Other videos say to turn the gas off too. Also run clean water through the pump after use to clean the vinegar out of it.

Just hope you have 4 feet of space over your water heater to pull the rod. I'm sure the new rod is 150 bucks from the manufacturer .

hi i have a navien ncb 240 combi boiler. I completed the flush on the domestic side without any issues but when i attempted to flush the main heat exchanger there was no circulation almost as if there was an internal valve inside that was closed. the navien boiler was unplugged when i was completing the flush, should i turn it on in order to have that internal valve open? any advice would be much apprecited. thanks in advance

Thank you for the demonstration, this was very useful! Side note, applying both thread compound and Teflon tape can result in too much material on the threads, which can lead to improper threading or a seal that is actually less effective. The excess material might also clog the system downstream. Some manufacturers specify not to use both, as it can void warranties or lead to failures in the system due to incompatible materials.

Can you do one for the model NCB-180E?

Flushing an electric tank doesn't do a whole lot. They do not heat from the bottom. You're better off replacing the elements. If you're in the area with hard water and no water softener.They should probably be replaced every 4 to 5 years. It will keep the water heater more efficient and heating quicker.

Flush out pump before using. Mine had debris in the second year and I feel it compromised my vineger.

I have the 180 model and didn’t see a cold water filter does this makes sense?

With all due respect, I wouldn't call that a sump pump; but rather a submersible (or skimmer) pump being used to flush the unit. Otherwise, an excellent instructional video.

Ok, folks, here's a question. Just learned all these water heater maintenance ideas for my 20-year-old heater! [New homeowner in brand new home 20 years ago, wth did I know!?] Anyhow, wondering if it's worth messing around with this now. No problems with the water heater. Maybe just wait 'til it doesn't work and buy a new one? Or, try this to get another 5-10 years out of the heater and if it doesn't go ok, buy the new heater? 🙂

Just saved me a Saturday service call charge!

I have a 240A installed about 5 years ago.I do the cleaning every year exactly as you describe . I run the pump for 1 hour but the vinegar is always clean.. But I went on vacation for two months and shut off the heater and drained it. When I got back before I turned it on, I ran the water in the laundry sinc and saw the water a little rusty but ceared up in about 15 seconds. Now a month later I just finished the scalling and again the vinegar is clear. Is there anything to worry about? Thank you.

I need to replace my cold water inlet screen, and both o-rings, but the manual only has a part number fro the center o-ring. i'm also looking for the following: the outer big o-ring p/n, and the p/n for the little plastic redish color part on the inside end of the filter screen, and a p/n for the rubber piece on the tip of the reddish colored thing. any advise? My local plumber wants to come do a costly service call, instead of selling me the parts I can simply replace DIY. My unit is a NAVIEN NCB-240E-NG

Is the heating unit turned off at any time during the flushing process as far as it my be cycling in a heating mode? Example, flame in on, inducer fan on.

I recently installed a Navien model 210S2 which doesn't have the internal circulation pump. It takes 45-50 seconds for the hot water to get to sinks and showers, even though I already installed an external Watts pump (3.11 GPM) with a universal circulation T-valve (not a Navi circ) under the kitchen sink. Do I need to install these universal T-valves under every sink to help with hot water gets faster? Please reply with your recommendations.

THANK YOU!!! I had horrible gurgling bubbling sounds. Getting error codes and no hot water or heat. I did this exactly as you said and no error codes and the unit is so quiet. It was so dirty when I took out the condensate trap. I believe this was holding all the junk in the system and water which cause the bubbling noise. Thank you so much.... I don't need to pay $175 for a service every year either as I will do it myself! Great educational video at the perfect pace.

Just cleaned mine on a new construction house after 3 years. And I was expecting for the vinegar to change color like I watched in another video, but it stayed the same color. For context I live in the country on city water just north of Spokane. The dirt trap was dirty and the cold air filter had like three dead bees. The cold water intake filter was clean as well. Thanks so much this video was amazing step by step guide.
