It’s crazy it’s 10 years later and this video is still useful. What’s also crazy is that Xbox 360 controllers are still good as new unlike Xbox one, ps5 and switch controllers that get stuck drift after a week

It’s cool going back to this. My rgh system came in just a few days ago! I’ve got most of the stuff down except extracting .iso files and adding dlc. I’ve seen all the videos on RUclips for both and I keep running into roadblocks. Luckily I’m in no rush but it’d be nice to get more games. I gotta figure out how to install from disc to hdd but I’m only a week in 💪🏻 I’ll get there

Hey i did this on my controller but the dpad isnt respnding well to the up motion wants to go left or right, any suggestions?

Don’t waste your time. Does not work well at all. Everything but up works well for me. Up doesn’t even register. EDIT: Fixed it. Only follow this tutorial up until the point he takes the inner rim out, then stop right there. All you had to do is clip two of the pegs off on the transforming d-pad, just like how the original d-pad only has two pegs, it feels A LOT better now and the inputs are much more accurate. Did this in a wireless AND a wired.

As others have said, thanks. I bought three of these dpads not knowing I'd have to mod it. Followed your example and it's basically perfect.

In stead of doing the circle method with the outer layer. I found it easter to take a small philips screw driver and make holes around the d pad layer and then proceed to chip the rest of the prices with a flat head screw driver. This was a very helpful toturial. I thank the person for making this.

Hey buddy thanks for posting this video. I know you posted it like 7 years ago, but I still use XBOX 360 controllers and I've decided to purchase one of these transforming D-pads. Everything went according to plan because of the video.

How about cutting two edges from the Dpad? Instead of making two holes at the controller

I also did this but used an existing top shell from a controller with a rotating D-pad. The shell and the D-pad fit right into place on the USB controller and it's working perfectly. Might be handy if you already have both controllers. The only thing I needed to buy was a torx security bit screwdriver for like $5.

I fucked up my controler, did exactly what you said and the D-Pad doesn't work properly, cheers man.

The problem with my xbox 360 controllers are the D-pad i cannot Jump Backwards or Forward when pressing the D-pad arrow up +arrow left, or Arrow up+arrow right is like stuck :( I cannot enjoy Fight games on this controller, and by playing with the Analog is terrible :( :c And this is a brand new controller i'm from Venezuela and i cannot RMA because is more expensive to me to send it back... than buying another one, and i dont have money lol :/

Just a suggestion, after sanding I would use a VERY small amount of acetone on a paper towel on the plastic after sanding to remelt the plastic. this would look a bit cleaner.

Eh... my d-pad was still pretty assy, even with this mod. I kept going thinking I could make it better but I just completely ruined the front cover. I think the issue with the d-pad is that it has to function so far away from the board, so it's less rotation and more "pressing down on all of the buttons until the weakest link gives in".

Thanks for the idea man, got a dev kit with a smashed av port and desoldering the bad one has been an effort in futility. just a quick question, which points do you have the white wires going to? does any point that is ground work? i know that theres a pin which tells the 360 whether or not to use comp or vga, did you need to solder one onto that point?
