Scary ride up the Northwestern Pacific Railroad along the Eel River years after the railroad closed
Просмотров 2,5 млн11 месяцев назад
2007 footage of crazy washed out tracks, stunning river gorges, and a redwood trestle. The first part includes a short trip up the first section of track north of Ft Seward with my daughter. This was the easy part, a straight and safe section about 1 mile. The next day the footage continues where we left off. The young girl did not venture down the unsafer sections of track with us. This footag...

      @tomproctor.archive 10 дней назад

      @@pgk60 yeah, the first time I was in there and we drove over them I was in shock, but apparently they had done it a bunch of times. Those tracks are unbelievably strong, actually probably could’ve held a bus. If you think about it, the fact that they held there in the face of a landslide down the mountain is evidence of how strong they are.

    • @tomproctor.archive

      Seasonally the water starts out pretty decent in the spring depending on the rainfall that winter. As the summer goes along, though the river gets pretty depleted they take a lot of the water for the Russian river, so that has a big impact.

Unfortunately, the area shown was dark at the time as the train left Eureka at 7pm and you couldn't see anything by the time it reached that section of the Eel River.

It's too bad the time machine that I found in the Sierra Mountains on the border of California and Nevada is all out of that exotic fuel it needs to... to rip spacetime and open up a wormhole between my dates legs.
