West Coast IPA Brew Day
A good West Coast IPA is one of my favourite styles, and its been a while since i brewed one, so here we go. Using old 'skool' hops i went for resin, dank, pine and citrus from the Centennial, Citra, Columbus and some Nelson Sauvin in the dry hop to mix it up a little.
Getting close to most of my numbers was satisfying, but i did forget to put the Lactic Acid in the mash to bring the PH down a little...i was still within acceptable parameters though.
Happy for feedback and to answer questions...happy brewing beer and brew fans...

Hefeweizen brew day
Просмотров 3906 месяцев назад
Banana (Isoamyl acetate) and Clove (4-vinyl Guaiacol) are two of the flavour and aroma compounds that distinguish German Weissbier (or Hefeweizen) as a unique style. Yes, the yeast does a lot of the work, but the brewer can also bring skills to the mash, and fermentation profiles to dial in those esters and phenols to the desired level. I am sharing my latest Hefeweizen brew day video, where i ...

Eleszto Budapest - A craft beer bar with an industrial feel
Great video. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. I’ve got my first West Coast IPA fermenting now. I’ve just taken a gravity ready and I think it’s going to a banging beer lol
What’s the brand of electric mill you got there mate looking to up grade cheers thanks for sharing
Pity we cant taste it or smell it. Must have been that odd good weather day in Brigg for this video.
😁 yeah, it was a nice afternoon…
Thank you sir Iam going to Zurich in few days
Great, hope you have a good time.
@@Somethingaboutbeer I have amazing time, personality for me the International Bar was the best
Thanks for the video. Very interesting and informative. It’ll help me with balancing the flavour of my next brew 👍🍺
You’re welcome, glad you found it interesting. Good luck with your brewing 👍😁
Really helpful video. Just a quick question, what about using a plastic bucket type fermenter that cannot be pressurised with CO2 as it is not a closed system?
Thanks, appreciate the interaction. If your bucket has a tap its the same principle, you would have to crack the bucket lid open to enable the liquid to flow out, but that should not be a major problem with oxygen ingress.
Interesting stuff again I do similar with my fermzilla’s it definitely keeps the hoppiness for longer. Cheers 🍻👍
Indeed it does, thanks for your comment 👍
Is there any particular reason for using the bag with the brewzilla?
Thanks for the question. I crush my grain fine so the bag stops any small particulate getting through. I have had issues with blocked pumps when not using a bag.
👍👍🍻
Cheers 👍😁
That’s going to be a lovely beer for the very fast approaching winter evenings. Looks good cheers 👍🍻
Thanks, it’s tasting nice already 😁
@@Somethingaboutbeer looking forward to the tasting 👍🏼I’m back cataloguing watching home made brew kit at the moment. I definitely need a bigger wort chiller 👍🏼🍻
Thanks for connecting, sure, here you go. share.brewfather.app/2dXeNSZ53Z4yGq
Looks delicious! Do you have a link to the recipe on Brewfather?
Thanks, sure, here you go. share.brewfather.app/2dXeNSZ53Z4yGq
A great little video. Are you a Yorkshire water company user if so where can I find a water report to use please
Thanks, no I am Anglia water. You should be able to find it on their website. If not they should provide one if you contact them.
Congrats, you found one of the most notorious tourist traps in Prague. Next time when visiting Prague, prepare your journey better.
Sounds really good
Thanks, I enjoyed it 😁
Hi watched a few of your videos. Very good. I’m new to jerking I noticed you had six taps on your bar. Are all the kegs kept in a fridge? In my fridge I have 3 but want to have 4 can I leave one under pressure but not in the fridge so it’s ready when space for it. Thanks
Hi, thanks for connecting. Sorry for my late reply, real life gets in the way sometimes 😁. Yes, all mine are cooled. I built the kegerater below my taps. Using a single fridge, then built out from there with lots of insulation. I have room for 8 kegs in total. Yes, you can leave one out of your fridge, but be aware that depending on the beer style, the temp it gets up to and for how long could affect your beer. If you have a cool place you can store the keg under pressure that would be better.
Did you get to try Mikkeller?
Sorry for the delayed reply, real life gets in the way sometimes 😀. No I didn’t this time, next time though. I just missed the MBCC…better planning next time. Thanks for connecting.
@@Somethingaboutbeer I've googled it since, and sounds like they've sold out some what 😔

Looks awesome.😁
It was!
You not thought about the Boel iTap....does the same and minimal wastage...great piece of kit.
Thanks for your comment, yes i have seen those, they look good, but have had my set up for some time and works fine for me.
@@Somethingaboutbeer Fair do's mate; just thought I would mention it...its a very good piece of kit.
Do you have a drawing of the equipment you self made? Looks nice and want to make it myself.
Great videos 👍.Can i ask what connections you use to connect the Klarstein cooling coil to the garden hose?
Thanks, appreciate it. Yeah sure, it’s a compression fitting. The Klarstein coil is an odd size from memory, so I had to use PTFE tape to seal it completely. I then bought an adapter that would allow a standard garden hose fitting to be fitted. Can’t remember the size unfortunately, it was done a while back.
I can send you a close up picture as well if that would help?
If you could that would be great . . Thanks 👍
@@dooj21 I can’t send a picture from here, if you send me a Facebook message I can send there…👍
It's ok,i'm sorted now.Seen on another page a length of tubing 10mm id x 13mm od,one end slides over the coil and the other end fits inside the garden hose 😊.Thanks so much for your help and keep the videos coming 👍.
Great video!
Thanks
great video im new to all grain brewing thanks for the help . is this about £60 a brew or have i got something wrong
Thanks, glad it’s helpful. No, that cost sounds high, a typical 19ltr finished beer for me is £35 - £45 depending on the hops and amount i use. I buy my grain in bulk, use dry yeast and check out the special offers on Malt Miller, (and others) they often have some nice hops on sale.
Belgium is awesome, im heading back to Bavaria myself tho.
Nice, some great beer styles available in that area of Germany…enjoy.
Nice subbed
Thanks, appreciated.
Great review of a lovely looking beer, cheers :)
Thanks, appreciate it.
Awwww. Slemish is less than a mile from my house. Lacada are a great brewery up the north coast of Northern Ireland. Great video, cheers.
Thanks for watching, much appreciated. I have enjoyed the beers i had from Lacada.

love czech beer! I'm planning to open a bar with it!
Good luck 🤞
On my bucket list to get out to Czech and visit Budvar and Urquell. I have a side pour tap from an Urquell beer font but sadly it isn't a LUKR tap. I hope to add one of those this year to my brewery. Nice video, cheers mate. Stewy
Thanks, hope you get to visit soon…
Absolutely brilliant video. Very glad this popped up on my feed!
Thanks, appreciate it
sounds like a big beer. Cheers 😀🍻👍
8.3%, so not sessionable 😁
Great video! Your doing a good job. I like your ideas behind recipe design. I also have a brewzilla gen4, using a BIAB in the malt tube is a great idea, I'm gonna try it.
Thanks, appreciated 😁
Loved it all! Great tips and super set up- well done for setting up your channel
Thanks, much appreciated.
Great video love your set up subscribed cheers
Thanks, appreciated
Great video Simon - what water are you using, your local tap water or RO? 👍🏻
Thanks Rob. I use a mix or RO, and tap water de-chlorinated with campden. The ratio depends on what beer I brew. Usually for my IPA’s I used 33% tap and the rest RO. I have set up various relevant water profiles in Brewfather so I simply have to select what I need.
Gave a thumbs up but counter isn't incrementing😢
Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out.
Interesting start!
thanks
Great vid on hops .Cheers
