    Interesting seeing some of the changes over time. I bought mine in Feb 2022 and it was my first ever car. Mine does not have the metal link pin. Mine also has a totally plain black chassis (that I then applied an 'Arrma Skin' to). Odd that the changed the handset. The one with mine looks far more aesthetically pleasing, but of all of my cars, it's the only one with push button adjustments rather than twist knobs. I guess most (including me) would prefer 'pots' so maybe thats why they changed it. Hope you continue to enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed mine mate. I'm not a basher as such but I enjoy my cars on the many hills and woodland's trails that Gloucestershire has to offer.

      Hey bud Yes the DR8 is a great bit of kit for the money. Great thing is they have made improvements and addressed the weak spots highlighted by the end users. This is always something I enjoy to see. I recently fitted a gyro on mine and wow what a difference this made ripping through woodlands and dirt tracks. If you haven’t done it I would recommend the dumbo handset DDF-350 and a receiver with a gyro all super cheap on AliExpress I was honestly amazed how much difference this makes to the car when on the ground. I do bash a lot but I do also like a good circuit made up from the surroundings the planet provides us with

      @JPBashed I've always loved the handling of the DR8 and even as it is, it's probably one of the most planted I have compared to some others (Losi HammerRey for example looks great but is a real handful). I said to you in another video that I have a 'few' cars but I've just counted and it's actually 15 😀 My cupboard full of transmitters is now bursting at the seams, so at some point this year I'll probably want to look into a single 'programmable' handset (if that's the right word) and hook all of my cars up to that. I don't know if that's something you can do with the existing recievers in the car, but perhaps such a "How to" video might be a nice spring project for you? 😀

    • @JPBashed
      @JPBashed Месяц назад

      Wow 15 that’s some collection. I’d buy a dumbo DDR 355 and a load of the Giro receivers and put them all in. Unfortunately the existing receivers won’t work and should just be kept with the correct controller in case you decide to sell 😉. Happily do a receiver install and commission video for the Dumbo 😊👊

      @JPBashed .... well I'm into rock crawlers as well so 5 of those are crawlers of various sizes. Now that the misses has got used to me having 'toys' everywhere, I do want to get into RC planes next year, so I'll have to weigh up many spent there and pricing up if it's worthwhile getting all of my cars working from one handset. It may not be the best use of my money for now, but if I decide to, I'll come back and politely request a video. Cheers buddy. Good chatting to you.

    Thanks for the video dude, although it's kinda filled me with fear😀 Can I ask some advice, please? I've only been into RC's for 2 years and have got a handful of RTR's. I treat them fairly gently so never need to do any real maintainance yet apart from post run cleans. In otherworld, I'm fairly inexperienced with respect to taking stuff apart. My DR8 is my most used car (probably seen around 15 packs) and I swear it sounds louder these days. Everything still feels smooth when I turn individual wheels on the bench, all 3 diffs are behaving as they should, and the car still drives perfectly (and zero sign of any leaking fluid on the shelf where the car lives). But I don't think I'm imagining that it now seems mechanically louder. I assumed this meant I should have my first go at servicing the diffs, but your video has got me worried that I'd struggle to everything back together. I guess I'm asking if you think it's vital I should service the diffs now, or if everything still feels smooth, I could carry on enjoying the car at the rate I have been, and just worry about the Diffs as and when something actually fails (and just buy some spares when needed). Many thanks for any words of wisdom you can offer👍

    • @JPBashed
      @JPBashed 2 месяца назад

      Hi buddy. First off I’m no expert but I try to share my knowledge and experiences I gather from the community. If you have never serviced the diffs then yes I would strongly advise you do this as most come with minimal fluid in so 15 packs later you would be potentially in dangerous grounds. The DR8 is one of the more challenging cars I’ve worked on to do diff maintenance but my video is a worst case one as I’d never done them on this car before and it did take me a bit longer to work out the best way. I would suggest taking your time with it just do one diff each time you attempt the maintenance and then it won’t be as stressful. Remember where you take each screw out and place them down in a way that helps you remember how to put it back together. It’s not that bad just a bit fiddly. Think I covered most of it on the video so at least you have something to reference to and I’m here to help if you get stuck. Before you do any work make sure all screws you are attempting to remove are clean and dirt free. This will help get them out and back in. Sure you can do this. Just be patient and go at a steady pace and you will be fine. I have done other videos on how to replace the diff fluid in the diffs in more detail. I would suggest taking 1 x diff out. Cleaning it and filling back up and fitting back each visit. This way it will be more manageable. Any questions I’m here to help. You got this.

      @JPBashed .... Thanks for taking the time to answer mate and I appreciate your support. As soon as I hit 'send' I knew deep down what the answer would be. I guess I just needed someone to give me a bit of a push 😀 Hopefully after doing the relatively easy center diff, that will give me more confidence. I'll remember to use non-power tools (and a bit of soldering iron heat if necessary) to try and avoid stripping any fasteners. And on the more complex front and rear jobs, I guess I can always take photos on my phone of each stage to help me manage which holes different bits have come from (and I'll keep everything nicely laid out as well). Thanks again for your words of encouragement mate. I won't be doing this until the new year anyway, but once I have, I'll come back here with a 'Mission Accomplished' 😀 I shall now go and subscribe and enjoy a few other of your videos 👍

    • @JPBashed
      @JPBashed Месяц назад

      It’s really nice to have some interaction from a fellow enthusiast. You will do it I’m sure and just gain more confidence the more you do. Screw guns can speed things up but just make sure the screws are hand cracked before using to minimise damage to the screw heads. The ones to watch are the bottom ones on the chassis that hold the motor mount down. All the others should be pretty easy to get undone. The front and rear is t actually that bad. If you can manage the fiddly middle one the front and rear are pretty easy. Happy to do a break down of front and rear for you in real time if it helps. Thanks for the sub. I haven’t posted a video for nearly 2 months. Had a lot of life issues and I’ve kind of lost my drive and have t took my cars out for as long. Reading your message has made me think I should give myself a kick and get back on it so thank you 😊

      @JPBashed ... Thanks for the offer of a real time video but I don't want to put you out and also I just need to grow a pair. If I balls it up, then I'll come back and request a video 😀

      @@HornieCow Well this is an untested repair but as I have so many RPM arms that the hinge pins has ripped through when damaged, I thought of a way to put them back into service. I actually think this will stop any damage to the arm and can be installed from new. I develop stronger hinge pins already but they still bend with a bad enough crash. I think this repair method with actually make the setup a more durable one. When I have fitted a set on and sent the truck to the moon and bashed it hard I’ll do a damage report and see if it is actually a new way to make RPM arms go through hell. RPM arms are solid and the only weak point I’ve found is the hinge pin holes which open up over time and hard bashing. Thanks for your comments and interest.

      @@ProTuneHobbies Hi, can’t say I would agree with that comment about the durability. I have 2 x of these and we have given them some serious crap and they have taken most of it other than bending hinge pins and snapping lower arms but any car would have broke under those incidents. This broke because there is a concrete and metal strip that sticks out and OP Bashed hit it on the ramp and it cracked the wheel and shattered the bearing. Love the video! Pretty terminal damage at the end… but a great landing nevertheless!! When the stock rigid plastic rod ends bend and break is that because of one bad landing or are they constantly being stressed and then finally give up? Hard to know exactly how often they are “engaged” during a normal bash. Those towers are tall and only secured with the screws up through the chassis and skid plates into the plastic diff case. Once they give up those two towers are a huge weak point with a lot of leverage all the way down to the chassis. Hence the bent chassis. SNORI™️ bearing fix next time? 😅

They are 100% solid and work perfectly until it lands on the roof. The second it lands on the roof they shatter. I’ve sent it 50ft in the air and landed on all 4 and no breaks. Unfortunately I forgot about them breaking when landing on the roof and the jump before it broke I landed on the roof. The simple stress of landing a quad just bent the chassis because both brace end connected to the centre diff were broke. I know this due to previous testing and actually the penny dropped when discussing it in the MT8 Facebook group. Shame as we need to be able to buy the ends from TA without the brace. Will try the bearing trick and see how that works out but I suspect a hard enough bad landing would still bend the end. Time will tell brother.

    Hey, JP. It’s Jay from the MT8 Group. That was some wild bashing! Never seen a FWD Monster Truck 😆 hope you get it all back together soon for another round. What 3D Printed ends are you referring to in the video?

    • @JPBashed
      @JPBashed 4 месяца назад

      Hey Jay, thanks for dropping in and saying hi brother. Well I sell carbo fibre braces and part of that i had 3D printed ends made to sell with the braces as you cant buy the stock ones on their own which is very frustrating. So I have been testing them out and they have now cost me a chassis. Work great until you land on the roof and they just break!!! Wish I knew someone who could make some that are more flexible 😉, know anyone mate? 😂. Got my new chassis here and having a Titanium grade 5 one made. Watch this space, will announce by who later down the line.

      @@ProTuneHobbies Hey, I have 1million in the centre and 60 front and 30 rear, I was contemplating adding some weights to the front as I can’t find a decent surface long enough to get the power down soon enough. So what you recommending in the centre diff?

    • @ProTuneHobbies
      @ProTuneHobbies 5 месяцев назад

    • @JPBashed
      @JPBashed 5 месяцев назад

      @@ProTuneHobbies It’s a bit more complicated than that and it can be complicated to get right. This MT is generally wheelie crazy and loves to flip so it’s a tricky one. The centre diff with heavy fluid actually spreads the power more evenly to the wheels. The wheelie generally happens because the front wheels balloon and it drags the car up so more power to the front may not be the answer. However the wheels I use shouldn’t ballon much as they are belted and speed tyres. I will look into it more and see what I can change diff wise to compensate and give it a try. Thanks for your comments, appreciate it.
