I would suggest reaching out to Scott to talk options on the dusk cover and ask him about the Vulcan weight. Don't want to give you the wrong information. I wish I could be more helpful.

Atlas is the only game in town that does the grip panels on 2011s. I've got XXL hands and the KW grips fit me just fine but those Atlas step panels do make a big difference. We got big hand problems brother😢😢

@@claymac2011 Yes sir! We got the big hands problem brother! I purchased the Alien Creator Limited Optics in April and even with their Palm Swells Grips I'm still having issues. I have Lok Grip Palm Swells or some other version on all my guns. I'm most likely going to end up purchasing an Atlas as my next firearm solely because of the palm swell panels. All the best!

I was a little apprehensive throwing down $3500 on him as well but after you speak with him you'll know he's the real deal. Did you checkout my review and parts breakdown on my Vulcan? Most of the information is in those two videos but I'll give you the high points. The frame is manufactured from 416 stainless steel and the slide is from 17-4 stainless steel. I've got 3800ish rounds through my Vulcan with no issues. I've been testing his Defender model( haven't done a review) but I put 1100 rounds through it plus the 5K+ that went through it for the range day he held no issues so far. I own 17 2011s and the Vulcan is my favorite to date. The action on his guns are so so smooth and really well built especially for the price point. Hope this helps.

@claymac2011 It does man I appreciate it. Definitely the prettiest 2011 I've seen south of an Infinity etc. Interested in the Defender because I wanna carry it so that's why I asked about reliability, especially with the ports.

@@Enyalus87 That's what I'm here for. Love helping folks get into a great 2011. I think you'll really like the Defender with the new mainspring housing and flared magwell because it's really low profile. Plus his guns again are really well built and shoot like a dream. My next option in the $3K-$4K is the MPA DS9 Commander. I really love MPA 2011s for build quality and performance but I think my Vulcan is better IMO.

@claymac2011 Cool you mention that. I only own one 2011 and it's a DS9 Hybrid, their IDPA model. I love it but it annoys me the barrel isn't flush cut, and at 5 inches it's a little much to carry. So yeah, was definitely looking for something in the same price range. Was considering this and Kovert x RCD RC9.

@@Enyalus87 I shot my buddies RCD RC9 4.25 ported a couple months ago. Once again, great gun but I still prefer my Vulcan/Defender. I think the Defender shoots softer than the RC9 but YMMV. He had the the one RCD model not Kovert version, I found the port holes to be very small on the RCD model and hit me in the hand a little too hard for a ported 2011 IMO.

Thomas, Thomas...Good morning bruh! Ain't nobody want no cheap plastic grip on their expensive 2011 😂 j/k Like I said, I prefer an all metal 2011 but if you like polymer go for it. I honestly don't care what anyone rocks as long as your happy with your gun. Just know that the plastics grips are significantly cheaper to manufacture and is their version of cutting costs to hit a price point. Now on to my assessment of the JG Black, I graded it an 84/100. Last time I checked that's a solid B in academics. I believe that's a fair grade on my sample size but if someone feels different about my grading again no worries brother. I just do these reviews as a hobby to help people really understand what they get in a build and for companies to level up their guns. Lastly, you'll listen to me regardless of what I say because you like busting my chops! 😎 FYI: I fell on the ice Friday night and hurt my shoulder pretty bad so I can't shoot at the moment. Hopefully, I'll be okay to shoot at ShotShow but I'm pretty bummed at the moment, 😢😢

@@Thomas-vt7cz Absolutely! I was eyeing those up as well but I don't like that it only has the RMSc footprint. My eyes are getting older and I need that big window red dot. All DS1911/2011s are expensive vs a striker fired gun but it's getting pretty crazy with the price increases across the board. I'm hoping to get in some more budget friendly options but I working my high end 2011s at the moment.

@@DDEVITIS Thank you. I really try to give as much information as I can. I would love to but I don’t own a DS9🥲My buddy has the DS9 and the LOC that I’ve shot quite a bit. When he comes over to my range we shoot each other’s guns. I could do a mini review but my biggest problem is I like to tear my guns apart on my reviews. Unfortunately, I won’t do it on a gun I don’t own and I’m not sure if he’d be down for me pumping 1500 rounds through his gun 😂For what it’s worth, I believe the DS9 is the best built 2011 at $3K. I always ask these questions, What’s your use case? What’s your budget? Let me know.

@@claymac2011use case (I’m thinking that means what kind of shooting do I do), well I try to shoot as much IDPA as I can ( currently using my OA Defense 2311 pro, Glock 34 (Johnny G trigger system), Staccato C2, platypus 4.25, Sig M17, Walther PDP Pro. Occasionally USPSA where I’ll use Platypus 5” that was done over by Skips Gunz, Sig P320 X5 Legion. I just received my Masterpiece Arms DS9 Hybrid, waiting on my Jacob Grey Black and off of your review I called Mr. Kenny and ordered an all stainless Kustom Workz Vulcan. So I’d say my budget is in the negatives for the foreseeable future! I’ve recently started working part time at a gun shop with a range, customers love to talk about their guns and have you shoot them. It’s been fun handling firearms that I couldn’t ever justify buying, Atlas, Nighthawk and Infinity. I’m not good enough to feel the difference between them.

@@DDEVITIS You’ve got a great collection going brother! The DS9 is a fantastic 2011 for competitive shooting but you can also run Vulcan as well. Let me know what you think once you get your Vulcan in. That gun is so so smooth. I’m waiting on my Hayes to come in so I’m in the same boat 😆 The boss lady said no guns for you.

I wish it was steel frame and no MIM parts as well. JG was going for a carry option so they didn't want to go with steel because of the added weight so I was told. I've been impressed so far with the hard anodized finish but still love some DLC. I've already upgraded my gun with a new EGW Hammer, sear and a Extreme Engineering disco. I also swapped out the thumb safeties. to the Atlas. Upgrades totaled $269 with me doing the work.

@ nice brother! I was looking at one at my gun shop and I would’ve changed those out too. Can’t go wrong with Atlas safety’s. Please show it again so we can see it with them.

@@RetARMYjohn Yeah not a fan of the thumb safeties but hopefully they address the issue in future revisions. I'm dropping off some parts today for coating and my JG hammer is in that batch to keep with the all Black theme. I'll do a video showing everything once I get the parts back. I had to use a different disco because the EGW disco head was too big for the notch in the disconnector rail. I didn't want to use the 1911 disco scrapper tool to permanently modify the gun so I opted to use a Extreme disco and it worked like a charm. Should be a fun video.

Man I appreciate the kind words. I'm trying to do things differently than other reviewers. I switched to a grading scale to dive deep into the build and to assess each area so folks know more than just the tech specs. I also tear my guns apart in a separate video to show each component part and wear patterns. Thanks for watching.

I also watched your tear down and review of the build...amazing! Keep up the great videos and again I do love the grading system it is a much better way of reviewing a pistol with a concrete number/grade being given instead of "you should buy this thing" that most other reviews of firearms give.

Nah, brother. It's all good, I don't get into the money stuff because I lived paycheck to paycheck when I was in the military. @@LivinLifeontheR5 Yepper, it’s a well built gun with a ton of configuration options at a great price point. They also offer a military discount which always a privilege to have. They’re on a the light side but are great shooters. It will kick you in the hand a little more because of the weight but is a blast to shoot for sure .You’re spoiled with your XC 😂 but the platty is definitely worth the value against its peers.

@@JaimeBudreaux First, thank you for the sub. I always ask people two questions before I proceed because these 2011s are expensive. What’s your budget and what’s your use case? I really love my JG Black edition. It shoot great and is well built but does have a couple little things I’d change to make it more comfortable for me.

@ $3500 is my budget at the moment but with each passing month its grows alittle. 2011s cost so much and I’ve been so hesitant on pulling the trigger (pun intended). To be 100% honest it’ll probably be a safe queen and used when I go to a range 1time a month +\-

@ Here’s my recommendations. All these guns are fantastic shooters and extremely well built and they’re all metal guns. I don’t like plastic grips on my 2011s. I have reviews on the first two and have shot the MPA a lot. My buddy has one and shoot it quite a bit. 1)KustomWorx Vulcan - My favorite 2011 I own. $3200 base model. Can custom order to your liking with 8 week build time. 2) Vudoo Priest $3200 base. Hard to find in stock. If you order one it’s 10 month lead time 3) MPA DS9 $3K readily available

I’m keeping the format simple with most of my focus being on build quality vs shooting performance. I do this because of how expensive these guns are and want to inform folks on how much energy and time goes into these builds. I also do this because I find most YT reviewers just give the cliff notes and generalize their opinions about a gun and I simply want more information. I really enjoy helping others and learning new things as apart of this process as well. So it’s win/win because I love this platform! Thank you once again.

I think your content is refreshing and very informative. I watch a lot of Guntuber’s and really enjoy seeing and hearing different outlooks, from run and gun to breakdown and specs. Everyone has a story or knowledge that we can learn from and you’re doing a great job sharing your knowledge with us.

@@LivinLifeontheR5 I love all aspects of it as well and love chatting about guns. I'm working hard on my shooting skills for speed/accuracy here lately because I see my skills are are lacking compared to the competition shooters. My biggest issue is there's no USPSA events in my local area so I can't really see I stack up but I've watched enough guys shoot to know I'm above average. However, I keep pushing myself to go faster and focus on my fundamentals to keep getting better. As far as the YT channel goes, I'm trying to do things differently than other folks in a couple ways. 1) I don't do this for money and will say prices and trigger pulls weights because I don't need money from doing YT. I won't be able to bring as many reviews because of this but what I do review will be very informative. 2) I typically do a 3 video review format: First impressions, the review itself, and then I break the gun all the way down and step through each component part. 3) I grade each sample on its own merits and report the news. This way folks can pick out certain areas for their use case when thinking of buying a 2011. 4) I'm no expert and will admit when I'm wrong. My wife loves this about me 😁 I will also acknowledge when my opinions change as a result of new information or an experience. Once again just trying to be me as the kids say...lol

@@jairoquevedo5206 I was at first as well but I spent a lot of time learning the platform. I promise it’s not too terribly difficult. Just take your time and ensure the parts a seated correctly and you’ll be fine.

@claymac2011 kovert ported comes out a few hundred less than the hex! But the hex looks amazing too. The next iteration out of kovert will feature a rose gold barrel. Their twc Kovert also has the twc9 Black redesigned trigger guard
