I think they are like bunnies. Very smart and playful. My chinchilla's running in living room.I wach them all the time. Just don't let dem under the sofa or other weird places.They don't destroy things they are too happy to run. After playing like crazy they can try bite something so is best to have some wood sticks and treats. My go to cage, they now they gonna have sand bath.

Im thinking about getting my daughter one.... Shes 18, so she's not a child. She's had a couple Guinea pihs when she was younger so she's taken care of a small animal before. I actually have stage 4 kidney cancer and my daughter helps me alot at home so she's at home with me alot. Once we get moved into our new apartment I want to get her a small animal to have in her room... Her we room is her domain... Her sanctuary for normalcy and she has it very chill in her room... I just think she would benifit from having a small pet to connect with that she can hang out with. Never owned one before so trying to learn the basics and what's best before getting one and while I'm waiting to get into our new apartment. Obviously the large cage is a given... But just needing to learn the best diet, whats best to out in their cages, inrichment stuff... What they require to stay healthy, how they clean themselves (I think i saw they take sand bathes somewhere before maybe)... Just trying to learn all about them pretty much. She's 18 and able to handle stuff like that but I'll be buying everything prior to getting one so I need to know every thing to get. I really want to either find one that's been handled and is tame or a baby /young one because I definitely don't want a wild one!

I had originally bought metal connected grids but I need so many to make a large space and it’s hard to put away. I never thought of using like a dog playpen, they don’t try to bite it? I recently got my moms chinchilla male, and I worked with him everyday to warm up to me when we got him and i am still extremely amazed how after three years of not working with him, he is still so chill with me, but on the other hand I have another male chinchilla that I cant seem to get social, would it hurt either of them if they were to socialize? They are both males and their not fixed as far I know. A little advice would help a lot. Thank you!

If I were to get a Chinchilla i would free roam them w my free roaming 3 lb bunny. Everything is already bunny-proofed bc bunnies chew on EVERYTHING.

I just adopted a very happy social chinchilla with no idea how old he is so maybe I should just let him stay by himself, he seems happy already, why mess with it? He laid in my daughters arms while driving home and gave all my dogs kisses through the cage. 🤣

My chinchilla interacts with me but is not exactly happy about it. He only make his mating noise never any other noise unless he's sleeping. He comes to me for oats. And he likes my head and feet. Why is he obsessed with my FEET!?!?

I got the playpen, but my chin needs more room. If she is in it, her whole focus is escaping and man is she good at that. So, my bedroom is basically her's now. Definitely going to need to replace the baseboards, even though I'm right there to stop her, she is fast and has sharp lil teeth.

My chinchilla loves destroying anything she can sink her teeth in. Otherwise, all the same stuff you listed.

Hi, and I love your channel. I just got an awesome playpen for our chinchilla. When I wanted to put him in it, I just opened his cage door and picked him up very gently and carried him to his playpen. When he was done, I picked him up out of the playpen and placed him gently back into his cage. I hope he continues to let me do this for him. He enjoys the playpen.

I put a cooling stone on each level, in case she gets warm from zooming around.
