We Left Ethiopia 🇪🇹 (be back soon…)
We are on vacation in the US and got a chance to visit Legoland California! It is such a blessing that our children can have the best of both worlds! They are being raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, but also have the ability to travel. I can wait to see where life takes us in the future! It’s not always easy, but God is always so good to us 🙌🏾

    Hey i enjoy watching your videos and seeing you experience addis through your POV. I just wanted to add my personal thoughts on the education in Addis. As a half ethiopian diaspora, having lived in Addis for 7 years, and taken all my highschool education here, most of the teachers i encountered barely spoke any english and mostly spoke in Amharic, mind you i studied in an international school, so my education was affected greatly and i had to work twice as hard as my peers to keep up with the lessons and still graduated with a crappy GPA that i am too ashamed to share lol. I also had a couple of awful teachers fail me or not grant me the grade i rightly earned due to me being a foreign student, but its a long story for another time.. So, if you can afford it, I really recommend that you have teach your kids in a well renowned international school where teachers speak proper English. I wish you and your family the best as you continue navigating life in addis 🫂

    • @princesslivingfree
      @princesslivingfree 15 дней назад

      Yes, the Ethiopian school system is a bit different than the Western one. If your child doesn’t know how to read and write yet or if they have a birthday after September, they will want him to be in pre-kg. Some schools have 3 levels before 1st grade! You can insist they put your child in kg if you want, but honestly, I found pre-kg to be really good for my 5 year old.

    Your criticism of city development is unfounded. Just because you are tired of the Western world do you expect locals to live in the Stone Age ? Okay we will halt progress for your sake. If you long for a traditional lifestyle, consider moving to the countryside. Additionally, city development is necessary and those who legally owned property were compensated accordingly. My advice to you is to only speak on topics you are knowledgeable about.

    • @princesslivingfree
      @princesslivingfree 17 дней назад

      @@EternalLife-fu6nk Actually, your criticism of me is unfounded. If you have been watching my blogs, you would see that my family and I are very much enjoying the development (parks, museums, etc.) There are both pros and cons to it, however, and in this particular video, I was expressing the things I’ve witnessed firsthand. I have seen and heard of many legal businesses and land owners losing their property without compensation. Also, with high levels of foreign investment come foreign strings and control. Those are a few of my concerns, and I did not want to come across insensitive to those who have been negatively impacted. However, a lot good is also coming out of this development, and it is nice to see that Ethiopia is trying to rise out of poverty as a nation. P.S. I LOVE the rural areas more than the cities, and I have lived there. At this time though, the city works better for our family.

    I was in Ethiopia Nine years ago! The PM then was Meles Zenawi! Adiss Abeba was very safe during the day! I went to see my mother In -Gohatsion- it was peaceful ,I enjoyed my stay there! Food is always Amazing in Ethiopia! I miss my Ethiopian culture and people! I miss the Orthodox Churches! However I live in California,with my kids, for now and I will see what the future holds! May be I will visit Ethiopia! Than you for your info- I appreciate it !
