    Thank you for making this video! I’m learning Finnish words now mainly and when I learned that “physics” is called “fysiikka” I assumed that “music” would be “musiikka”, but evidently it’s “musiikki”. This is just how it is and has nothing to do with vowel harmony?

      I haven't looked at the etymology, but I suspect it's whatever the form was in the language it was borrowed from. Also, the way Finnish modified borrowed words changed over time.

    As a native turkish speaker finnish pronounciation is super easy for me. Wish I was in my 20s, I could master the finnish in a year I think. But my mind is not the same as before, so I keep forgetting the words. A pity bcs finnish sounds super cool for me 😊👍

    These are the diphthongs of Finnish: ai, ei, oi, ui, yi, äi, öi, au, eu, iu, ou, äy, öy, iy, ey , ie, uo, yö. So, 'eo' or 'ae' are not Finnish diphthongs.

    In Finnish 'n' doesn't make a syllable by itself, like in Japanese. For example: minun (my or mine), syllables are: mi-nun. In Japanese the final 'n' is a syllable by itself, but never in Finnish.

    How would you break up piirtää? Pii-r-tää or piir-tää (or (sounds weird) pii-rtää) Also things like Miksi Mik-si vs mi-ksi I personally feel like double consonants like tt are more like Mu-tta (instead of mut-ta) as in Japanese system with a pause between U and T "っ"

    • @aurasfinnishlessons7626
      @aurasfinnishlessons7626 Год назад

      Piir-tää, a consonant cannot make a syllable on it's own, it needs a vowel as a friend. Mik-si, there cannot be two consonants next to each other in a sylllable; here also consonant needs a vowel. Same in Mut-ta ("but"), no two consonants in a row in the same syllable. Mu-ta ("dirt"). A goes naturally with T, so the A does not form its own syllable :)

    May I ask what is the tongue’s position when pronouncing “L”? Finnish L sounds very distinct, it sounds like a Russian L to my ears sometimes (the tongue is between teeth).

    Nice video! The student needs to develop his or her own individual learning system adapted to your daily routine, area of activity, rhythm of life, interests, etc. First of all, you need to understand what problems are preventing you from learning a foreign language effectively. There is a lot of good material for learning a language on the Internet, but many people don't know how to use it as effectively as possible. However, the practice of Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" will help you structure and organize your individual language learning process, allow you to find a method of language learning that will be interesting and unencumbered. Also, subscribe to this channel, because here the author puts very useful videos on learning a language! Thank the author of the channel for the great work in the creation of training videos!
