Day 16: 30 Day Challenge: Emotions
#30daychallenge #30daytalkingtoCameraChallenge
How do you react when you are overwhelmed? How do you feel about emotions? In this 30 day challenge, I will be testing talking to a video camera every day. In this way I hope to break myself of bad habits such as looking at the filmed content as it's being made, talking directly to the camera like it is a person, and trying to set my focus on basically getting comfortable with the idea of bringing something to the table. #30daychallenge, #30daytalkingtoCameraChallenge
Please check the links below to Raj Solo, my inspiration for this. He developed his own 30 day challenge rather than be focused on paying out for a high-cost piece of paper. Pleas...

Force Your Brain to Create Patterns

In my design work, I enjoy working with the brain and perception, and how that can stimulate the viewer. For instance, in the piece below, when you stare at the moving image, your brain begins to expect it. When looking after the effect is removed, if no motion exists- your brain will FORCE it to exist. I think that's kind of neat. If you'd like to see what I mean, start this movie. Stare at th...

you look so chill god bless you man
Thanks Sarper. It's awkward, but I'll do my best to improve
🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 BitMonky Approved - five banana rating.
"I'm one of those people who likes to look at themselves on camera while they do it." Unfortunate choice of phrasing.
Hahahahahaahah. Man that just makes me sound... So... Naughty!
Awesome! 😮🎉
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate you.
good challenge - its quite remarkable how fast skills improve when practising. Have fun ...
thank you so much. I appreciate the support!

OK, I’m not sure that this really relates to my video, but it’s probably the 300+ videos that I’ve gotten already under my belt
Overwhelm happens, that's for damned sure. Working with people and using them as a mirror helps. That lack of sleep worries me. I found that my clinical depression hinged >most< on my lack of sleep. I might have missed if there's a detail keeping you up, or if that's just part of your anxiety and ADHD? OR are you just a night owl by nature. You're right about doing a favor. It helps both people. Thanks for the shoutout! :) I just think you're doing something fun and it's great to see you at the start of it. Glad I checked in. Starting my day off right now.
Thank you Chris! Typically I sleep 4-4.5 hours a day, with an occasional snooze from 7-8 if away from the office. Most mornings start at 5:45am and I do freelance work from 9p-2a or hit the gym from 9:45p-1a. It can be a real difficulty to keep schedules with other people and it can also be tough to say to someone: "I just can't today, I am really too tired". But , you have to be honest with people. Have a great day!
@@dockerydesigns you are absolutely right! If you communicate, then you can do a lot more. Good job on another video done! Keep it going
You said, "I know this is boring." What's more likely is "I worry this is boring." It's not. For someone who wants to watch and connect. The easiest way to connect with why you're in front of the camera is to remember who you hope to serve. I find that if you communicate with "one person" in your head, it feels easier. Talk into the camera as if you're talking to one person you care about and connect with that one person through the lens. Love the topic of the idols. I've been active on the web since 1998 when blogging was called journaling, had a RUclips channel since 2005 and a podcast starting then, too. Holy cats, tens of thousands of people come and go. I don't seek idols any more. I look for people like you who are up and coming.
Thank you Chris! I'll work on that!
I'm shy as all get out, which is funny given that I've been a professional speaker (amongst other things) since 2007. But at a family gathering? I could come and go and you'd never know I was there. I find that if I create some kind of premise, that's a good thing. On the mechanics of things: The challenge with the room you're in with the current mic setup is that it's a bit vast feeling and booming. Also, with the camera below you, it looks like you're looking down authoritatively, so you might get a stack of books or something to make it more eye level. The mic closer to you or a mic that has the ability to pick out ONLY you in a space might be helpful. Are you just running off the phone/laptop? If so, maybe a lav mic? Loss is hard. It takes decades sometimes to feel right with everything. Never let anyone try to rush grief. We all get to where we can shoulder it at different paces.
Thank you Chris, I'm going to make some adjustments. The problems I face are multi-fold: I like being a talking head, but it can be hard to feel a sense of connection there. TV seems close and personal, Movies and plays are large and exaggerated. Should I find myself more intimate or larger than life. Its a tough decision and take different requirements.
He's back! Woooooo! Scars are stories. It's part of it. Glad your surgery went well. Keep going, Tyler. It's great to see you getting more comfortable and reaching into the camera.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to encourage me. This has been super helpful, and I appreciate you
Nice to see you back on that horse man,
Thank you for being behind me!
Thank you Lance!
Hey Tyler! What can we do? You've gotta keep this going. We have to see how it goes for you. Ready? Even five minutes. How do we move you back into your challenge?
thanks, Chris, I have been recording some material, but I haven’t had a chance to post it, let’s get this finished!
Jumped from Day 1 to 9. You chopped your hair off! I did the same a few years back. Look at you! I love the progress so far. Subscribed to keep watching.
thanks again, Chris! How I look doesn’t change the way that I feel in my heart, hopefully it’s about setting benchmarks, reaching goals, and not being afraid. Granted, being online means that there’s a certain amount of accountability, but I think that’s OK. I appreciate your support.
How's the experiment going so far? I started at day one. :) What an exciting project!
thanks, Chris, had a small bump in the road, but hoping to upload missing content to get back on track. Oddly, it’s like flexing a muscle. At first, it’s not there, but if you do it more often, it starts to show, and that only makes it easier. Thanks for taking the time, hope it doesn’t let you down.
Good video, keep it up
thank you very much, I appreciate it.
Good video, keep it up
thank you for your support, seems like this 30 day challenges harder than I expected it to be, but I will triumph!
Amazing video, keep up the good work 👍
thank you, it’s a little something I put together for my students
Bro I get it completely I just started putting out videos and I tell you its hard to put yourself out there. My battle is against obesity, it's good to hear another deep thinker, talking about the things I care about.
I understand, and kudos to you for being able to push yourself. There is a very distinct feeling of trying to “create content“,“ being true to yourself“, and“ setting goals while meeting obligations“. Everyone wants you to serve multiple masters at once, thank you for your kind commentary, and go ahead and respond to this with a text link to your channel. I’m pulling for you, buddy.
@@dockerydesigns I didn't realize you had more videos until now so I will have to give them a watch. You're right about meeting obligations, I thought I was busy before I started making the videos! www.youtube.com/@jonversusmedia
keep it up man!
thank you for your support. It’s a tough journey, but it’s nice knowing that you’re behind me whether it’s just once or all the way through.
cooool
Thank you!
Thanks! Hope to see you some more on this journey :)
I think its great that you are trying to learn how to talk to the camera naturally. Its a skill that more people need. Keep it going!
Thanks Joe, it's weirder than I thought it would be. Thank you for the encouragement
Keep it up!
Thanks Joe! Trying to form some good habits and not just take the easy way out.
Excited to see where this series goes. Keep it up. Well done. And thumbs up on the haircut😎
Thank you, It really means a lot. I appreciate it. Mine is a deep and storied history of Hair-don'ts rather than Hair-dos.
Just a heads up, we can't see the screen at all, it's so blurry
Thank you. I"m hoping once I finish my 30 day challenge I can turn these into something people would like to watch.
Keep It up Dude.
Thank you Joe! This means a lot!
Keep going man!!
Thanks Bob, I will get better. I promise!
Good work. It's not easy to talk to the camera.
You know it's true. I'm told to imagine a teeny tiny person in there, but I just see the camera. I will triumph!
I support you as well
Thank you Joe! This means the world to me.
Cool!
Thank you for the shout-out Mike!
more power to you!
Thank you Chris! I appreciate your support!

Thank you Lance! I'll try to balance TV intimacy with Theatricality!

Thank you! It's awkward at first and your comments really help. Thank you!
nice project! very expiring
Funny! I like it.

Thank you so much!
Hey I was just wondering how you got verified if you see this please reply
By having over 300 videos
Promo-SM ☀️
Thank you for the Promo Smash!
Timestamps in the description if that's your thing. You can use the gear to speed the video up, but I consider watching the examples in real time. Glad to have you!
This video is a whole lot better than the other one in terms of sound. It is still a tiny bit distorted, but I think that might just be a problem with your mic. Unless you were to get a better mic, I doubt you could fix the issue with the audio distortions.
Thank you! I'll try to be better!
if you make any more videos in the future (or decide to remake this one), please get a better mic or turn your mic sensitivity up because it is very hard to hear. I had to turn my computer's vollume up to 100 (which is max volume) and on other videos, I usually can't put it past 30 without blasting my eardrums to kingdom come. for anyone who may be hard of hearing, there is no way to turn it up louder in order to hear better because the vollume is already at it's max. That aside, this video is a wonderfully helpful introduction to the course and I can't wait to see what the semester brings.
Ok, Replaced that video. We'll see how it works!
Thanks man!
You got it buddy!
Awesome! Looking forward to more uploads. I recommend checking out smzeus . c o m. I used it to promote my social media, you could use it to promote your videos.
This video was very helpful. I went back and adjusted some things on my spreads!
Thanks buddy, I wish you all the best!
how can I get verified with 10 subs?
I understand your concerns. First, get 10 subs, then have that verified. If this is a set of sandwhiches, I suggest a receipt. Not just for tax purposes. If these are subscribers, get gud, get some, and then ask a friend to visit your site. They will verify what your screen shows, but I suggest a screen shot. This will verify for you what you have, but you can print that screenshot, tape it to the ceiling over your bed, and receive concrete verification each night, morning, and possibly at naptime. If these are water-based subs, I suggest maneuvers within US Coastal waters. While sighting is indeed a verification, you can also hear chatter over the radio, and also feel the verified impact of helicopter-dropped torpedos. Good luck!
