Judith Anderson Archives
Канада
Добавлен 8 фев 2022
I have opened this channel as a new step towards my constant work of archiving the life and legacy of Dame Judith Anderson, as well as remembering her through the arts. Here you will be able to find much of Anderson's work in film, theatre, radio, and vinyl which may be difficult to find otherwise, so her work can be more easily accessible to those with interest to know her.
This project will be starting quite small, but will grow alongside the rest of my work in time. In the future I will expand with more resources, and with much eagerness to meet others with appreciation. My email is open for any questions or interest!
Thank you for checking in!
All my love,
Oetta Geraghty

The Señora (1956) The Star and The Story | Judith Anderson
A very special episode of The Star and The Story, a television series for short-form narratives. Many scripts and ideas for the series were taken from preexisting work, such as the short stories of authors like W Somerset Maugham, as was the case for this episode staring Judith Anderson.
What is especially fascinating about this spectacular episode was its rewriting of the original work, actually titled "The Very Romantic Girl", from Volume One of Maugham's short stories.
While it is unusual for the series to change the title from its source material, it's no wonder why the episode credits conceal the origin of "The Senora"-- a short story almost entirely detached from Maugham's written pr...

Here is The Bridge of San Luis Rey, a play from the DuPont Show of the Month in 1958, adapted by Ludi Claire, from the 1927 Thornton Wilder novel of the same name; the fantastic adaptation was received well at its release. The story follows the events surrounding five interconnected people as they had lead up to the tragic collapse of the Bridge of San Luis Rey. A story about divine questions; ...

An isolated clip from the documentary for Robinson Jeffers made after his passing, Rhapsody & Requiem, from 1967. Here, Anderson makes her appearance to reminisce about the making of their collaborative legacy-to-be; Jeffers' adaptation of Medea by Euripides, written by Anderson's request, and dedicated to her name. She had deep affection for his play which he had already written, Tower Beyond ...
The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre (1967) Judith Anderson, Martin Landau, Diane Baker - Horror/Mystery

The full feature-length film release of The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre, from the 1964 television pilot which ultimately fell through. The original hour-long episode was supplemented with unused footage intended for later episodes, to properly conclude the story and tie-off narrative threads as a single movie instead of leaving the intrigue to unfold in the proposed series, which sadly never made ...

Lady Scarface - Crime/Drama (1941) - Judith Anderson, Dennis O'Keefe

A rare B-film stars Judith Anderson as Slade, the villainous Chicago gangster wanted for money schemes and murder at the head of a band of criminals. Not a favourite for Old Hollywood film buffs the movie was riddled with strange pacing issues and ends too abruptly to experience any satisfaction. The movie flops overall, and tragically, while the film has many enticing elements in concept; part...

( Edit; July 2024: Sorry folks for the dreadful formatting of the clips. I compiled this edit three long years ago and I had no idea how to wrestle the programs I was using. I would gladly have replaced this with a sort of "remastered" edit, if youtube allowed for video updates, but it tragically doesn't. I have still searched for the completed interview, because the sudden cut off at the end a...
