Green Machine 4x4
Добавлен 14 апр 2015
Welcome to the Green Machine 4x4 Bronco RUclips Channel!
I aim to keep the install videos I create as short as possible without unnecessary dialogue. Whenever doing an install myself I find a lot of RUclipsrs making very long videos that I am always having to search through to find an area I might be stuck on. This channel should provide you with simple, quick overviews of the bigger installations that I do on my Bronco.
Hope you enjoy the channel!

Bronco Hardtop Roof Removal Using Winch
Oh snap. I didn't realize the RTR carrier can be run with just the new hinges if we wanted. Considering this over the IAG/JCR options but daaammmmn double the price.
Hey, get some collabs?
@@HeatherM-z7y would love to but just had a newborn and it's harder to get out on the trails lately. In this video Rogers & Henderson and BirdDogOffroad were with us on the trip. Will get some more videos up soon though.
Does this mount work when the Bronco hardtop is on?
@@caseyleach3682 yup no problems with it but the hi jack foot just needs to be driver side or it will bang against the glass
I like this one a lot, but the price is nearly $1000 more than the others that include the hinge replacement. Why did you ultimately go with this one? I want the RTR carrier and the RTR bumper, but 3500!
@@ericplatz6458 I went with the RTR to support a 37" spare and a high lift jack. The kit was $1,199.99, limiter $150, RTR accessory plate $150, high lift jack mount $260 all without tax etc. Ridiculously expensive but it is high quality and I still haven't seen one that looks as good. Im happy I went with it but it is real pricey. Went with the ADD Rock Fighter bumper and that was insanely priced as well. The one positive is I don't need to do any more upgrades so overall satisfied with the RTR and glad I'm done spending for a while
Question, will the sasquatch wheels not fit with the stock shocks or do I need to get the sasquatch shocks as well. I am just concerned about the gap between the tire and the fender flare without the sasquatch shocks.
@@griffin4173 good question and I'm not 100% sure but at minimum youd need to take off the crash bars to fit the 35s without rubbing. If there is rubbing when steering locked in full, then I would think maybe just a 1" level might work on the front shocks. But I'm not 100% on that. Crash bars out for sure though
@@greenmachine4x4 thank you, how much were the Sasquatch shocks btw?
@@griffin4173 I traded my stock hood for the shocks. But I think when I did trade for them they were going for around $500. Check bronco6g forums, craigslist, FB marketplace

I read alot of hate on here from others. Just want to say great job doing this from your garage. You gained the look you were looking for.
@@Josebarbosa-cu1jx appreciate that! And I don't care about the hate. Just trying to help people out
Likewise I try things others wouldn't and share that knowledge. Keep it up.
Looking good! My dad just put 74weld portals on his bronco and 37s. Hoping to get 37's on my gladiator and hitting the Rubicon with him next year.
@@AustinH7 that's awesome! No portals on mine but did the 74 weld steering upgrade and jks max tire clearance kit to fit 37s. Also got regeared to 5.29 to help with my manual This was my second trip. The Rubicon is incredible
That was such a great trip, thank you for putting it together! I definitely could have done a better job getting you over a bit more driver on Gatekeeper, and then myself as well but I think we all improved as the trail continued.
@@brawnto hell ya man and I definitely agree on us all improving as we continued down the trail. Wish we would have got more handheld camera footage but difficult when we had to actually be the drivers 🤣 Let's do it in reverse next time 👊
Obviously a 2.3 engine. My 2.7 sounds totally different.
yup, both of ours are 2.3L. my 2021 I ordered a manual and they don't offer that in the 2.7. The grey one is the lady's and why I needed to take the muffler delete off after it annoyed her 😅
BEWARE! This isn’t legal in many areas! In some areas it’s $1000 fine or more, even if your from out of state!
@@texasgrillchef8581 good point and it's loud. I did not keep it on long but it was fun for a bit
@@greenmachine4x4 if it was allowed in my area, I would do it in a heart beat!
Hmmm the skid plate has bolts stick out... hit a rock the head of those bolts are gone.
Apologies for missing this. Were you able to get the bolts out and fix it? I really like this kit but took the Bronco on my second Rubicon trip and must have slammed the part of the plate that guards the intercooler brackets. The Ford bracket got smashed, the bolts stayed in and the winch plate slid out. When the winch line is in it tightens the plate good so its not a huge issue but I now need to look into fixing it.
Great content. Where is that offroad park?
@@bruh_nco thank you! The park is Carnagie in Tracy, CA area. It's mainly for dirt bikes with a very small OHV section. I just go there to test upgrades and bash around a little but it's not much
Were you able to install this kit without removing your front bumper? It looks like you did, but I can’t tell if you did or not.
Very sorry again for the delay - I totally missed this message but yes I did not need to remove the front bumper at all to complete the install.
Question. If the control arms are the same, why is it necessary to remove the bolts in the front suspension? Wouldn't it be plug and play?
@@Mudvaynefan1733 sorry for the late reply. The shock and shock bolts combined are longer than the control arm allows you to extend to get it out. You can have someone stand/jump on it while you jiggle the shock out as well but kinda scary on jack stands
Thanks dude! Saved me from having to drop my hidden winch which I have had to do a couple times now for other jobs
@@twopumperchump sorry for the late reply but glad the video helped!
Which perch collar? 1.5”?
Wow really sorry I missed this.. I used the Wild Horses 4x4 Perch Collar lift kit for the front and rears. The kit gives anywhere from 1" - 1.5" of front lift and 0.5" - 1.00" of rear lift but it works really well after the JKS kit install.
@@greenmachine4x4did you notice any ride quality changes after you added the collar lift? Also any rubbing at full flex when off-roading?
@@pisuicas21 nothing noticeable for ride quality difference and zero rubbing off road. I've done the Rubicon trail twice with this setup without issues
I was told that any straight pipe will sound the same. But your video shows otherwise. Which one you like better? Seems that RC was louder, I want to the flow master outlaw straight pipe
Thanks for the vid🤘
So are upper and lower arms still within spec when doing this or does a sad have different arms?
Is there a worse smelling lubricant or penetrant than pb blaster?
😂😂
burnt GL-5 gear oil
Easy on the bass track bro, makes it hard to listen at many points.
I know its been a while since you did this. I have an OBX non sasquasch. It is possible to just slap some 35s sas take offsand be fine with everyday driver. Not doing anything offroad for now
Apologies, but just saw this. At a minimum you will need to remove the crash bars but Im not sure if the fenders will rub on tires etc.. check bronco6g forums, someone out there has to have done this or at least tried it
Pretty sweet, I wish my Bronco had the V8 sounds of my first Mustang but I probably wouldn’t ever do this unless my stock muffler need3d to be replaced, then I’d def do it.
Agree if you don't need it replaced but I have to admit it's one of the more enjoyable upgrades to at least give me the feel of driving something more powerful 🤣
Question for you. I have same exhaust awe ofg and same bronco and engine , and I don't have any pop-up. Do you have crakle tune or downpipe? I want to know because I want pop-up lol
I don't have any tune but my bronco is a manual. I notice the crackle most when letting off the accelerator mainly between the 0-3rd gears
OK thanks
Man I really have been wanting this but I don’t want to cut off those pieces :/. Does this protect less than the skid plate?
I've had no issues, completed the Rubicon Trail with it. Have some video smacking it here ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxXnFQQTdr5U-_nyn2Haak2dG3vi0vSoFX?si=OduCyl6ewD7zhfaZ
My obx has V6 and 4.27 gear and locker. Thinking to put on sas take off struts. Great video thank you.
Thank you! And that's awesome. The install is smooth once you get the current struts out. Good luck with the install!
Great looking Bronco! Did you go straight to wrap after install? Any finish work to the as received panels to prep them for wrap? Thanks
Thank you! And yes, after the install was done I went back to the wrap shop who did the initial work.. I spent a bunch with them already and think that may have saved me a bit. $900 for the ADV parts
Thank you! @@greenmachine4x4
What color is that and didn’t you have the XPEL STEALTH Matte Green before ? - looks great
Thank you! Yes our 2021 bronco is shadow black wrapped in a matte green. This one was carbonized gray, xpel wrapped but since had to sell it. Replaced it with a boring daily driver 😂
@@greenmachine4x4 thanks - one more question if you don't mind. Are your rims the factory gloss? They look matte in the video. I'm looking at some Method matte's - thanks
@@brianhumphrey8494 no worries at all, happy to help. Didn't got notified about your first message and just saw it. But yes I bought the factory wild track rims/tires off of a bronco owner on bronco6g. They were glossy and a total pain to keep clean
Nice video, as far as the light on the spare tire did you have to get a taller one? Or is the stock one adjustable? Would love to know thanks!
You'll need a 3rd brake light extension. Plenty out there but this one works just fine www.roughcountry.com/product/bronco-brake-light-extension-51051
@@greenmachine4x4 thanks I appreciate it!
to be honest with you man, i'm running the sasquatch wheels on my non squatch bronco and the third brake light sits flush with the 35 inch tire, you'd be fine without an extension
@@jackschiaffino9764 great for others to know, I didn't even try and already had the extension from our other bronco
There are holes made specifically on the factory 3rd light for a 35" tire you don't need a kit you don't need any extra parts save your money. If you go 37" then buy an extension bracket.
Hey Bud watching your video for reference, did the valence fit without mods? I am having hard time with my install. Mine doesnt fit and i have to trim the fenders to make them fit. just wanted to make sure it wasnt just me. TYIA
Shoot can't remember if I trimmed the valance but it's possible. Definitely cut down the valance holder plastic pieces
Don't think I cut the valance at all, maybe trimmed an inner clip but nothing to the front. I did need to use a Dremel to really grind down/shave down that sharp pointed area of the fender peice to shape it right and get it to fit
@@greenmachine4x4 i appreciate your quick response!! shaving down the sharp pointed area is where i was struggling! but i stopped because i wasnt too sure if i was doing the correct step. thanks again!!!
does this just reduce the height of the shift lever or does this also allows for shorter strokes to get to the next gear?
It is supposed to but I personally don't think it made a significant difference with shorter throws. Would have preferred just upgrading to the weighted shift nob
Fun video sir! Looks like a great ride!
Thank you, definitely appreciate it and your ride looks awesome as well
Do you have the proper torque specs for all the bolts & control arms since it sounds like you need to loosen them to avoid removing axle nut?
Should have it here: www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/front-end-torque-specs.43635/
Without removing bumper. Perfect. This is my next mod!
Awesome. Hopefully this helped!
I have the same rear bumper. Which parking sensor retainers are those? I have the stock ones form the Wildtrak bumper and they point to the ground. I need the ones you have.. having a hard time finding them.
Mine came from the stock non-sas Badlands bumper. I think what you can do is go to Ford with a VIN from the same and order the sensors. Didn't realize WT would be different. The rear wasn't a plastic bumper.. more like thin tin can material lol
@@greenmachine4x4 will do thanks.
@@tubecruzan if you want my VIN I can post it here then delete it after you confirm you have it. Ford service always asks for a VIn when purchasing parts. It'll be the right one though. Lmk and I'll post it here
How long did it take to install the front and rear fender panels?
Appx. 2 full weekends to cut/drill and get them in place. I recently swapped in the OEM fenders temporarily to hit the Rubicon Trail and found it takes me ~6 hours to swap em in or out.
Can you reuse bottom bolts from the stock shocks? I purchased a Sasquatch set and they didn’t come with them.
The tricky part will be how you get the bolts out of the shocks you have. If you can do so without cutting or bending them then they could be reused otherwise you could order a cheap 1" level kit like rough country or zone and those come with new bolts. I prefer mine with a front level anyways to even the front height, but your preference Or you could go down to Ford and order new bolts from them
Ok, thanks for the reply. I’ll probably just end up ordering some new bolts.
@@Coloradonaturalist yeah ford can usually get them in a day or two turnaround if you go that route, they may even have some at your service shop
I tried this but forgot the loosen the lower control arm. I think I broke my cv axle.
I did that as well my first time adding a level because I took the axel out of the wheel housing and had trouble getting it back in. Painful mistake. In this video I don't do that, just loosen the control arm so I don't have to You sure you broke it?
not sure, I just forced everything back into place and put the OEM strut back in. I had problems reconnecting the upper control arm after I had inserted the new strut, I tried everything to get it to go back in. But it just felt like it wouldn't line up. It feels like the CV was pulled out or something because it wouldn't pivot up no matter what we did. I reversed everything I did and my brother just forced everything back with rachet straps. I'm just going to drive down to the autoshop on Monday and have them fix it. @@greenmachine4x4
When ordering my Bronco, I ordered the SAS package even though I knew I would be upgrading my struts, springs, control arms, wheels, and tires. Why did I pay 5k for the SAS option? The 4.7 front/rear gear ratios by itself would have cost over $5k as an aftermarket conversion, which alone made the SAS worth the price.
And that was a great decision for you, I'm not trying to persuade anyone to not make that decision. But for those that don't have the SAS package, this video applies. Fwiw I have 4.7 in my Badlands and am regearing to 5.29. But this outerbanks is a daily driver
Your neighbors must love you!!. U say u bought the parts second hand ,who and why would someone pay for the sasquatch package only to remove it?
Lol so far surprisingly no complaints. My neighbor across from me has a 4runner he's always working on as well :) Some people get the Sasquatch package just for the lockers and lower gearing then upgrade suspension, wheels and tires. Personally I love the stock billstiens for on and off road.
Looks like a hassle
For some. But it looks awesome and is sturdy as hell. My complaint would be the price but everything for these rigs is expensive
What gear ratio is on this? 4.7 comes with sas and does it make a huge difference?
Good point. Should have titled the video "Getting Sasquatch Looks On Non-Sas Bronco". Gearing is def lower on the outer Banks but my Badlands non-sas is 4.7 due to the manual config
What size sawzall blade did you use?
9" 14 TPI Milwaukee Metal cutting blades
Should mention I went through a few of them so buy a 5 pack
I used a diablo bi-metal blade and was able to get through both with just 1 blade, also did it with a 6" but yeah 9" would give a little more to work with, just tight with the hoses/lines@@greenmachine4x4

Thank you!
Love the rig! What’s your rim tire setup? And what wrap is that it looks awesome!

@@adampabst9579 sounds like an awesome setup! Would like to see it in that khaki green
@@greenmachine4x4 I don’t have the posting skills you do but I’ll see what I can do!
Great video. Did you need to set tire carrier off-center to get the accessory plate on? If not, then do you think the Jerry Can holder would fit?
Accessory plate installs easy without needing to move the tire carrier off center but the Jerry can mount will not fit without moving the tire to the left. However another bronco owner installed the RTR Jerry mount on his OEM spare tire carrier - if you don't have the RTR setup you can check out how to do that
You seem like you know what you’re doing but would you say it’s a simple task? And what do you use to cover the hood before you painted the scoop?
In comparison to the adv fender install, the hood was very easy. Just need another person to help you align the hood and tighten the bolts in place to make sure it's straight. I was pretty dumb. The grill in the hood scoop pops out pretty easily so I ended up taking it out, then painted it and used double sided 3m tape to put it back on.
