This movie was a staple on those 'Creature Feature' programs in Australia (mainly Sydney) in the late 60s and early to mid 70s before disappearing believed to be lost for decades, gaining cult status before surfacing on dvd and bluray, about five years ago. I remember watching this late one Saturday night when I was about eight or nine, in the very early 70s, and the ghost of the title completely freaked me out. Thanks for uploading this. Happy memories!
Martin Landau was terrific in anything he was in. His career lasted his whole life! Loved him in space 1999!! I still watch the reruns online for free!
I just Saved several Diane Baker Movies to watch later! I just Love the way she dressed in all her Movies! I was a Teen in the 60s & her Hair, Fashions & All Together Looks are definately Indicative of that Era! It sure takes me back to those High School Days!
An interesting film I watched originally for Martin Landau then noticed Mrs Danvers and Dianne Baker, who excels in mad mother roles, even when it turns out not to be the mother, so definitely worth a watch.
Created by the same writer, cinematographer, and make up artist from the 1963 The Outer Limits series, it was no surprise that after this originally aired in 1964, people called in stating it was too frightening, causing the pilot to be dropped. One of the original series episodes titled SCARECROW was not shown in some cities for the same reason. No wonder Stephen King called The Outer Limits his favorite TV show! Another movie made by the same crew was THE INCUBUS (1966).
I used to watch this movie when I was a kid, I was terrified for the ghost hehehehe... love this horror movie! a must see for all the classic horror movie fans
This movie has the most creative opening I've ever seen and yes I watch a lot of movies. Going from a graveyard to city skyline to an ocean washing it out - amazing!
These movies are very easy to find elsewhere! The aim of my channel is to make available the more obscure, forgotten, and hard to find work of Anderson. There's more to come! Thanks for the Subscribe!
Dominic Frontiere fan here, and Diane Baker fan too, so obviously i love this film/pilot. The music sequence at about 7:50 to 8:50, when reworked, appears as a fundamental part of the soundtrack to The Invaders intro (throughout the series) being the music used during the "guest star" sequence. Appearing in the pilot of The Invaders in a key role, was the lovely... Diane Baker. Who also gets to walk off with free man Richard Kimble in the final scene of The Fugitive. For which the music was written by... Dominic Frontiere... 6 degrees of separation? Not even one degree with these people 😉
I also recognize that music, it was the intro music in the Invaders I love that sound it was so eerie, when David Vincent was looking for a place so he could sleep , then that spaceship came down for a landing. I am glad that someone else besides me recognize that music.
@@AmandathePandaBooks Asian news services reported it at the time. They said there was moaning and screaming, people asking for help , saying they were lost and in a strange place- the other side ?
It was released as a television pilot in 1964; this version was released in '67, using extra footage that was never used in the one-hour long pilot, to make a full length feature!

The older classic films are the best! Beats anything in the 80s, 90s, or the junk they try to pawn off these days!
I agree. There is nothing like the old horror movies of the 50's and 60's.
Judith Anderson doing another variation of Mrs Danvers from “Rebecca”.
Yes, it's fascinating how many homages they had included to her first "Ghost Story", Rebecca!
@@medeajerdana What about The Magnificent Ambersons?
One of rhe best!!!😀👍😃
very interesting combination of camera shots

A great ghost story.
What, no Rebecca or Cat on a Hot Tin Roof? No matter am subbing anyway.
Ms. Anderson, a most underrated actor. Thanks Uploader.

Judith Anderson was one of the most highly regarded dramatic actresses, perhaps even a notch higher than Agnes Moorhead, or at least equal to.
Excellent Horror Movie!

Well, I must say, not to my usual liken, but an excellent movie! Very Campy! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! It's certainly fun, and I'm happy to share!
It's not camp at all, other than the ultra-modern house.
@@nonenoneonenonenone Agree. CAMP is the Batman TV show & Mommie Dearest. This ghost movie is SCARUFYING >
Effective Ghost film
“The Haunted was designed to keep people from going to sleep at night!” - Martin Landau
Lovely lady.
I wonder if the blonde woman was the school teacher???
After the Asian mega tsunami thousands of people were tormented by phone calls from the dead crying for help
The cell phone services were backed up by the sheer volume of calls.
How did you find out??
@@AmandathePandaBooks This is a not uncommon occurrence in such situations; the system gets jammed up, and the calls get sent out as soon as possible.
