Days of Thunder: NASCAR’s Top Gun – Why It's Better
In this video, we dive deep into Days of Thunder (1990), the high-octane NASCAR action film starring Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, and Robert Duvall. Directed by Tony Scott, Days of Thunder is often compared to Top Gun, and for good reason - it's a thrilling ride full of fast cars, high-stakes racing, and intense drama. But is it actually better than Top Gun?
We break down the film's plot, characters, racing scenes, and behind-the-scenes drama, highlighting how Days of Thunder took the action formula of the 80s and gave it a NASCAR twist. From the bond between Tom Cruise's Cole Trickle and Robert Duvall’s Harry Hogge to the unforgettable enemies-to-friends arc with Rowdy Burns (played by Mich...

The Frighteners is a highly under-rated film. Everyone going into it thinking its a horror film and judging it based on that. It was a great story and highly entertaining...Jeffrey Combs never got the recognition he deserved despite showing time and time again that he is a GREAT creepy bad guy.

I'm one of the 10 or so people that actually paid to see this movie on opening weekend. I even remember where - it was the Orange Cinedome in Orange County, California. I was the ripe old age of 17. Going into the theater, my friend and I knew this would not be a supernatural movie. Keep in mind though mentioned in your review: they did NOT tell us that the first two scenes were subtitled, and if I didn't know ahead of time that Roy Scheider was in it, I would have presumed it was a foreign film. It was the second time I saw the movie in the theater (co-billed with "The Spy Who Loved Me" in which a title card was inserted at the beginning explaining about the subtitles. Anyways, back to the movie. Now we are past the one hour mark. Well, yes, by this time the storylines fell into place and we could see where this movie was taking us. But come on, what in heck did the title "Sorcerer" have to do with what we were seeing? Then comes that shot where we see the side of the truck. Till the day I die I will never forget the groan that came out of the audience - and nearly all of us said under our breath "it's the name of the TRUCK?" Yes, that was one very deceptive title. The bridge scene had everybody there gasping. But the other reaction I remember so well was the shovel murder. When the blood started spurting out of the guy's neck, the audience was one very big collective EWWWWWWWWW...... which brings me to the one point that nobody has yet addressed. How in hell did this movie manage to get a PG rating? It was positively gruesome in scenes - too gruesome for a PG rating. I guess so few people saw the movie when it first came out that nobody realized it was a PG movie. But yes, the movie did tank at the box office, and most of it was because of this little movie that opened a few weeks earlier called "Star Wars". And it would be YEARS before I would see any kind of a home video release. It was finally released on VHS - but not until something like 1992, and the original DVD release was such a lousy transfer I didn't bother buying it. I waited all the way until the blu ray was released before purchasing a disc version. And it remains one of my favorites. And to think, my friend and I really truly thought time was going to bury that movie and we would be the only two who would remember it. So glad it has been rediscovered and being appreciated once again.

The aliens didn’t accidentally sink a submarine. An alien drone was on a mission of some kind and the sub followed it into a trench. While the captain ignored warnings from other senior officers to abort. They cooked THEMSELVES while trying to cowboy the situation. I don’t think the aliens are inherently benevolent or malevolent. They looked at the nuke as a direct attack. Whether it was going to be successful or not. Most likely not, given the technical superiority of their technology. They probably would have weathered the explosion just fine. They stopped the tsunamis because Bud showed them that humans have the capacity to love one another and other beings such as the aliens. And self sacrifice. Which is something the aliens might not necessarily have it in themselves to do. Showing that humans in a way are a superior species in a spiritual sense.

But you right "Independence Day " and "V" .But just stick the original "V" mini series , and "The Final Battle " .And you should read the book from "V" .if could find along side , DC comics "V" where Donavan looks like a gunfighter in it ,and leas a Resistance Hero .well like Donavan was badass our side .

You kinda missed out the eighties right , cause "V'' was about something else .and was great NBC back in they day .But it's dated ,and the story is not old at all , and would been they rebooted "V" from the eighties .like there is lot of eighties cheesiness here , I mean you point here .But its good you finally seen for a kid your age , But maybe you should read the book on "V'' ,which was adoption the show into a book .And DC made into a comic book too ,which came when the tv show came on .And "V" came on before "Miami Vice " , it kinda this thing before TGIF Fridays on ABC .

The original ending bookends the film nicely. Keeps it all at sea. The new ending it’s like starting a whole new movie. Nuclear paranoia was waning in the last 80’s or at least it wasn’t such a novel idea that we were going to destroy ourselves that Cameron had to hit us over the head with it. That being said, I thought the original ending was kind of lame. The same movie probably could have been made without aliens.

I know nothing of the book, but imo agent47 is better than hitman(2007). It also reminded me of Terminator1 in parts. We all like different styles, this is only my preference. Neither is awesome tho, but both ok to watch. No movie ever lives up to any book version. Why? ...coz u personally create the visuals in your own head , which is different to everyone elses visualizing. Its personal, so no movie will ever come close to your personal creative imagination, which reflects your own choices.
