    I see now, this guy is a salesman for dewalt, his classes and a bunch of other garb! I cut my whole metal roof with a circular saw with the blade reversed and it looks like it was cut with a laser! Don't believe this misinformation. The piece that he shows cut must have been cut with the blade in normal rotation!

    I've been cutting steel roof panels with a circular saw for Decades now. Of course you use long sleeves and eye protection (just like a welder would do) but it works fast and easy. They Make steel cutting blades MADE for a circular saw. I'm not sure that you know what you are talking about.

    I own specialty Makita metal circular saw. For cutting straight lines it beats a grinder. Fast, basically no sparks, cold steel after cutting, straight line and most of the shaving end up in the special container. You use eye and ear protection and a straight edge for proper use like a track saw.

    What is your recommendation to transition from a 12/12 roof to 6/12 porch roof? I’m using standing seam/hidden fastener 24 gauge pre-fab 16-inch wide metal sheets from Menards. I debated using flashing under/over the transition between the 12/12 to the 6/12. But now that I’m seeing your incredible techniques, I’m wondering if I can join the two “planes” so there is no gaps at all between the 12/12 plane and the 6/12 plane. Love the videos! Keep up the great work!! Thank you!!!

    Not quite accurate. - how about never cut it without a guide. Never without extraction. Only cut with a metal rated Circ Blade. And preferably with a metal rated circ saw (they exist from $80). And why that's important. And why you may be served by going undersized on the blade. You should give the answers.

    I’m guessing this is an old “short”? I would definitely expect you to be prepping your panels like those Russian roofers by now. In fact I’m pretty sure that you have been. You know the curved leg that sits like a half inch higher than the actual fold at the bottom of the drip cap and the female curve hammers over and covers the mail leg. ? So much nicer right? I wish I had the time and energy to go back to all the roofs I’ve done and cut every leg I hacked over my 34 years doing standing seam

    • @asm101
      @asm101 Месяц назад

      I do a mixture of both. The Russian way isn’t always feesable for the North American market. I use the Russian way on low slope

    If your boss makes you cut with a grinder then always plan to put the cut end UP ! It's not a perfect solution but the rusting will be slower and almost not at all . the best is with shears electric or manual !
