looking good. You might be surprised how the bumpers polish out. They did good chrome back in the day.
Try marine chandler's for your window seals.....or boat window makers. Some places do all different rubber mouldings .
looking good
@@MH-wg6bz Thanks very much
The factory did not have a drain hole for the A post. That's why the lower A post and hinge rots out. I drilled a hole at the bottom of the A post into the rocker panel for drainage when I repaired that part.
I added the extra 1/2 in to the tail when I dealt with my repair piece. I just started at the wheel end and worked my way back. I guess it doesn't matter. That repair panel is just too short any way you do it.www.mgexp.com/journal/pictures/486116/IM005953_006.jpg
Makes you wonder if that full panel would have been any better fit
I think the round arch saves a bit of the rusting you get above the rear wheels. No level areas to collect dirt and moisture. I had to repair both of my square arches on my 69 Midget. I had the same issue with the lower rear corner replacement panels. They didn't fit that well and left me short where they intersect the rear tail seam. I had to form and weld in another 1/2 in of metal. No clue why they would make the panel short.
Just done all this on my midget. Both sides and a new rear valence too. Fiddly job mate.
@@MegaBuckfast Thanks very much
@ keep up the good work and if you get bored working on yours, feel free to come and do mine too 😂
Есть пословица - на обиженных воду возят. Попробуйте перевести на английский
Ah man watching your breath there it must be cold in the shop!
Very similar rust issues to my 73 RWA Midget. I replaced the lower door hinge as mine had all but disappeared like yours. If I was doing the job again I think I would replace both the upper and lower hinges as I think you can get a panel with both hinges welded to the A post. It took ages to get the lower hinge repair panel in the right place and it’s not a great repair panel to start with.
Yes, it’ll be better than it was before. My door warped when I cut a pasted a panel along the bottom. Amazing what you can do with body filler!
That door is slightly too low in its place being wedge shaped that makes it run out of gap lift the door up slightly will fit the space a lot better
Great work and great to see the process in detail, put a sub in my midget and put it in the boot, sounds great, just bought one of the underseat type ones.
Nice to see a British revival please don’t look at welding light “ark eye” is a killer when you re tacked the curve and looked is enough to burn your eyes. Keep up the good work look forward to seeing the finished job.
My garage with my BGT and Midget was wringing wet this afternoon also. It’s the sudden change in temperature and moisture content in the air condensing on cold cars. I remember making all the same repairs to my Midget a few years ago now.
Hiya bud.....my garage is full of condensation. I have motorcycles in mine and all have a dust cover and are bone dry. Only one bike wheel was uncovered and it was wringing wet. I've see this every winter bud. A cover makes a massive difference. Good luck with ta car. I'm in the looking stages of midget ownership.
Thanks for posting, this is a job that I will have to do but for now I have started at the front end. made a rotisserie out of two engine stands
@Slew62 Good luck on your project thanks
I have to say, I am impressed. When you started the project I thought 'here we go, this is going to be another forgotten you tube resto'...But not only is it flying along, you have some good ideas to future proof the shell as well as good ideas for the interior to make it a more useable car in modern traffic. The indicators are a very clever touch and dont look out of place to me anyway. Nice work, thanks for sharing.
@podd372 Thanks very much 👍
to leje sie z wybieraka , a nie z polosi
How iwish ican solve that problem from mine as it doesn't have that seal but it's leaking,it is 2001 fiat palio 1.2 leaking from both sides.any advise.
Nice to see a summary of the rot areas and pending work 👍
That looked quite good when you started. Like they say never judge a book by its cover . Saying that mine is ten times worse than yours. Keep tracking on you will get there in the end . Keep showing progress it makes me feel like I'm not the only nutter out there 💯
@@debbiebullock-y2q Thanks very much 👍
I’ve been doing almost the exact same work on our 72 midget. I’ve been at it for 4 yrs so far
Loved this ❤
Thank you for preparing and sharing your excellent video! I thoroughly enjoyed this and found it really helpful…..thank you very much! 😊
Do you fit in the midget ok , just you look quite tall ?
When's the next video?
Wouldn’t bother with car should sort your weed probleout
Well done, hope you enjoy the journey. Just remember when it comes to rust on an old classic, think of the ice berg principle, what you see 'above water' is tripled by what you can't see below the surface, hope its not that bad. I'd keep the colour!!!! don't change it (too many are changed to red etc) and these Midgets of this era look so good with the round rear wheel arches.
@marknelson5929 Thanks for the comments, quite agree about the rust and...it's staying green!! 👍
Good to hear its is staying green or should I say staying Tundra Green its actual colour from what I can work out.
Should keep you out of trouble for a good while. Might be worth putting it on a rotisserie if you’re planning on doing lots of welding and paint stripping. Makes things much easier.
Thanks very much for the advice
Nice color! Can’t wait to get mine. Good price? Cheers!

Everyone who liked this video, has Or had a fiat grande punto 🦧
Thanks for the video. Was helpful. Mine punto left drive shaft seal gone after 3.87 lakhs km drive
Is there ment to be any up and down movement on the cup and spindle that goes in to the gearbox on the passenger side?
Quite possibly the most annoying set of brake shoes ever to adjust, always a bit more 😭
Oh yes! I have done many drum brakes over the years, but those on my Fiat Panda 2011 (Same as these) are a b***h to adjust! 😞
സൂപ്പർ👍
gotta get a bigger hammer . good video . at 78 years young I still do my own mechanicing .. albeit a tad on the slow side .I would love to be able to make videos like you can . My latest battery hand tools are Milwaukee. excellent . My air impact guns were not up to any tight jobs.
the amount of corrosion on that car is aweful. I have retired to southern Portugal and we rarely see frost let alone snow . first thing I made was a nice insulated 8 x 8 metre car port . My 50 plus year old trolley jack still does the business.
OOPS that is a good way to shear off the disc countersunk screws .
Keen is that snow on the ground .?. Have fun .
I have the same aduster on the rear brake shoes on my 2021 Fiat Panda Hybrid . I assumed the shoe clearance was self adjusting . You seem to be doing a suck it and see adjustment .
