Notes: Due to the fact that the shield generator hardpoints cannot be destroyed on hard without lowering the shields of the craft first, this mission is impossible to complete on hard and had to be be done on medium. There is a hook in development that would allow alliance craft to bypass shields on hard, but it is not yet ready. As previously mentioned in the first mission of this battle, this...

This Space Battle was particularly bloody as I was assaulting a Tier 4 Station very early in the game and didn't bring enough Marauder Cruisers. Fighters are generally rather useless as the enemy always has a high number of Tartan Patrol Cruisers which evaporate fighters, and if you bring fighters in your fleet they will always start with it, meaning you will lose that supply immediately. You w...

I decided to solo the entire mission for more kills/points. Good luck on the next one. You're gonna need it.
Thanks :D
What a great game
One of the best
Poor homebase Mon Calamari Cruiser Liberty. However, White Base, Pillar of Autumn, or Normandy she ain't. Anti-shield surgical strikes being removed in Hard difficulty, starting from XWvsTF: Balance of Power, sure is as controversial as certain Company of Heroes 2 game mechanics like snowstorms, not being able to swim in Thief: Deadly Shadows, and boarding frigates in Homeworld 2. Really, would like to know what the Totally Games devs think about their improvements and "deprovements" from X-Wing to XW Alliance then and especially now.
I think they wanted their games to be harder starting with XvT which is why they removed the hardpoint targeting on hard I assume, which is wild since the games are already hard to begin with
Better than Discovery! 🖖🏾
Word
I used to be in the emperor's hammer all the way back in 2004!
It just celebrated it's 30th anniversary this past week :D
I've said this maybe a buncha times, and I'll say it again: expectations for this set of missions should have been like the gameplay experience of Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (and in some ways, Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike). The reality, however... If only RSII isn't a Nintendo console exclusive. It better get the Bayonetta 1 polished port treatment someday soon.
I think they could have made the battle of Endor two missions that were longer ones, but they broke it down into four which made it weird. You can see what they were going for with the cutscenes in between but for the climactic battle I would have liked to see it done differently.
I bought RS2 secondhand, and emulated it on pc.
Planet appears to be missing some textures lol
Yea lol some sort of issue rendering not sure what caused it
Next is Geonosis. What a fateful, though there are strange rumors of it having a second battle back in the Clone Wars... I don't think Legends had such a thing, it was in Republic hands for the rest of fhe conflict. Time for a first time raid. It's kind of nice to see the Rebel-allied (of all things) Geonosians hold their own against the Imperial occupiers. That's a far cry from them nearly becoming extinct in the Disney Alt-universe. If only they were more effective against Stormtroopers. They're sonic weapons are supposed to be anti-infantry, after all. 1:34: Ah, if only Y-Wings are available, but alas, space is still in Imperial hands. 2:17: By the Force. AT-AT!!! What a mess, the tow cables didn't seem to work. 4:48: ...Time to load an old save/go back to a past timeloop, if it were me. Failure is NEVER an option, even to the benevolent enough Rebel Alliance. Then again, it's an expendable raid to decrease Imperial production and defense, so... next raid. 6:24: Finally, they work! 11:45: From a disaster akin to the Bay of Pigs, to the current triumph akin to the Gulf War. The grateful Geonosians shall be pleased. Time for the space battle. Interesting, the Imperials have pre-Yavin Interdictors already. Not that the Rebels are planning to flee, anyway. 15:06: Good call, turning this moment to a cinematic mode. Those Broadsides never stood a chance. Nice save with Mon Mothma's Nebulon-B in the end.
Need her price reduction as much as possible. As for the tow cables, if the AT-AT doesn't move they seem to be able to survive the ability, which is quite unfortunate
Wait, this vid wasn't a two parter? Ay, caramba. Just noticed. It's been more than an in-game month since the campaign's start. Techs Blood Raven'd on Bothawui and Tatooine. Huh, T-47s and A-Wings are acquired too. 1:48: Yay, Mon Mothma and Bail Antilles are back. Lots of build-up there, plhs the droids scouting around other planets. Ah, Naboo sure is near to Tatooine and Geonosis, just like in the lore. Next stop, Ryloth before it got changed into a somewhat normal planet from The Clone Wars 2008 onwards. 10:32: There are still losses, but this space battle is an improvement from the last one. The sooner the Rebels get MC80s and active fighter-bomber support, the better. Very strange. The Twi'leks here are an independent bunch, shunning both Rebel and Imperial forces. Normally, they should be leaning slightly close to allegiances with the former. 12:43: Ah, another shield generator. Was wonder why you didn't use sensor pings back on Mon Calamari, though. 13:22: Should have been more careful with that Mauler. They bite slow, but the fire control of the T-47 Airspeeders sure is nice to see. 16:24: Yep, that's like a Supreme Commander UEF Mavor. Such is the problem of the T4-B, it trades the T2-B's shields for extra firepower.
Fighters are really hard to use when the enemy has so many Tartans, if you spawn in with them you're pretty much guaranteed to lose your initial group right off the start meaning you have to bring twice the number you would want to. I am hoping to do the unit video this weekend if I have the time, if not this week sometime
Contemporary space combat flight sim FreeSpace 2 did their own cliffhanger better. At least that felt like it has a neat sense of closure and acceptance in what shall come, without leaving too many nagging loose ends. Besides, there's something quite satisfying on not knowing what happened to Aken Bosch and the Iceni, plus whatever motives the dreaded Shivans had... just imagining the possibilities is worth more figurative gold than a possible anticlimactic resolution and rehashed explanations. Looking at you, Mass Effect 3.
I've never played any of the mass effect games
How are you getting the otana to fire like machine gun speed. Is this a mod or something with the latest upgrade patch?
There's an option you can toggle in flight to speed up the game to 4x normal speed, you can also slow it down to .25 normal speed, I think they call it time compression/dilation
You have no idea how much I've always wanted to blast Antan out of the sky ever since I first played this particular level. I've never gotten over how much we got screwed on seeing him get taken down.
I remember trying to make a mission where you did take him down.
Nothing ever happens with him, you can kill him in a couple missions but you fail. Don't think he is in the lore later either
@@Vanguard717 It sucks. They were planning on a sequel to this game that never got made, so I can only assume that his fate was unfortunately part of that before it got cancelled.
I would love to see any type of game similar to this made in this era, they could make something incredible. TFTC and XWVM are fan made projects and look how good they are, imagine what a good developer could do
@@Vanguard717 I've always been nostalgic for these games. I grew up with these games. X-Wing, TIE Fighter, those were my childhood. Even XWA for all its faults is a good memory to me.
I can't get over the typo in the briefing...
Yea there's a couple, hopefully they can be edited out in the future
Love it all! EH_OBS_Obiwan here, And man, are those sounds nostalgic! Impressive flying! *S*
Many thanks!
Next up,the very helpful planet Mon Calamari//Calamari/Mon Cala/Dac... yes, it has many names, just take your pick. Oh, yeah, the Marauder Corvette's a Cruiser in this game for balancing. Foolhardy, the Corellian Corvettes fighting on the front. 4:34: Sundered Heart's down! 5:16: Mon Mothma better have gotten in an escape pod... Such is the problem of the Assault Frigate, they aren't fast movers despite their firepower. 10:00: That was an honest fluke. 'Tis a good thing losing the hero units, especially Mothma, isn't an instant game over a la Star Wars: Rebellion. 11:16: Guess they're ready to fight and die against the Empire. The best one can hope for is that they won't become the enemies of tomorrow, like some mujahideen. 12:58: The Empire's got their own tanks. Leastways, they aren't the Sabers. Shield generators. Alas, they aren't easily taken down, unlike in titles like Supreme Commander. Hence, occasional sabotage ops. 17:17: There, it's down. Responsive bombing runs would have sufficed immediately afterwards, to ease tensions. 19:02: Finally, liberation. The Empire's getting real good at defending the worlds they've taken over. Imagine their efforts on defending homeworlds, like Coruscant.
I never did play star wars rebellion but I do own it, might have to check it out sometime
@Vanguard717 Feel free to try it and share your thoughts on it. Maybe same goes for Galactic Battleground if that too is available.
Will do, I'll add them to the backlog
Time for the -filler- downtime missions. Nice, the T4-B is now available. First off, Nal Hutta, a home planet of the Hutts. Sure is strange, seeing Rebel flown Marauder Corvettes, after seeing them be enemies in X-Wing Alliance. 1:56: Marauder's down, I suppose. Perhaps the space battle at Nal Hutta needed X- and Y-Wing support. 3:47: What a dump. Even Coruscant is better... when's Endor gonna be in Rebel hands? Yep, the local Hutts themselves are surprisingly good and fast enough soldiers. 6:21: Kriff, artillery unit down. 7:49: Victory, but it sure doesn't feel as satisfying. Oh, well, at least this ain't another Jabiim. Next up is Shola, an original planet for this game. Wonder who once lived there, the Kwa? Gree? Spawn of the Bedlam Spirits? 12:07: That's the problem about Shola. Being a burned planet, it's hostile to organic units. Unfortunately, one needs organic units to capture planet positions at most. 12:52: Good. 13:06: Nevermind. 14:12: Uh oh. 14:36: Oh, dear. 16:56: Here's the good thing about this game: if all main enemy buildings are destroyed, but there are still stragglers, then the entire map reveals itself for convenience.
I don't remember when/if I take Endor honestly I'd have to go look
@Vanguard717 Oh, don't worry, it was just a figurative question leaning on why Endor's a planet worth living on, in spite of its anomalies.
Lush vegetation and cozy neighbors
Ah, dang, reupload, and past comment's gone... well, I guess I'll leave this one for the algorithm. But I'll try to nutshell: - Mon Calamari sure has a lot of good stuff for Blood Raven'ing. - Kuat liberated after a hard fought battle. Now, about its local population of Empire collaborateurs... - Enter Han Solo, and later, Chewbacca. - Kashyyyk will be liberated. Will it be a tough one? - TIE Maulers are real dangerous if they're allowed to overload close to groups. - Atzerri shall have to wait.
Yea youtube has been acting weird lately with videos and release times
Is there a CRV named Sean? 3:34: Sorry, allied missile. Since this is a TIE Fighter sim, there's no need to worry about a timer if one wants to take on FRG Rogelo, unlike in X-Wing. I forget. What happens if and when the Astin is downed by you?
An ISD shows up and launches 6 Tie Bombers and 6 Tie Interceptors that attack you
Deep space missions like this are interesting. Where were the pilots of the docked craft bunking? Their own ships, the containers, or the tugs? Where they also wearing spacesuits if one of the latter two? 4:31: No worries. Redundant system. Nice of this training sim having non-reinforcement Assault Gunboats backing you and the Perfect (what Imperial professional even names their ship like that?) up later on.
I think only the A-Wings actually had pilots in them and that the tugs were ferrying the pilots to the other craft which doesn't actually make sense since tugs can only hold one person.
1,996 in-game tally. Sounds sort of poetic in chronological terms. 6:15: Wish Maarek Stele really got this rank in proper Legends canon, and also wish the Medals still got some movable interactivity, like the Medal of Progress back when it was first awarded.
One kill too many
This mission could have been better. An allied Rebel pilot named Keyan Farlander should have participated, while there should have been reports of a Rebel fleet under attack by some missile boat. Not only that, can't the bonus objectives been more sensible? Solo'ing a few Star Destroyers with an A-Wing (an effective craft, but still) seems extreme, especially with the prior X-Wing and TIE Fighter in mind (and no, self-imposed challenges do not count on canon). These aside, it sure is interesting to see what seems to the same Immortal from X-Wing, and it is a bit funny that you, Vanguard, took out that namesake Star Destroyer... and no, the Protector here isn't the same as the one in TIE Fighter, for obvious reasons.
The biggest challenge in this mission is that you are on a timer in the first combat region. You have less until 25 minutes in game to kill all the fighters and the capital ships or the mission bugs out and you cannot complete it. The faster you are the easier the second combat region is. This marks the second time I took out my namesake VSDII (B4M2 being the other). All the capital ships have bonus points attached to them, idk why especially when you are covering the retreat of the fleet. In reality the mission should force you to leave shortly after the fleet does. The missile boat never makes an appearance in this game, although there were plenty of opportunities for it to.
"Good job ace, dock and get some r and r." "Nah, i want some more."
There is always something else to destroy
It is mind boggling how spiteful disney/kkennedy are towards Star Wars fans. Never mind the complete f'ery of the EU, as if it never existed at all once that B' came along. But the games as well. "Rogue Squadron" on N64, "X-Wing Alliance"...Two classic and amazing Star Wars games they won't even acknowledge. It's so disheartening. However... It's always great to see folk keeping the dream alive. I really hope one day someone is able to wrench the Star Wars properties back from the wretched hands of disney. And I would hope the first act of that new owner would be to nullify every single disney-Star Wars realted property...Return to the original EU story-verse (maybe minus the vong arc). Back to the days of adventure and imagination...Back before the Dark Times...Before disney...
Definitely would be nice to see this genre of game made today by a competent developer, the games that they could make would be incredible.
siiiigh. Lucas never considered the EU canon. He helped it along, made sure they stayed consistent and in line with *his* vision. But even then, he still unambiguously said "they are a different world than my own." He simply allowed it to exist. Its actually not all that different from Disney calling the EU "legends". They just gave a name to what Lucas was treating them like and didn't give false impressions or hope that the EU was ever canon. Also, the games Bounty Hunter, Dark Forces Remaster, Jedi Outcast AND Academy, Ep1 Racer, and The Force Unleashed 1. All got modern day console re-releases and remasters in some instances. You guys act like you're getting nothing of the old pre disney era expanded content, when that's objectively false. Rogue Squadron and the X wing series are classic staples. Its only a matter of time before they're ported to modern hardware too.
"The Tyranny" ? Seriously? I mean.....the names "Ravager", "Executor", "Admonitor", "Agonizer" or even "Annihilator" aren't pleasant names themselves but atleast they sound a bit..... intimidating. Naming a ship "Tyranny" is just being over-the-top, cartoonish evil which is something the Empire kinda likes to do I suppose. Damn the Sith and their naming conventions.
Most of the capital ship names in this game are canon, the Tyrrany is one of the few names that is made up and didn't already exist in the star wars universe
*(reads description)* Maybe it's because of the plot? Either way, if it is a bug, I have no way to say feedback on this... hope that doesn't come to bite this playthrough hard. Funny. Mon Mothma's not advising you to take and hold Fresia, but you just did that so casually, because the planet was already cleared at this point. Somehow. 1:13: Gonna check that out often, the objectives, completed ones possibly included? Kessel. Very valuable planet. Take and hold it, would you kindly? 2:33: A familiar experience to X-Wing players. Hmm, seems the Empire is still using Clone Wars era Acclamators for troop transport, support carrier, and lite Star Destroyer roles. No Venators though. 2:51: Like the drink, just not spelled the same. 4:32: I dunno, the fleet can be able to battle them. Good thing the Sundered Heart retrieved the prisoners very fast. 5:28: Ah, fine, withdrawing because of mission accomplishement. The Death Star. We know how that goes. Before the droids have to go to, hmm, Mon Calamari, mayhaps a detour to valuable Kuat might suffice first.
Kuat quite important yes
Cleverly using Mon Mothma's bonuses for planetary production at the start? 2:01: Now, to make history and have the chance to mothball the Z-95s. 2:54: Ambush. That's the thing about Turbolaser Towers, they're not as effective on infantry. 4:34: Hmm, I would have restarted. However, do move on from that, Vanguard. 5:49: Costly, but the fruits harvested shall be worth it. Not mentioned in the game is the fact that one of the X-Wing pilots is Luke Skywalker's pal Biggs Darklighter. Yes, the same man from X-Wing Tour of Duty 2, Mission 7 - "Protect A Disabled X-Wing". Will see the next mission later.
I could have restarted, but I wanted the series to feel somewhat organic instead of never losing a single unit. I was also sick at the time I recorded these so didn't want to spend too much time on each mission when I was only up for a limited time at the computer
As this sim shows, TIE Fighters work better in groups, and with proper leadership to order them right. 4:34: Don't worry. One, this is just a sim, and two, rarely are battles won without a TIE Fighter being lost. 5:48: An inevitability, losing Alpha 1. Poor Pelicans. Their hyperjump point is too far.
I thought it would be only a couple KM's away but they but it super far away, I guess because it is an early mission
This kind of training mission should be impossible for unshielded TIEs in X-Wing vs TIE Fighter. Also, why doesn't this have a spot on the Strategy Guide? 1:17 and 1:40: The X-Wing 1994 Collector's CD-ROM Editon should have applied these too, even as optionals. 2:53: Take it slow. 7:43: Worth a restart. A dodecagon has 12 sides. Hence, the Dodec groups. 17:55: And depending on friendly cover fire.
I had restarted it a bunch already and didn't want to try it again so I just went with it
Strange, Korriban being an important tank production world for both sides. It should just be an avoidable backwater world for obvious reasons, really. And it's interesting in that it's Pirate controlled. Normally, there should be an Imperial garrison, by orders of Sith Lord Emperor Palpatine. 1:02: Dang, that's some swarm. Oh, yeah, the game also has time compression. Never used it much myself, because of the frenetic pace of the game. 2:45: Oh, hey, a Clone Wars era AT-AP. 3:17: And a Speeder Platform too. 3:25: Courtesy of Y-Wings being around. For the Empire, it's TIE Bombers. That was one risky bombing run coordinate. If I have a say on feedback, you might wanna scroll the mouse pointer to units and buildings, hostiles included if possible, so they can be read up on for a second or two (enough time to pause and read). Same with the control scheme, so viewers who don't even play the game can understand some things when they pause from the action... far as I can say, you're doing good enough work on some of those parameters. 4:46: Good shields, not so strong hull. That's the T2-B for you. 6:18: Planet's not cleared yet, game! 6:27: Huh. Where's the AT-AP tally? 7:24: Humidity shouldn't be that bad if red roses are growing nicely, Threepio. (But I have to wonder, is Wayland really a planet that can grow such pretty flowers?) 11:05: Haha, it's the weird TIE Maulers... but don't let their look fools you, they're surprisingly decent mechanized units in the game. 11:16: And yeah, engine overloads can make it a very effective bomb. Well, there goes the flawless run, but I don't care, EaW is heavily improbable to finish without a single loss. Keep at it, Vanguard! 12:05: Good to hear. Exfil now, brave pathfinders! 13:18: This game's tallies can be quite inaccurate if not misleading. Wayland is now on Rebel hands. Breaks lore, sure, but that's how EaW rolls. Doubt the Rebels will find Mt. Tantiss though.
The end of mission tallies are wildly inaccurate in reflecting losses. I think i'll do a separate video with all of the units and their abilities and cards.
Miss these games. I love how the Tie Fighter title text is bronze.
They were incredible for their time
As always, these are much appreciated! Thank you
:D
One of the best games for its time, shame they dont remake it
It is currently being reworked, check out XWVM on RUclips. No release date as of yet but it might come out in 2025
First, playthrough maker Star Marshal does Dawn of War, and now Vanguard does EaW... as an RTS fan, this is schway! Ah, the Steam version. Gets enough updates, unlike the GOG version... I wonder why? 2:00: Love it when SW video games do this transition too. 2:44: One will be surprised on how many works does Anthony Daniels reprise his Threepio role. 3:42: Haha, space barrels! Almost like in Westwood's Command and Conquer titles. So many TIEs. If this were an X-Wing game, the Corellian Corvettes would have lost, even with enough effort. 5:25: Kuat's not fully razed yet, game... ah, fine, holding back. EaW canon begins on Kuat (the Imperial campaign is basically non-canon), and it'll end on Kuat come Forces of Corruption. 6:37: In actual Legends canon, Wayland was supposed to be so secretive, not even the two droids plus Rebel Alliance High Command know about it. This may be used as evidence that EaW is set on a parallel Elseworlds away from proper Legends canon.
A lot of secret stuff going on in Mount Tantiss. I'm listening to the Unabridged thrawn trilogy on audible right now
Sometimes I am amazed at how bad the numerical disadvantage is in these games. 2 against a few dozen while protecting an unarmed shuttle?
It is understandable for the time period given how small the rebel alliance was when these events transpired, but it does make the missions much more challenging given you are always outnumbered, often heavily
WOW, what version is this??? Just started a replay of this masterpiece and this looks completely different from the TF '95 version on GOG EDIT-So I did some digging and found the answer to this. WOW!! Getting this today
Definitely recommend it, there is the original version which is the same as the '95 version and also a remastered version as well
There has to be some kind of Mandela effect, me and others thinking that Santa Claus appears in the '94 version of X-Wing. 1:17: If Disney Star Wars has Galen Erso and Orson Krennic, then Legends has Bevel Lemelisk. He and Tarkin were there when Ackbar was rescued in the sixth Y-Wing training sim (also called "Interception and Capture"), as featured in the Darksaber novel. 5:43: It's fine, R2, it can be repaired. Sensors are still up too. 7:40: I guess the mission's done. Picking off stragglers. Theta's the potshot group, I guess. Applaud your X-Wing allies for surviving this.
They might get that promotion after all
103 TIE Interceptors killed? Is Theta squadron infinitely replenished until the Star Destroyer's destruction?
There can be at most 10 waves of a flight group
I loved this game as a kid. can you play today with mouse and key?
You can yes
I put a lot of miles on my copy of TIE Fighter back in the 90s. I got the top rank in whatever that secret order was called.
The Emperor's Reach
One of my favorite games when I was in elementary school. It was such a brilliant concept and well executed.
Was well ahead of its' time for sure
This mission starts from a bonus campaign start up? I always thought it was started up through a reload of a completed Romulan main story campaign.
It's a standalone mission
@Vanguard717 I look forward to trying it out once I'm able to! (Still struggling to get back in a place >.<)
Hope to have you back soon duder
@@Vanguard717 Appreciate it. Hope 2025 is well for you.
And you as well
Bro how do you get the most unstable game of all time to run so smoothly?
This is a new updated version of the game called X-Wing alliance upgrade, stabilizes a lot of the issues and updates the graphics for the game. Highly recommend checking it out
@@Vanguard717 Will do. Thanks!
Definitely worth it, there is also one for tie fighter
@@Vanguard717 Nice. Played a lot of tie fighter, but could never get XwingVstiefighter or alliance to run properly.
The GoG versions run pretty smoothly for me, better than the CD ones
I must have tried this mission 7000 times and never progressed past it
Which part is giving you trouble?
@@Vanguard717 oh this was 20 years ago I cant remember now. appreciate you asking though!
@Lysurgic ah gotcha, this game was super hard when it first came out I never beat it with all goals before until this playthrough
It's not the Battle of Endor, but this mission sure felt appropriately important and even fun when compared to the tedium of XWA's own Endor. (reads description) That's a shame, Corvus losing her shields would have meant a nice segue into why the gravity wells didn't work when the Vorknkx started escaping. Speaking of, Corvus seems to be a reference to the player character of id Software/Raven Software collaboration Heretic+Shadow of the Serpent Riders, first released on late 1994. Despite (or because of) being a Doom clone, it's a real good game, and I could admit that it seems to have aged slightly better than its ambitious sequels Hexen, Hexen II, and Heretic II. 2:26: Audio saying 12 is wrong. Text saying 16 is still correct. 3:10: Because the Japanese translation, Kamikaze, would have concerned the censorship board. Hmm, wonder if Soyokaze or Nadesico could fit right in as Star Wars ship names... besides, FreeSpace 1/Port+Silent Threat: Reborn and 2 has the Soyakaze for one of its Orion-class Galactic Terran Destroyers. 4:34: Pull away... ouch, didn't make it. Don't fret about Strike Cruisers Ebolo and Daring. They knew the risks. 10:10: Don't see any pursuing missiles, take a rest. 13:05: Nah, just honed skills, and possibly neutral Force enhancements like some sort of foresight or timelooping. 14:02: *Thus die all traitors.* Darn it, your focus on the mission goals suddenly ended up not showing the end dialogues. Interesting how CGI is used for Zaarin's demise. Heck, I'll even argue that it looks better than X-Wing Alliance's because it was used sparingly and with finesse. 15:45: Title drop. Heh, silly how the Emperor's throne room is still used for Thrawn's location because of crude asset copypaste. VAs at 17:30. Sure, there's no Steve Blum, Jennifer Hale, Kevin Conroy, Hynden Walch, Yuri Lowenthal, and/or Cassandra Lee Morris for this game, but seriously, LucasArts sure had some superlative choices for their games' characters. 4,060,678+690,818 = 4,751,496. That's the final campaign score, theoretically speaking. 21:11: Such a foregone conclusion. Brings into mind the endgames for titles like Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Would be weird to see the training missions after the main plot's finished. Meantime, would like to see all medals, patches, the kill list and so on.
I'll show the score before i start the combat chamber missions
I played this game for years. Thanks for the memories!
Most welcome, it is a classic for sure
I didn't know you could pick up ejected pilots. Do you have to shoot them with Ion cannons to pick them up?
You do, in order to dock their movement speed has to be zero which means disabling them
This looks like a very fun game for being in the late 90’s
It was very good for its' time, it was recently remade with updated graphics and a new engine, called TFTC
Why do the enemy T/Is just fly in circles after being damaged?
They do not have hyperdrives, and their mothership is the ISD Glory which is not present, so they cannot fly home. This causes them to first attempt to go to hyperspace, which they cannot. Instead they fly to where the Glory was originally and just fly in circles. If you kill four and leave 2 alive, when the Glory returns they will fly to its' hangar.
The penultimate mission. Here we go. The Strategy Guide advises you to spare the fifth Z-Beta T/I. What you did here is close enough. Forget the music bug. Helps with the higher stakes, really. 10:20: Sorry, FRG Maru Ki. Hurting you because Vanguard cares. 12:27 felt good. Nice one with tractor beaming the last one so to make them collide with To-phalion Base. 15:05: That B-Wing was supposed to attack the Vorknkx if it doesn't get captured, but since it ain't getting away, the craft's task becomes superfluous while giving you a chance to have one last Rebel kill. Speaking of, I wonder if that B-Wing was piloted by Maarek Stele's former friend Grommet, and if not him, could it be a far too desperate Hamo Blastwell? Ah, we need X-Wing/TIE Fighter expansion pack lore! (And also curious that it's supposedly from Rogue Squadron.)
The glory arrives after 4 interceptors die so you have to save 3 of them
Any opinions of your wingmen, in any of the missions? Do they even TRY to do their jobs?
In this mission they are hit and miss, they will normally wipe out the first tie defender rather quickly but then they sort of bug out and fly around in a circle so you have to order them to attack specific targets and keep on top of them. They get more useless the further into the campaign that you get because the AI gets advanced missiles and your AI isn't skilled enough to dodge missiles normally so they get killed really quickly
