Awesome video. What are the settings on your 360 camera? Do you have the sharpness at medium or low? what's the EV? I can't get mine to look as clear as yours.
Thanks! It's actually not a 360 camera, just a GoPro Hero 11. I'm running 5.3K, 30 FPS, Hyperview, -1.0 EV Comp, 1600 Max ISO, 5500K White Balance, and low Sharpness.
Why post the video if you aren't going to hit the features???
Looks like a perfect October trail
I really respect those who abide trail etiquette. We used to respect it all the time. There are a lot of riders now that think this does not apply to them. It does! Keep being awesome! You reflect great on our community. ❤
Great video, wow, it is hot even in Flagstaff!
I always hate overgrowth when it involves thorn bushes (ouch) or tall grass (ticks). The roots seemed pretty tame. 🙂
Great job! Climbing lower brookbank is no easy task.
👍👍👍
OMG, those Aspens groves are AWESOME!!!
Awesome! We're going to ride this tomorrow morning!
when are you going to make it to Bean Peaks.. its the new thing lol. went up few weeks ago and it was amazing.
@drewsky1967 Was actually planning to this weekend, but it's too hot for me. Definitely soon though!
@@DonaldRidesBikes for sure. I was there from like 6:30 to 9am and was nice. Beat the heat. I might go again Sunday early morning.
Donald - thanks so much for your series of flagstaff videos. They inspired me to drive up today from the Phx metro and give them a try. Really enjoyed the trails, the weather, the trees, and all the nice.people on the trails. Thank you!
That's awesome! Happy to hear you enjoyed riding in Flag.
Followed link from your Reddit post. You did the climb too?!? Bruh!!!
Dang Donald! Looks like it’s fairly straight, fast, flowy! Some serious momentum. Looks fun!
It was a ton of fun! Your video from Bean Peaks looked pretty similar, I'll have to get down there to check that out soon.
What no pads?
Bro, no kneepads???? My g form x3 pads were cheap and have saved me multiple times. id get the elbow pads too. once you get used to them you won't even know they're there
I rode that a few weeks ago. It was fun, but the camera doesn’t quite capture the steepness of descents. The flow is amazing
Nice trails, I rode those last fall.
Whoops! Your stem slipped a little in the crash so your handlebars are a little crooked.
Haha I don't know how I didn't notice that during my ride, but just checked the bike after you said it, and you were 100% correct. Thanks!
I'm going! e-bikes allowed?
According to Trailforks, no, e-bikes are not allowed.
Nice ride! thanks for sharing! are there any wildlife/mountain lions there that I should be worried about?
I know there are mountain lions and black bears in this area, but I've been riding here for almost 3 years and never seen either one, so probably not something you need to be too concerned about.
One of the crew building Full Sail saw a mountain lion repeatedly. But during the day, unlikely to have an issue.
I rode medl last summer... really enjoyed that area and the exposure on some of the trails.
Thanks for the video, looks fun! Roughly how much time did it take for the climb and descent together (start to finish)? Eventually want to ride there but would probably be passing through on way to Sedona.
About 3.5 hours total, just under 3 hours moving
Flagstaff has some of the best trails! Thanks for sharing! Way to know your limits and not get hurt!
Hey Donald! Havent ventured too far in schultz yet. How is the parking lot cell or data service? Fairly off grid or are there some camp spots with decent data connection?
I've got AT&T, and from the parking lot / lower Schultz trailhead service is usually fine, but as soon as you start climbing from there, it gets very spotty. At the Sunset trailhead, at the top of Schultz Pass Rd, I get zero reception. Also not sure on camping spots at the moment, I think a lot of the area is still closed for camping due to fires and flooding the past couple of years, so I would look into that first before you go if you plan on camping. It's a great area to ride though, have fun!
Haha I explained it the exact same way to my buddies back down in the valley. A bigger an better version of big sister! So much fun!
That area looks super nice. I wish I had shade to ride in…
Dig the swing!
the weather looking great and starting to get super green !
this looks like a great trail in the pines. Last time I was in Flag years ago seemed to just be all technical climbs. guess i was in the wrong areas
They've built a lot of new trails, and rerouted some old ones, just in the last year or two, so if you haven't ridden Flag in a few years, you may be pleasantly surprised!
Thanks for the video. I didn't know about this gem of a trail. Went and rode it this weekend and it was awesome. It was also completely dry in June.
Looks like Full Sail isn't on trailforks yet. Do you have strava or anything so I can see your route? I'm headed that way this weekend.
It's on Trailforks - I put a link in the video description! I've been using the web version lately instead of the app, and it shows up there just fine. On the app though, I can see the trail name marked in the correct spot, but the actual path of the trail is missing, even after I manually resync the region.
@@DonaldRidesBikes That's what I get for not reading... That's what I could see. Just the name.
I appreciate your persistence. Enjoyed watching your 'not quite' attempts. I so wish POV cameras could convey the steeps.
It’s easily my favorite trail in flag but damn it’s a beast of a climb to get up there. I’m looking forward to the road opening back up to be able to session the trail or just be able to do a quick ride after work.
Nice! What a great trail and such a beautiful area too.
Very clean trails! Well maintained. Love that area. Going to NM for a couples weeks of travel/riding. Any recommendations?
Strava?
I usually keep my Strava rides private, just for my own use, but if you are looking for a map, these trails are all on Trailforks and there are links in the video description.
Bro, that heavy breathing into the microphone!!! 😳
It's four miles of standing out of the saddle, and dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome. That's after about a five/six mile climb to get to it. The trail is fun, but it ain't easy, and getting to it is even more difficult. Give the fella a break since he made such a great video. Instead of these types of comments, I find it is more helpful to provide comments on what you like rather than what displeases you. I hope your peddle smashing is strong, and you get to ride hero dirt rather than moon dust. 🤘
@@ccdog76Relax chief, overall the video was great! The loud breathing was really distracting. Maybe just move the microphone a few inches further away!
Love your videos and this trail looks flowy as can be. But I’m kinda confused by them making everything rollable but then putting in bypasses. Isn’t that the point of rollable
I think the bypasses are to make the trail rideable for as many people as possible. I know when I first started riding, I would have been intimidated by some of those rock rolls, but still would have enjoyed the rest of the trail. It also gives people options to progress on the same trail - take the bypasses a few times, gain the confidence to try the rolls, and eventually start airing off them instead of rolling.
What pressures you run on your tires if don’t mind me asking?
Not OP, but I run mine at about 20psi with Cush Core front and back.
Thank you for show casing Arizona trails so well! I recently rode at Hawes for the first time and hit Big Sister twice. I heard your comment on a video saying it may be your favorite trail and I agree, it is so much fun. Now I want to get up to Flag and ride this one!
this trail looks amazing, i had to watch this one twice !
I was up there over the weekend. I ended up not riding any trails. I decided to finally climb the Elden Lookout Road on my gravel bike and another gravel ride down by Mormon Lake. Had I known about this one, it may have changed my mind. I suppose I will have to make another trip up from Tucson soon.
Was Elden Lookout Rd all clear of snow and dry to the top? I haven't done that climb since fall, but was debating it for this weekend.
@@DonaldRidesBikes Yeah, it was totally dry up there.
If you get the chance, Full Sail, on a graveller, is a hoot! But it is better on a MTB. With the rain coming in this week, there's a strong change for hero dirt.
Wow! My hat is off to the builders of that ultimate flow trail.
Credit goes to Flagline Trails!
What long sleeves do you wear?
They are UV shirts from Roadbox. $20 on Amazon, and a bunch of different colors.
Where is this trail at in town?
It's just south of Flag, near Kachina Village.
Great ride and video. Hope the cyclist that crashed is ok.
I hope that rider that you helped is OK. Good going. Scary stuff. Been there, done that.
What is the name or location where i can park and begin this trail ? I would love to head out there, im currently just an hour away. Please reply
It's marked on Google as Schultz Creek Trailhead, and on Trailforks as South Schultz (The Y).
@DonaldRidesBikes thank you will be going in 15 days when my bike arrives
Another nice one. 👍
