We forget that we are an apex predatory species. But with a conscience and self awareness. So how do we balance our animal nature with our human mind? As modern technology grows, we are more sheltered in our homes then before, stuck on screens..... but not out in nature, not running or playing, not building forts in the forest or making fires at camp. The tigers need to hunt and run is a primal instinct. I love cats, I got a little grey housecat named Mouchi, and he is an outdoor cat. I could never keep him as an indoor cat cause I see how much he loves to explore, hunt, or just be outside napping. I actually got into an argument on reddit cause of a few people complaining that I should keep the cat inside and I was putting him in danger by letting him go outside where he might get run over or something. They also tried to claim that indoor cats live longer, just like that tiger in the cage. But I don't care.... better to run free in the wilds then be caged and live a bit longer before you die. My cat is currently 15 yrs old too btw, which is like 5 yrs older then a typical housecat. He is a champ, bit older and lazier and usually just hangs out inside anyways, but he has the freedom to go in and out as he pleases..... heck he even still (rarely) brings back the occasional fieldmouse, bird, or even rabbit. They are true predators, amazing to watch.

Peterson himself mentions that "the meek shall inherit the earth" is a mistranslation that more accurately says "those who have swords and know when to wield them shall inherit the earth". Modern christianity, failing to understand this, indeed is overcivilized and false. Yet this sorry state has no more bearing on the true power and vigor of rightful christianity than the sad state of modern pagans has on the true strength of pagan morality. The wolf may shred the donkey but it has no power over the lion nor can it touch a lamb who has overcome death itself.

I think what you are really looking for is the Middle Path or the sweet spot on the bell curve. When you get a little older and your body suffers more aches and pains, you will relish the comfort of a good bed and a nice sofa, even if you still love camp fires and the night sky after a long hike or hunting in the woods. These things can easily be integrated into a rural lifestyle where you have a good home garden, go hunting and canoeing and fishing as you please. This is still civilization, but not the cramped work-a-day slave reality tied to your phone that you are railing against.
