Let Me Wash Your Feet - Serving Others
The Church consistently passes by the homeless without lifting a finger. They seem to forget the parable of the Good Samaritan. There’s plenty of people in the church who are Good Samaritans, until they see a homeless person, then they’re blind. If Jesus came back and was walking the streets, would the church even recognize him? Or would they think he was just another homeless person? Would they wash his feet? Have they forgotten, when you serve the least of these, you are serving Jesus? Let’s pray that the church wakes up and starts serving those in dire need. That they start serving the homeless.
When you help the homeless, you’re helping Jesus. Help the Homeless!

Dear sir, My name is Meg. I'm a Christian missionary living in Taiwan. I grew up in poverty but the lord always provided. I came back to visit California hadn't been there in probably 20 years I couldn't believe the amount of homelessness we have. But if I traveled to visit friends and red States I saw that homelessness was more than before. I think the problem in solving homelessness is honestly the government is too involved. They put a lot of restrictions on Christian based organizations that want to help the homeless. All the money that's given to the states to solve homelessness it just seems like it goes nowhere except into the pockets of politicians. I used to work at a homeless shelter when I was in high school My church would go every Friday. I think homelessness can be solved but are politicians on a I would say Federal and local level just don't want to try to solve the problem. They want to waste money on foreign aid and they want to text Americans to death. It's quite sad to know that we can't help our own people. It's not the other countries don't have homelessness they do I think in some ways it's a lot less. I've always tried to help the homeless if I come across them. I think our country hasn't been functioning as a Christian Nation for a very long time and what you see is a result of godless people working in the government. It's not to say that there aren't Godly Christians in politics but not so many My neighbor is the one that God puts in front of my feet. A lot of my Christian friends are like this as well. I just want to say thank you for leaving out what Jesus talked about. I'm sorry I don't have any money to support you financially but I can't support you in prayer I'm a self-supported Christian missionary. Please know that there are many Taiwanese Christians that are also praying for America.

I grew up poor as a kid and when I used to help at the homeless shelter we all ate there on Fridays and we basically just took what was the healthiest. So if they made mashed potatoes we ate mashed potatoes. We grew up poor but we always had a pretty decent diet because my mom's family was Greek and Italian. @@meggrotte4760 yes I agree, you don’t need lots of money to eat healthy. I think years ago, soup kitchens used to be healthier, and so was the average diet. Mashed potatoes were real potatoes. It would be great to get back to eating healthy food

I live in my converted van. My last one was totaled and now I’m converting a new one. The most important thing for me is a good mattress and kitchen. I have made a farmhouse sink out of wood and epoxied it so it doesnt leak, hot and cold water on the back side of the cabinet facing the sliding door so if I use hot water I pop the door so there’s air. I have a cooktop and a 40 inch counter and under my bed a slide out 28x29 cutting board that also extends my bed by 26 inches. Under the bed I have an ice maker and espresso machine and a Camco wave 3 heater. It’s a dodge caravan. I’m 62 inches tall so it works. I work in healthcare and still can’t afford rent and people die and then you’re out of work again. So I NEED my van. I agree with you re food. The food banks give homeless with cars food the can’t cook and often times carbs that are empty. And so they have a cooktop? My biggest issue is I need to cook to keep my glucose down. I lost 40lbs and need to loose 20 more. So I can’t eat out or I’ll get fatter. I feel sad for homeless people who are worse off than me. I applaud you helping us out. All “rent” money is use for rent is going into my build and then I can relax and pay off other debt. People feel better when they eat healthy but they really need a place to cook.

I have been in the social service business, in one way or another, for over 30 years. I can honestly say that in my experiences, about 95% of homeless people are there by choice, not wanting to work or follow shelter rules, drugs or alcohol or mental health issues. VERY rarely is someone only homeless because they truly want to work and can't find a job. For those who can't afford it, stop drinking, smoking and doing drugs. This is a mental health and substance abuse issue. The issues of mental health and substance abuse need to be addressed, then the homeless issue would, by a large margin, not be an issue.

Being homeless destroys a person’s whole being. It destroys health, the body, mind and spirit. American needs to wake up to this travesty. The homeless need shelter. I have built tiny homes, converted vans, SUVs, and converted cargo trailers. I’m in the process of building prototypes of various shelters that are affordable and can be used by homeless people. What I found is there’s a lot of resistant and hurdles to anyone trying to help the homeless. The wealthiest organizations in the USA are churches, but they don’t seem to acknowledge or address the issue effectively. I’m asking why they can’t help solve the homeless crisis.

In the Florida town I live in, they are essentially doing nothing. And Florida just wrote a new law that practically makes being homeless illegal

Here is a crazy idea! Why don't we instead of sending $200B to Ukraine spend here in America on eradicating homelessness in our own country?

Interesting concept. It’s true that American has been involved all over the map by providing money and resources to other countries. And many counties still dislike us. Regarding Ukraine, most of the resources we have given them are military items including artillery, Abrams, etc. We are also sending obsolete equipment that our military was going to scrap. Not sure having military weapons in the hands of the homeless would be a good idea, but maybe it would. You are correct in that more money could help resolve the homeless crisis. But if you watch the video, “The Homeless Industrial Complex” you would see that massive amounts of money is being spent on the homeless situation, but the money never reaches the homeless. Big business, nonprofits, and the government simply waste most of it. Mismanagement, corruption, greed, lying incompetent politicians, are some of the issues that are propagating the homeless crisis. Thank you for your response. Hope the war in Ukraine is resolved. It’s a financial drain and a horrific cost in human life.

@Homelessinamericainc I agree with you, I hope we can bring peace to that part of the world, refocus our resources on problems here and deal with the inefficiencies you have mentioned.

Like it or not, America has a responsibility in the world. They have created it themselves ever since the end of WW2. Helping it's allies is a must. That being said, 10% of the 700 Billion dollars in the military budget per year could solve homelessness. Image $70 billion. Could build and fund a lot of homes.

@timothyletwin5911 your argument is flawed. Beside baseless claimes that they brought it unto themselves, you can't win this war in Ukraine when the other party has nuclear weapons. Secondly, did you see the level of corruption in Ukraine? And finally, prolonging this conflict by funding the most corrupt country in Europe will only bring more deaths to the Ukrainian people. Most wars end up at negotiation table. Time to end this bloody conflict and focus our money on internal problems. We have $34 trillion to deal with, before this mounting national debt crushes our economy.

Are you serious? They don't need a philosophy lesson. We are talking reality. Give them a home first then Jesus if that's what they want.

@@timothyletwin5911 I agree a home is a necessity. Its literally a life saver. Homeless individuals are aging and dying prematurely of disease because they simply don’t have shelter.

Thank you for your reply. It would be nice if everyone found a spiritual connection. What I have found is that many homeless are believers and have given their lives to Jesus. In fact, many are more devoted than some of the Christians warming the chairs inside of churches. But even though they are believers, they are still hungry and living on the street. I made a video regarding Jesus and homelessness that I will be posting soon. All over the world Christians are suffering. In the Bible it explains that in the last days Christians will be persecuted and even put to death.

A home should be a right in the constitution. As well as medical care.

@@timothyletwin5911 it would be hard to administer a right in the Constitution. But we definitely need some form of assistance. Government seems to waste money and not be effective in what they do when it comes to social programs. Social Security is a failure and could collapse once all the baby boomers retire. This is a difficult issue. I think the government could help but there’s also corruption. The government has spent enough to solve the homeless crisis, but the wasted the money. Hope they can start funding effective homeless programs. Everyone needs a home!
