My $100,000 Cigar: How a Dream Smoke Turned into a Nightmare
There are a lot of elite and 'un-gettable' blends out there. This is the story of one of them. This cigar represents one of the biggest lessons I have learned during my time in business. I've had some rough experiences, but this one might just take the cake. Here's the story behind my $100,000 cigar, and how it turned into one of the worst nightmares I've ever experienced.

How Cigars Became My Path To A Longer Life!

Certainly, nobody is arguing that cigars are good for anyone's health. They're not. Yet, I have spent nearly a decade working in the cigar industry, and I'm really glad that I have, because I believe I have gained access to one of the greatest lifespan increasing tools I've encountered anywhere before. And that great tool is - old timers. Cigar lounges are frequently filled with the kind of guy...
Fight Night Breakdown: Commentated by Filthy Viking & The Wrench [FULL FIGHT]

Get the full fight and commendation from myself and my wife, The Wrench. Last weekend, I competed in the Old School Boxing Showdown 2024. I went into a bout that I was sure I was going to lose. With a dislocated rib, the best I could do was work to remember my training, and try not to get hit in the chest. In the end, we went to the score cards and it was a split decision. But did these judges ...
Against All Odds: How To Win With Losing Mindset

Have you ever gone into a new endeavor feeling certain that it wasn't going to work out in your favor? Asking for a raise, starting a new business, getting that girl's phone number, stepping into a competition? That's exactly where I was last night. I got a bout for a USA Boxing match. The fight was well matched. Just one problem - about a week ago, I got hit in the chest during sparring and di...

I know there's an idea floating around in your mind. There's something you've been wanting to do. Maybe it's a new business, a RUclips channel, a social experiment... hell, maybe you want to learn magic or something like that. And, while I focus much of my time on creating the best damn cigar content online, my work has put me into conversations with people who want to be where I am - on the pa...
Stepping Into the Ring: Facing the Fight I Missed as a Kid

This week, more than a few people in the CDN were surprised to see that I am pretty seriously into boxing. It's something I'm certainly not shy talking about, but more than that it's a big part of the discipline and focus that I has helped me be successful in creating content for the Cigars Daily RUclips Channel, and subsequently the largest online community of aficionados. So I thought I would...

I'm British, so I like tea and tobacco. YUM
I'm gonna go eat a steak and smoke a cigar now
If i was able to get my hands on the symbol guitar that Prince played, I'd fall over for it.
Hi from Sweden! Love you're content, educational and fun! I have one question, do you feel that cigar smoking affects you're boxing performance or you're endurance?
It's pretty wild that your boss thought he had the authority to just invest operational funds into any risky venture he likes. He likely was just a general manager, and anything outside of day to day operations was outside of the scope of his employment.
Just the tip 😂😂
I say let people do what they want cigars seem healthier then cigarettes ive smoked cigars I find there smell actually quite pleasant cigarettes on the other hand smell gross and I would never touch them I hate the smell but a cigar every once in awhile I would be fine with but the lady saying the fda is heroes I find funny there the same people that approve drugs that can kill you look at some of the lawsuits on the do called good drugs they approve I think I would rather use my own brain and research
Great response Tim. Especially on the CDC study. 👍🏾 that said, I will now enjoy my premium cigar my father” the judge” no pun intended😊 and a cup of Folgers coffee, black, no sugar, no cream. I mean, after all, we all know the harmful affects of sugar so I will opt out on that. 🤷🏽♂️ until next time, enjoy, be safe, and keep the peace. ✌🏾
Guitar or moomoo by King Buzzo from the Melvins
Such a great story Tim.
Tim, would you be willing to do a video talking about your music past? I've heard you mention in a few videos you come from a music background. Do you still do music at all, in any capacity? Or did you give it up entirely? Reason I ask, is I have a music background. I have a BBA in music business. I've been working at a rehearsal studio for around 10 years. I have experience doing recording work, live sound work, backline work, stage hand work. I play(ed) instruments and sang in bands... and I turned 30 in January and realized I have no future here. Music doesnt pay well. I have no career. No real transferable skills. I'm sick of the late night and weekend jobs. My most recent band broke up a year ago, and I havent played music since. And I just feel completely lost, depressed, and dont know what direction to take my life in anymore. I started pipe smoking earlier this year, which lead to an interest in the culture of cigars, which is how I found your channel. And I'd just be really interested in hearing about your music past and your transition out of music.
The ultimate get for me would be one of Charles H Spurgeon’s Cigars.
Can’t believe I never seen this Chanel lol I love it!!! The 100k cigar preview in the humidor top shelf brought me here
the Jersey Babe Ruth wore when he called his shot
Please make the series about how you get into cigars Tim! 😃
I've love to smoke a vintage Cuban Daviddoff
UFOs/UAPs on the TV in the background. Quality background and great story.
You need a transparent display Box with lighting and a plaque that lists the price you paid. Turn it into a museum piece for the shop.
I have three 100,000 business cards. Same thing. Starting businesses is hard, but I have several other cards that made Up for It.

Hell diving and bike riding, hell yeah brother!
Energy cigar is the worst idea I've ever heard.
Ya know... maybe it is. But at the time it certainly sounded like a good idea! lol
For me, it would be one of the Padron 50th Anniversary cigars that came in the $5,000 humidor with a promise of a refill for $2,000.
Bro, I've had more than a couple of projects come out with 'refills coming soon'. Yeah, they don't always work out man!
@timhswanson7805 I only mentioned the refill to help identify the cigar. Padron has put out several cigars with similar sounding names with 50th in the name. Have you had one of these 50th Anniversary Padrons? How was it if you did?
She's right. Tim, you've been married long enough to know they are always right. Plus you don't want to be the first to die when skynet takes control, right?
your P¨s are hard man fix mic a bit plz of a sock lol :)
Tim watching UAP videos on the TV 👽🖖🏼
You know it!
I get to hear Jim's conversations when I go to the lounge at open. I am always intrigued by his knowledge and wisdom.
My “$100,000 “ cigar is a Gurkah in a glass tube. I bought it for my birthday in 2015, I was looking forward to smoking it but that day I had decided at midnight as soon as it turned into my birthdate “nah I’m not going to smoke this , I’m going to have a healthy approach to life and smoking is not healthy, I’m celebrating this birthday without a cigar.” So I go into work and that day we were robbed, I was shot 7x and a friend of mine was killed. To this day I still have that cigar sitting in the tube, probably will never smoke it, but ever since then I always think this could be the last cigar I ever smoke so I puff away and enjoy as many as I can. That cigar is priceless to me.
Wow what a story! Rip to your buddy. Yea I would say hold onto that thing lol
BRO... WTF! That's insane! You probably should make a video about that. That's an incredible story.
All I could say to this or to her , is thank God I don’t live next to her.
Can't think of what I would really want at this moment in time but many years ago and fellow business associate told me something I'll never forget. A education is expensive no matter how you get it.
Dude love stories like these, you should do this more often!
Will do man!
I’m curious, was your boss let go when he couldn’t recoup the 100k?
Dont ean to be that guy but it is part of your story. Would you ever tell about your side of the story with Mr.Brad? may he rest in peace.
Honestly, probably not. I have a lot of stories to tell about the cigar world. I'm sure that one is a story that plenty of people would love to hear my side of, but I didn't tell that story online when he was alive and I don't think I would tell now just because he's not. I hope that makes sense. Plus, I still have a lot of love and respect for his family.
@timhswanson7805 totally respect and understand that. Youre such a great guy man and i was just curious since i know many of us got into cigars through watching both of yall. Regardless im excited to hear the other stories you got, you have an interesting insight to the cigar world. God bless tim have a good day sir!
1) Great telling of a rough story 2) Very glad it wasn't your personal savings 3) I know more than a few (including myself) that have been on the wrong end of deals such as this 4) I'd enjoy having a pour / beverage and cigar with my dad. He went Home almost 20 years ago and it'd be nice to talk with him about life and perspective.
Thanks! I get exactly what you're saying. My dad is getting older, but still around. However, he adamantly refuses to smoke a cigar with me. lol. I would love an opportunity like that. Still appreciate the man and cherish the time we have together. I'm at the stage of life where I'm taking stock of how much time I have left with my family members around. Gotta stay thankful, and engaged.
Is this the restaurant manager from "Falling Down"? Lol
HA! that's a good one. I typically get called a white Lavar Ball. But I'm much more fond of gap references. Cheers.
@@timhswanson7805 haha meant it in good fun. Glad you took it that way. I really love your channel!
Great video love your content would be great to have you on the podcast!
Sounds fun man! Reach out to me at the CD HQ and we'll set it up.
@@timhswanson7805I’m based in the uk unfortunately but if you would like to do a virtual one I can sort that out :)
Incredible story, beautiful delivery.
Thanks man. Story telling is a big part of this vlog journey for me. I hope to get better and better at it.
A little over a year ago you put out a CD video about what's in your studio humidor, you mentioned the 100k cigar. I immediately scoured RUclips looking for a full video about, thinking that you wouldn't keep that story from your adoring fans. I was wrong and very disappointed when I couldn't find anything. So it is no understatement when I say, it made my whole week seeing this video pop up on my feed. Thanks so much for finally giving me closure. Great story, and looking forward to a series if you do in fact move ahead with it. (Edit: I sent this comment before the end of the video lol, ditto on the last 30 seconds)
Glad to finally come through Scott! I'll work to keep some more stories coming. Cheers. I've got more than a few good ones in the bag.
I dont think your mic is on
It is. The mic is what picked up the peaks in my P's and T's... gotta work on the audio for these though. Gonna keep making them better and better.
@timhswanson7805 it's sounds like laptop audio.
Just get you a pop filter. It will take care of the "plosives". Place it a couple of inches away from mic.
is this the Double Shot Energy Cigar Toro?
Bro, you called it! That's the one.
Tim, that knowledge is priceless. Sometimes extremely painful. The bigger the pain, generally the bigger the lesson. Wild story man. Thanks for sharing!
For sure man! glad I didn't learn that lesson on my own dime! lol, I've made some expensive mistakes in my own business.. but none that costly.
No joke. There is a certain level of risk to different business decisions. I wouldn’t have wanted to hear that conversation when he was playing with someone else's money. Haha
Had the pleasure of being told the story of your cigar journey when visiting the shop from Australia in 2023. Definitely the highlight of my trip!
ps i think it was that Winston Churchill is j fox the oldest cigar store in the world
ooo, good to hear! Thanks for looking out.
davidoff cubans
Any pre embargo cigars with Cuba leaf, creamo or any of those 5 cent cigars
Put a Gurkha band on it, name it Maharaja's divine flute, put an MSRP of $200,000 and sell it at 50% off.
LMAO!
No I would not
As a welder of many years, I'd like a 3" cube of tungsten metal lol... (it's very dense and seems naturally heavy)... Its not "that" expensive either... just expensive for something with no purpose other than "I'd like it 🤷"....
Tim! I’m so glad that the $100000 was not from your own pocket. For me the ultimate collectible would be a bottle of Bushmills that was bottled in my birth year.
Me too! And that would be a very cool collectible. I hope one pops up for you someday Kevin!
