    • @TrinityWild

      You would need a bow press. You have to get the right one that’s narrow enough for those limbs. I have an adapter that that allows me to get these short axle to axle crossbows pressed. You have to be careful how you press those limbs, you can damage them very easily.

      That’s awesome. I’ll make a suggestion to use a heavier bolt than the one that comes with that crossbow. And even a 125 broadhead, that helps dissipate some of the power that’s transferred into those limbs. It will last a lot longer that way. $124 is a smokin deal BTW. 👍

      @@TrinityWild when I got my first Excalibur crossbow in 2007 it came with deck and string wax. I waxed the string. I waxed the rail, never had any flat spots on the string. Flat spots on the string I think would indicate TOO MUCH down pressure of the string on the rail.

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild 19 дней назад

      @@charlesbeaver5665the difference is, the crossbow you are talking about shoots 300 FPS (maybe) and the string travels about 10 inches. These new ones are shooting up and over 400 FPS and the string is traveling sometimes as far as 16 inches. But you are right that part of the problem is the way this and your crossbow is built the string pushes down on the rail with a lot of pressure. High end rifle barrels do NOT burn out faster. Its all about cartridge selection. The worst barrel burning cartridges still allow for 1000 shots or so before accuracy starts dropping. Maybe you should have said magnum shooting rifles.

      He is 100% correct. Cartridge determines barrel wear. Some Cartridges absolutely eat throats, the term barrel burner is a common term for carts that eat up throats. Between load dev and getting used to the rifle my 26 nosler went about 800 rounds before it started opening up and that is with excellent barrel care. My 28 nosler I expect to go about the same to maybe slightly longer its only at 250rds on it plus the 40 or so load dev rds and everythjng looks great but we will see at around 500 how its looking. My 7saum is on its 3rd barrel from Proof Research it's first two barrels was Hart and both barrels went around 1000 rounds after load dev (100 rounds or so) before it was breaking over the half minute average at 100y. Then you have carts that aren't so hot like just the good ol 260 rem, I have a Hart barrel on mine that is at 1800 rds and it's still a honest to goodness .3 minute rifle at a 100y. Throat wear is starting to show signs but I have no doubt that it will print half minute or better for another 600rds. With good barrels that are good steel the barrel wear is all in the cartridge, I have rechambered barrels that had a ton of rounds on the rifling and they shot fantastic after a rechamber one was a 7mm mag that had like 1400rds on it and rechambered to a 7stw that barrel had 2200rds total on it when it was retired and still would shoot in the .5 minute range consistently that stw really was a Throat eater. The fastest I've ever had a barrel go is in a 7.62 warbird I built and that barrel was done for within 400rds. Was a solid half minute gun for about 300rds and by 400 it was shooting over 1 minute groups at a 100. I've never seen Throat wear occur that quickly in any rifle cal. That lazzaroni Cals was the definition of barrel burners but the speeds was addictive back 15 years ago. Prior to that rifle I didn't believe you could shoot a barrel out in less than 1000rds, I was very mistaken. With with today's super spicy rounds they are barrel burners with the best of them. 28 nosler is gonna be interesting to see how many rounds I get on that barrel. I'm expecting more like 900 but I could be wrong. I've seen a couple people that was complaining that they had groups opening up by 500rds and if that's the case I will not rebarrel it in 28 nosler.

  • @donwilson350

    That's ridiculous, so you're saying you're gonna spend a fortune on a crossbow, but don't shoot it. Cause it's not made to be shot. Why would you spin that kind of money on a crossbow? If you can't shoot it. In my opinion, if you can't shoot it like you would like to be able to shoot it. Why buy it

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild 21 день назад

      I didn’t say it wasn’t made to be shot. Shoot it all you want. What I’m trying get people to understand is that a crossbow is not for shooting 50 shots a day in the back yard. Get a bow! You can put 5000 shots on a set of strings and it’s still fine. The wear on a set of crossbow strings just won’t allow you to put 500 + shots thru them without being replaced. A new set of strings on this crossbow will run you $150 minimum. And I’m with you, I can buy a HECK of a rifle for 3 grand. Lol. Honestly, I’m with you. I ain’t spending $3500 on a toy I can’t play with as much as I want to.

      @MonkeyTime-kq1bs yes. Speed is very sexy to a lot of people like it was to me, but when I bought the 505, I discovered that speed is not as valuable as people think. More speed is more problem with tuning and durability of equipment, not to mention price of equipment. This is a big discussion that we can go into a rabbit hole but for the most part just know that from 370 to 400 fps and a 450 to 500 grain arrow is plenty of speed for an easy tuning a bit more fun when you get to practice way more n not having to worried on wearing down your strings. I just went crazy and bought the Tempoint TRX 515 with the Garmin Xero X1i. Wow! What an awesome crossbow! I got mine from Wyvern Creations in New Hampshire. They have fantastic package deals and really good customer service. The deal i got from them bow, scope, 9 extra bolts 3 of wich has lighted nocks plus the 3 you get with the bow from Tenpoint, a Tenpoint soft case, a pack of broadheads, and a high quality target I got for less from Wyvern Creations than if you order from Tenpoint. 4,999.99 from Wyvern Creations, and if you get the bow from Tenpoint which was over 5 thousand.

      Wow!! That is a heck of a deal. I just got the TRX 515 in so hopefully I can get out and do a review video on it this week. How do you like it so far?

      @@TrinityWild It's deadly accurate. Especially with the garmin xero scope. The design is well thought out, and the railess system seems to make the bolts fly truer. The reverse draw of the 515 sure zings those bolts out there with a lot of force. One thing I think they should have thought out a little better is how you store the crank handle for the accuracy Maxx. You have to mount in on them top or bottom picatinny rail with holder. If you get it you will see what I mean.

      Roger that. I shot one early this year that my rep brought by but I’ve just now got one that I can really go thru. The trigger was sick. I’m excited to see what it will do at distance.

    As of May 6th, they STILL HAVE NOT BEGAN WORKING ON THE CROSSBOWS PER THEIR OWN RECALL. That is per email reply from them as I questioned turnaround time. So almost 90 days now since the “STOP SHOOTING THE R500 IMMEDIATELY”, not 1 crossbow repaired. Horrible. But yet the day after the stop the shooting of your R500, these lovely folks roll out the new R50X. What a kick in the crotch to those of us who paid $3,000-$4,000+ already.

      WOW! That sux. I talked to my rep about a week ago and he had no idea what direction they planned on going with those repairs. It may not help but I’d be willing to say EVENTUALLY they will do you right. Their customer service has always been great but this R500 deal has been a debacle.

      @@TrinityWild you absolutely got that right. Let’s hope with the price we all paid, something is done and soon.

    How do these work with micro-diameter arrows with outserts? These often get stuck in targets.

      As long as you have the right size field point there should be no problem. Only issue issues I had was getting that broadhead out that I shot from point blank range. Lol. I shoot the Axis 4mm and the new 10x and I haven’t had any problems at all.

      Gray and silver? I kind of like that idea. I’ve got to get a crossbow string for a guy and I may do that just to see how I like it.
