First Drone Flights by a Female Solo Traveler
I’m a happily married mom of 2 who occasionally travels solo. This video is a compilation of my first-ever drone flights over the last 3 days in central Oregon. I visited lakes, forests, waterfalls, mountains, lava fields, and even saw a bear!

2015 Subaru Forester Car Camping Platform Build | Beginner Builder!
Просмотров 32 тыс.2 года назад
I decided to build a car camping platform as a surprise for my husband's birthday despite having never built anything with wood before! Here's how it went! I’ve had lots of questions about the mattress pad. This is the one I purchased: www.amazon.com/dp/B08LZRRXXX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I’m very happy with the fit and moderately happy with the cushiness. I do bring a pillow from home!

This looks incredible! How did you attached the shelves onto the wall/board? Just into each other? I want to add a shelf but am concerned about it not being sturdy enough.

This build is brilliant. Being your first time at wood working you nailed it. One of the trickiest things of building a system like this is how to make it multifunctional. Having the section fold to be able to store when back seats needed is genius

I really like the wider shelf! Any tips for that installation? Is it sturdy? Did you place the 8" shelf on top of the narrower shelf or did you remove the original shelf first? Wonder job! It looks great!

Definitely! I can sit up but it’s very tight. It’s worth it to me to have room for my supplies and also be able to fit a second person sleeping, however you could do a single bed and side storage to save head room.

I used Brad nails and construction adhesive to put it up. I caulked all the seams and nail holes.

Totally tried this and failed! The brad nails did hardly anything to keep the boards on the wall in place even with adhesive. Too scared to think it would hold a 1x6 and a 1x8 with just glue and brad nails plus decor for the shelf. Coming up with a plan B for the shelf.

I’ve done this on my staircase, it’s all held with No nails adhesive only, no actual nails were used at all. I did mine 2 years ago now, it’s been re painted to freshen up recently due to it being a high traffic area and still remains firmly in place.

You used the wrong type of saw. That is a reciprocating saw mainly used for demolition. A jig saw is what you really needed.

Thanks for this! Used your design and it worked out great. One addition we found from a friend that I thought I'd mention: They made a little carve out in the back left corner, where the DC outlet is. Then they put a Jackery handheld power bank (battery) in that spot, and plugged it in.... then ran cables to charge phones from that up toward the front. The Jackery battery charged while you're driving and basically stayed at 100%. Then you can just have power for phones & laptops when you're snuggled up in bed. This was a great video and totally perfect measurements! Worked out great. THANK YOU!

Hi; love what you did and I’m trying to duplicate. My husband is worried about the 8” shelf and how it will be supported. Our span is 12’ 6.5”. Did you just brad nail the shelf to the earlier 1X4” shelf? Or did you secure it some other way to the wall? We decided to only do a 1X6” shelf for the whole span and just want to know how it is secured. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    • @YellowElevenPhoto
      @YellowElevenPhoto 11 месяцев назад

I used brad nails and construction adhesive to attach the larger shelf to the former smaller one. It’s still there holding strong, but as a complete beginner in this type of project, I can’t say to whether that is a recommended way of securing it. 😅 It’s just what I did and has worked so far!

It looks beautiful! This is exactly what I'm planning on doing in my bedroom in the coming weeks. I will wrap it all around the room and then add wild wallpaper at the very top. My room has crown molding so I won't bring the board and batten up to the ceiling. Great job! Use earthquake putty on those decorative items, unless you're absolutely, positively sure you don't live in an earthquake zone! I'd remove the rock in any event - it can kill. Other stuff will just give you bruises.

Words are difficult to express how amazing this looks! It unquestionably transforms the room. The additional, wider ledge extends over the bed just slightly enough to also provide an even cozier feel. If I may please make a friendly suggestion. Switch out the thin candle-stick table lamps for a pair with a significantly more drama and volume. For example a pair of wide and round bases with an ivory stone finish paired with beige linen shades. I'm an artist and industrial designer btw. You did a fantastic job!

    • @YellowElevenPhoto

It shifts a small amount because there is a little lip on the forester where the seats fold down, however it’s not enough to notice when you have a sleeping pad down. We may be trading in our forester for a newer car soon and I wouldn’t change the build at all if I did it again for the new car.
