning key and the electronics were a bit unsorted. Took about 15 minutes and $10 more yo get it in perfect shape. Even if I paid full price, I would say the value was great. I love this guitar.

I just put a black winter trembucker in my 2019 les Paul double cut tribute. I removed the p90. Sounds so good!!

Anyone have any input on the trem stability? How does it hold up on have trem use?

I’ve got 2 of the older version, and they have been a favorite guitar for years! Put a strap on it! It makes a world of difference! There is something extremely comfortable about the playability of that guitar! A new set of pickups is like a night & day difference! A totally different guitar! One of mine, which I bought used, is about worn out, and finding replacement parts that work kinda sucks! Naturally, it’s got some of my favorite pickups in it! Been thinking about getting a newer model, just to put the pickups into. If you could get replacement parts, I’d have that guitar forever! That’s how much I like it! ❤

Seeing, touching and hearing my first Resident made me straight away more than a mere follower. Now I own a Warhawk, a Buckshot, Airsonic and last arrived a Crosscut. I play and find new sweet spots on them everyday. It is a love story.

Those DR colored strings are straight garbage. You're right, they're just a gimmick. They dont sound very good compared to something like an XL nickel-wound string, and they dont last very long. The black colored outer layer starts to wear off almost immediately and looks really ugly when they are half black and half silver. Another issue is that you have to be pretty close to the guitar & have good lighting to even see the colored strings. So not even the people in the front row will notice them. The black just looks like shadows onscuring your strings. Trust me. I wasted tons of money on those back in the day. I was never happy with how quickly the color fades. I havent bought any since i was like 13 lol. I switched to D'ddario XL and never looked back. Theyre worth the few extra dollars. They sound incredible.

I looked at these, Steinberger in name only, they are cheap replicas made by Gibson. I was put off researching these. Apparently Gibson bought the Steinberger brand years ago, did nothing for years more, then started to produce them in Asia somewhere. A few bad reviews about the workmanship.

I think I prefer A slightly, though the brightness could be dialed back a touch.

I think Schecters are incredible guitars I'm a full time repair tech and a player The Schecters never disappoint and are my go to guitars I've had at least 12 of them and currently have 5 including an Elite SLS FR and a Platinum both with Floyd's sustainiacs the Elite is the best guitar I've ever played and the others are right up there in awesomeness! When I've got any one of them in my hands I'm never wishing I had something else in hands Incredible guitars

Hi,may i know what Pickup mounting ring is that,flat or curved.

The zero fret is a deal breaker for me. They always get grooves in them, even stainless steel ones on Strandbergs.

How did you get rid of the sharkfin inlays? Guitar looks awesome.

Did I got this guitar a few months back and been battling cleaning it up adjusting pick up height but it’s just so flubby so much low end. It’s an enigma I love it though what height did ya go for in the end? It came setup with the neck around what you had but the bridge was way down too.. any tips?
