BK DPH Back to Back P25 Repeater
In this video I demonstrate how to connect 2 BK DPH portables to form a simple P25 onsite repeater. Using the rx audio and speaker enable line from a DPH acting as the receive portion of the repeater, passing that audio and ptt indication on to the DPH transmit radio.
The connections on the receive radio require fine soldering skills. If you aren't sure, try on some other junk board of the same dimensions until you perfect your technique. DPH's are great radios, use care.
The ptt and tx audio are done through the accessory connector on the transmit DPH. There is no modification to that radio at all, only the receive radio. The receive radio has a screw hole that the 2 wires can be fed thro...

    • @dc95811
      @dc95811 15 часов назад

      Just audio, the only id will be of the transmit portable. You can do analog to analog, or mix mode by the channels you select. The logic involved in passing ids is why P25 repeaters are so expensive. This is definitely a poor man's version. P25 on the receive makes it almost as good as a full priced repeater because the audio is perfect going into the transmitter, not adding noise.

    So i disconnected the lower thermostat( it got corroded from a small leak,shorted and fu the upper thermo). So discovered ( with a brand new upper thermo only) that by flipping the breaker on for 8 to 10 minutes(stop watch) I have enough hot water for my shower,wash the dishes by hand, and my wife's shower.SERIOUSLY!!!.And its still luke warm 3-5 hours later. So one 4500 watt element for 8 minutes works out to 600 watt hours to heat up the upper portion of the 30 gallon tanks sufficiently to achieve the above tasks. And by leaving it off eccept for several minutes in the morning the thermo and element has less longterm wear and tear.May eventually have to replace the breaker but thats cheap.Hey it works so well for us im thinking of getting a solar chargeable 12v 100ah lifep04 plus a 600watt dc heating element. Then just have the batt dump to the heat element for an hour or so each morning and ....walaaaah no more hot water heating bill. Next is running wash machine cycle 1-2 times a week off another solar charged batt using the same idea.....and so on. After a cloudy,rainy day or dark winter days may have to use a 12dc 50+ amp power supply to supplement the battery. Solar vacuum tube water heating systems are too EXPENSIVE and complicated and probably will never break even.

    The thing you are missing is the duplexer has TWO notches for a reason. Yes the big side is the receiver side notching out the transmitter frequency. BUT you also have a notch for the receive frequency on the transmitter side for a very good reason. The transmitter is going to have some noise on the RX frequency, it’s not enough to be picked up a mile away but it’s enough to dense the receiver with an antenna right next to it. There is a reason this isn’t done.

    • @dc95811
      @dc95811 Месяц назад

      Both notches are used, 1 blocks the transmit freq and the other blocks the receive from going into the dummy load. The duplexer is tuned the same as a normal application. It works perfectly as described if you transmit high (159Mhz) and receive low (151Mhz). I found that if I reversed the tx and rx frequencies I would get a very large desense that would really limit the coverage. Your timing is amazing on the comment because I did find the cause and a solution to that problem. I learned that most all of the times I blamed desense on a receiver having its frontend overloaded, it was more likely a near-field on-frequency rf product that was desensing it. I just made this video showing how it does it.

    • @BVN-TEXAS
      @BVN-TEXAS Месяц назад

      That’s not how that works with the dummy lord. You are basically only using one side of the notch. The reason for the transmit side going through the duplexer is so that side notch can be set to notch out any spurious signals coming out of the transmitter that would be on the receiver frequency. The amount of loss you are going to see by running the transmitter thought the duplexer is really not much. Plus by using using the same antenna for both you won’t end up with an alligator or elephant repeater. And I say this from having a mobile repeater in my 4Runner and having a uniform antenna pattern is really the goal and makes you no always wonder about TX or RX issues.

      @dc95811 Месяц назад

      I know exactly what you are talking about. A reverse bridge. I had the same idea for rs-232. The answer is no. People were so afraid of the high leg that they pulled the fuses to the high legs at the service disconnects, but that way it can never be balanced, so I’m using the high legs and one other leg for each and every 240volt device, then when everything is finally done and working, I plan to balance things using a clamp on amp meter. I’m not a licensed electrician, but I do what I can before calling in the electricians to check everything and fix any issues prior to inspections, saves my boss a whole lot of money that way.

    I know this is old, however, at 33:00m you say the c-soft output is UDP and goes out to all ports on the Ethernet switch - the former is technically correct, the IP 226.x.x.x address indicates multicast and is how UDP traffic could propagate to all ports, it is not phony. Otherwise, good video and much better than trying to read the install manual.

    You seem knowledgeable on this. Would you have any idea as to why only some of the buttons on a phone generate a tone ? I have 50vDC, new jack, new phone but I only have the bottom rows of tones from button presses… my thought is bad wire getting induced voltage from nearby 480 VAC motor circuits but I do not know. Any tips would be appreciated.

      I would want to do a double swap with a known good phone. Does the "bad" phone still not work when plugged in to a jack that usually works? And does the phone that is known to work show the same "bottom row only" effect when plugged into the original jack? My guess from those symptoms is that it's just a bad phone.

    I really liked this video. We have to do this tomorrow on medium voltage. Will this method work if I use a VT to lower the voltage and the proper oscilloscope?

    • @dc95811
      @dc95811 6 месяцев назад

      The transformer should not effect the phase. I cut my oscilloscope probe and installed a 10M ohm resistor in series, so it would be ultrasafe. Scope is already grounded so all you need is the single probe.

    Hi sir I need some help from you I have ublox gps neo M8N And nano arduino I need take signal from gps by baudrate 9600 then convert it to 4800 For use as external gps In nikon 850d camera Cuz the camera need 4800 bit only How i can do it Please help me❤

    • @dc95811
      @dc95811 7 месяцев назад

      It is impossible to directly convert that without being able to control the sentences put out by the GPS, and the rate at which the GPS outputs the sentences. Too many sentences means too much data without enough time to get it out, and the buffer gets involved and then quickly overfills. So you would have to reprogram the GPS. But here is the good news. The GPS module can be reprogrammed for 4800 baud. If you look on page 36 of the mega spec sheet on the NEO-M8 at the link below, you will see 4800 is a selectable option. I know you have to use UBlox U-Center to reprogram the modules. I haven't done it myself, I'm a Garmin guy. But there is lots of videos on using it. content.u-blox.com/sites/default/files/products/documents/u-blox8-M8_ReceiverDescrProtSpec_UBX-13003221.pdf

    i have a hp zbook and wifi works great but when i connect the ethernet cable wifi will turn off i followed a few YT videos and modifying the registry or BIOS wont work any suggestions?

    • @dc95811
      @dc95811 8 месяцев назад

      There are a lot of things that have to be clarified. 1. First define what you mean by wifi "turns off". That could mean many different things. Is it disconnecting but staying enabled? Is it disabled? Or does it just not work? 2. If you unplug the ethernet cable, does the wifi automatically start working again? If not, what exactly do you have to do to get it working on wifi again? 3. The NCSI, the network connectivity status indicator, will always take ethernet control as far as what is seen in your task tray at the bottom right of your screen, that is because it wasn't meant to show 2 at the same time. But that doesn't mean wifi isn't connected at the same time and is working. I could just go on and on. But I think in answering these questions you would find the answer to what is happening. Think of it from the app's side, it wants this data and it has 2 choices from where to get it from, which does it choose. If it thinks it can only get that data from just 1 side it will always pick that side to get it. Task manager performance screen is the only real way to easily see what it is chosing in real time.
