This guy is awsome
We need to hear it running!!
Needs fluids and the startup tune! Almost!
Very satisfying
Good afternoon. Have you considered the option of installing the M48? VOG
We have not, customer wanted the T5, so thats what we did 👍🏼
Remember reading about those cars as kid practically. Blown away seeing carbs...and younger guys swear if you dont have efi and an ls youre in the stone age How the heck did you tune that monster or is it pretty much for prowling car shows fairgrounds etc?
very cool! Go Can Am!
Where’s the car!!!??
sublime video, thanks. nice to see a shop that will work with owner/ owner provided parts. nice to see a well prepared owner. this is the way it should be.
Can’t like this comment enough. Appreciate it 🙏🏼
Awesome
Thanks!
Really digging the build guys, keep up the great work!
Thanks a bunch!
0-60 in NOW
Definitely looks sweet!!!
Thanks man!
Start it up!!!!!!
Amazing car!!!
Zero safety in a modern world 🌍 Love it
So what I’m hearing is it’s getting nitrous?
Lol WILDkitty
But why does it have to be that way. There’s got to be a solution!!!
Perfect gearbox for a 240, relatively smooth shifting, can hold a fair amount of power if turbo charged, the next option would be a CD009 but those are more involved and expensive
Sweden: T5 means Turbo 5cylinder USA: T5 means 5 speed Transmission ✅
👍🏼
What happened to the husqy 250 build?
When we first started, our projects were more hobby builds with some of our own stuff. It quickly turned into a shop full of customer projects! Just no time to get around to finishing up personal builds.
eskiden s70 t5 16t 2.0 manuel 😅 evet 2.0 225 hp manuel t5 16t hpt 😅😅
All that work for what? You won't get any better gas mileage. All you 've done is increase the likelihood of more gremlins you'll have to haunt down when the system goes awry. And it will go awry. $2100 for system, not including installation. $3,000 down the drain. Stick with carb, save your hard earned money.
Bunch of hicks… if it ain’t murikan I’m just beside myself
Can you measure how thick the adapter plate is? I wanna make my own
Jaguars are built in Solihull,Castle Bromwich and Liverpool in England.
What was done to make it a restomod?
Upgraded/adapted to a new Borg Warner T5 transmission
Should’ve pressure washed that fuel tank before doing anything.
If you’re going racing Holley is way to go. For daily or weekend driver Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 far superior. Easier. Constant tweaking not needed like Sniper. Can be tuned quite extensively but not like Holley. Pick depending upon how much you want to mess with it and type of driving.
Nice work double redundancie
WOW!
Never gets old!!
One of the highlights of my life hanging out with Rick and Matthew Hay at Street Machine Nationals DuQuoin what an honor
Definitely a great time! Thanks Jeff!
The production and editing on this video is unreal, you deserve so many more subscribers its unreal, I cant wait to use this as a guide for my 240 transmission swap summer project
Appreciate the kind words! 👏🏼 glad we may be able to help!
The Jag engine is fantastic. Torque, smooth and reliable.
Please! It's 2024! No annoying music to mute!
Video was shot in 2022 lol
Interesting comments about misleading title. Being the owner of a 93 240 DL with M47 that has 375k on it I was excited to see a T5 trans swap. Perception and perspective are obviously wide in the Volvo world as T5 has many meanings within the community. Very well done video.
Appreciate it! Yeah you can never make everyone happy 😂
I owned many 240 with the M46 gearbox.one of them that I bought new have over 600,000 miles on it When used with the stock or slightly warmed up engine, that gearbox is just fine. for sure, the car is old with a lot of miles on it so the shift mechanism have took wear When the car was new, the gearbox feeled very tight so you compare a very used gearbox with a new one so the comparizon is a bit offsetted. Just replace the bushings at the base of the shifter and the cups recieving the shifter pivot ant you'll see a huge difference in the feeling of the m46 gearbox. The quality of the volvo gearbox is a step higher that the quality of the T5, just one point, on the M46 gearbox, the friction pads at the tip of the shift forks are made in bronze, on the T5, it is plastic and there is many other points like that. The weakness of the Volvo M46 gearbox is not the gearbox by itself but the bearings of the J type overdrive that need to be replaced at 250,000 miles intervals To me, the only reason to swap the M46 gearbpx to a T5 is to prepare the car for a huge power increase with a much bigger engine. in overall not so bad
Give me a call guys. Thanks
I remember seeing this car in street machine magazine, it's an Australian magazine. I absolutely loved this car and so did many readers.
It is a true work of art. I hope to see the car do another show car circuit! Its still impressive and innovative today!
Still the most amazing car ever built.
Truly incredible in person.
I built that model car way back in the day. Best use of a Pontiac j2000, ever!
haha love it! @@mr.mckinnon5680
Extremely well done!! Congrats!!
Thanks!!! Appreciate the kind words!
Would love to put a supercharger on my 1979 Ford Mustang with the 2.3-liter engine. It has no turbo on it and I don't want a turbo. I want something different, like Magnusson used to have way back when. Thoughts or suggestions?
Any problems with the Sniper off camera? I've seen other videos with people having problems with the sniper and having to return it to Holley for an exchange or they just end up putting a carburetor back on.
Customer has had no complaints so far! Only thing we struggled with the car was some funky wiring separate from the Sniper. I think the car could use a new main harness, but most of the time we need to operate within the customer budget.
I like the father and son banter. Cherish these times.
Thanks Pete! Its always fun to keep some of the videos more natural with the interactions!
Please take no offense to us Jaguar fanatics. The V12 engine was a fantastic racing motor for Jaguar in the 70's and 80's, totally underappreciated. The motor was also comprised mostly of GM parts too (tranny, water pump, etc.), so parts are still not that hard to find. However, one could certainly make the case for putting in an updated motor, as a good Jag mechanic can easily charge well over $250.00 an hour and earn every cent so it gets really, really expensive very quickly for the average car enthusiast. I always see these type of LS engine swaps as something like giving a runway model a double D boob job- somehow it just does not seem right.
Without the V-12, the car has $0 resale value. Cars were never made in India too. Yikes.
Well seeing as the car’s value was 800$ when they picked up the car to do this swap, and has been offered a substantial sum to sell it in its final state, I would argue the resale value has gone up tremendously. And man, if I knew the offense Jag guys would take by one hyperbolized comment, I would have thrown more in there 😂. At the end of the day the owner loves the car and there is one less Jag in the crusher, which is where this one was headed.
What torque setting do y’ale use for the little set screws that go over the brass pucks in the locknut?
Hi Martin, we do not use that style nut with the screws.
More Volvo content!
Send us something to build! 😂👍🏼
@@Retroformance my 242 is already extremely overbuilt. I can't afford another project 🤣
@Retroformance will you be interested in turbo in a n/a 245 wagon? I just don't think I can handle drilling a return line on the engine for turbo oil return line. thank you
one of my favourite cars of all time, just stunning!
Such a wild and beautiful design. Elegant with a lot of power!
Best cars ever made
Truly a beast of a design!
