Factorio: The Factory must shrink
The Sentient Queen Mother Hive and I have come to an agreement about my presence on the planet. The agreement stipulated absolute minimum levels of pollution. A normal factory is encouraged to grow, but this time, it wasn't possible. Safe to say this has been the hardest video for me to make. Also I show how loaders work. Native resolution 2560x1440p.

    Why did you limit yourself only to tier 1 modules?

    • @Jacob_graber
      @Jacob_graber 7 месяцев назад

      Efficiency module 1 reduces power consumption by 30%. So three would reduce it by 90%. But, energy consumption can never be reduced below 20% of total. So three tier one modules gives the maximum possible reduction capped at -80%. Additionally, making tier 2 modules uses processing units, plus more red circuits, and four whole tier 1 modules, which means a tier 2 module costs more than six times as much raw resources. However the tier 2 module only gives -40% energy reduction, so you need two.

    • @Guestz

      Producing Tier 2 efficiency modules for 12 machines would have required (2 modules * 12 machines * 5 blue circuits) 120 blue circuits + 120 red circuits + 96 Efficiency Module 1s (which will then require 480 green circuits and 480 red circuits). Would have been nice, but the payoff time would be too long.

    Very nice guide overall. I appreciate how you show the build screenshots when discussing your weapon loadouts. . . Persoanlly i would rather not over engineer the c4 strat being dropped from above the caretaker, especially when you have a good terrain example like in the sand biome in 5:40, as bad things can happen in a crowded tunnel, as you saw in 20:33. Also, a nice strat to avoid the shield generator phases is to set supply bases 'beneath sea level' ('sea level' being the bottom of the caretaker's base). This way all the shields that push you away will not touch you as they are too high to begin with. Lastly, I usually use Hyper Propellant OC build for this mission as it can 1 shot patrol bots and other rival neusence, as well as being really good on tentacles and the yellow healthbar phases of the caretaker. It was fairly disappointing to see none of the other dwarfs contributing in taking down the yellow healthbars with you. Dont forget that chucking 4 c4's per phase is quite costly in terms of supplies. Perhaps its better to chuck only half of your c4 total amount and use your secondary to finish it off.

    • @Guestz
      @Guestz Год назад

      Thank you for the comment. Fat Boy can also nuke Patrol Bots but IMO is rather inefficient. I got a comment on Reddit which stated using a waypoint marker to mark the roof of the cave can help with drilling even more precisely to the exact spot you want to be. In addition he stated that using the Sludge Pump can be be very effective at finishing off the last remaining bits of hit points.

    • @Guestz
      @Guestz Год назад

      Follow up reply. Hyperpropellant (for instance 21222 Hyperpropellant, or 21132, up to you) takes off about 80% of one shield element on Hazard 5 with 4 players. The Shard Defractor (I use 21213 Overdrive Booster) can also take off about 80% of a shield element if you use the Overdrive boost. It's preference on your part what you prefer: Fat Boy, Hyperpropellant, or Shard Defractor. The Breach Cutter *could* work but is more difficult to line up, and you need the range boost. C4 with 2122 can wipe the shields out entirely with Hazard 5 4 players.

    This is a surprisingly well made video, surprised from the aspect that it doesn't have many views. I think Athena's potentially infinite ammo is flawed, the reason being that you can make anything look good with infinite ammo, and thus what's "best" isn't always obvious.

    • @Guestz
      @Guestz Год назад

      Thank you for the comment. I don't see much of a problem with the infinite ammo concept. It only works in very specific places and you have to spend a lot of work and effort to work up to it. There was a reason I did this 999 stacks gunplay in EOS' playground -- it is better than the Sentinel fight by far. It does not work very well in mobbing, where you struggle to hit 400 stacks of Maelstrom, and by the time you do, most of the enemies are dead anyways. Shotgun ammo is always at a premium, and a number of times I have ran out of it (this includes BL2).

    • @Archive385
      @Archive385 Год назад

      Pick up a white rarity gun and shoot it, since you have infinite ammo you never have to worry about the dmg being low. This means your decision as to whether a gun is good is based purely on how fast you kill Shadow TP, and yet there are plenty of guns that are great for mobbing, but horrible for bossing. Of course it's important to showcase the full potential, that's not what I meant, sorry for not being clear enough. I've only struggled with shotgun ammo in TPS. If I need shotgun ammo in BL2 it's usually because I am raiding and I screwed something up (e.g. Terramorphous tentacles drop tons of ammo, but I forgot to go and grab some), but most of my raiding methods don't really incorporate shotguns except on specific bosses AND specific characters, or the classic I forgot to buy ammo at the start of a map. The latter frequently happens if I have save quitted and then returning to the game the next day or another point in the future.

      No kidding. I can't believe they kept such an abysmal level up skill. I thought for sure they would either remove it or adjust it to like +10 so that it would be somewhat impactful. Either way, horrible skill. Your grid shouldn't be getting hit very often in the first place.

    • @Guestz
      @Guestz Год назад

      There is actually a reasonable reason for it. If you look at the saveData.lua files with something like Notepad++/TextWrangler/whatever programmer-oriented text editor you use on Linux, the skill numbers are important. If people have pre-update saveData.lua files, and the bonuses on the pilot changes, that could be concerning. That said I do not disagree with the uselessness of grid defense. However look at the bright side: instead of 25% chance of rolling grid defense, you have 7.142857% :)
