    He sides with her because he knows how useful she is after saving the war rig, and that if she isn’t a praetorian then she would assuredly be locked up in the citadel as a slave. Just because a movie doesn’t beat you over the head with ham fisted scenes explaining everything doesn’t mean it’s not a good movie. It means you dont understand how to infer things from subtext and probably shouldn’t be a movie reviewer in the first place

Because they are an incomplete union and they know they are, which directly is in relation to their mutual breakup with patrick. They were never suppose to boot him from their relationship and all of their lives suffered from it!

    for me, the action is the juice... and anytime Al Pacino speaks on women's asses in Heat, it is one of the high water marks in human history... also, most folk assume the title refers to De Niro's theory on needing to leave everything the moment you spot the police; i believe its a reference to Ashley Judd legendary gangster performance--twice she runs her mouth v DeNrio/Kilmer to make her point then shuts up to prevent escalating the situation, then she swipes off Kilmer under intense police pressure while doing her best to protect her son... fax!!!
