FixMyApp is a relaxed RUclips channel where you can see educational videos of interesting repairs and analyze PCB boards builds from my perspective.
My name is Jimmy and I am a hobbyist technician with a degree in electronics engineering and software development. I've been interested in electronics since I was a child. I was that kid who took every electronic device apart to see how they worked.
In the last few years my interest was mainly in component level repair so I learned to repair electronics on my own and with some help from fellow engineers. Sometimes I succeed in repairing a device and sometimes I don't.
I buy faulty electronics with my own money and try to repair it and then sell it for a profit. In this process I try to learn how the device works and try to make a Diary for the repair community through this RUclips channel.

Desktop Motherboard Standby Voltages, Power Rails, and Circuits Explained - Part 2
Standby voltages on desktop motherboards are specific power levels supplied even when the system is turned off but still connected to a power source (e.g., plugged into an outlet with the PSU switch on). These voltages are necessary for basic functions like waking the computer from sleep, powering the real-time clock (RTC), and enabling the soft power-on/off functionality.

I have a faulty edm 020 board. 2sec blod. All my voltage rails are present apart from the ram coil is dead I get no volts and 0.04 ohms on the ram vias. I noticed under the microscope at the power button there is only one resister and a neighbouring empty pad. Should there be two resisters at the power button?

I have recevied a lot rp2040 and I and I have put in switch v2 and when I start the console now backlight work but not display , but in hdmi work good ( owf ) I have make second console same thing …
I would check the custom soldering job to see if there are components missing or damaged. Maybe remove the rp2040 to see if it works again if not i would investigate the LCD driver connector and IC. Gr. Jim
@ I have change the 8316 lcd driver and now i have display working good , but now the switch show logo Nintendo and black screen 😂😭

Hi i would first check pin 2 of the backlight connector to see if there is a voltage present. If the brightness is set to high there would be a voltage of +17V max. If this voltage is present then you LCD is faulty, if the voltage is lower like +4V then i know the backlight IC is faulty. Gr. Jim
Hello , thanks , I have tested backlight 16.2v
Hope to see more of these love this info sir

i have a nintendo switch lite that is water damaged. there sound but a black screen is the backlight ic damaged? and if it is can you tell me where to buy the backlight ic (and if its a tps61163a or BOU196). please respond thank you.
Hi indeed the backlight ic could be faulty check if you screen has an image when you light it from a external light if you see an image then the backlight is faulty. Cause can be the screen but i also suspect the backlight ic. Just search in google and you will find switch lite backlight ic. Gr. Jim

Hey Jim, really nice content. I think you are also from the Netherlands. Do you know if there is like a place where you can talk to people like you to share enthusiasm and to learn from each other? I have the feeling I'm alone sometimes when it comes too modding haha!
Hi Armando, yes you are correct i'm from the Netherlands. Same here it is hard to find friends with the same interest. Maybe you can join a discord group or maybe join as a volunteer at a repair cafe then you can meet persons with same interest. Thank you for your feedback. Gr. Jim

I mistakenly desoldered one resistor near the 8316 chip and lost it, it’s the one labeled in the video as “reference voltage of inverted channel”. I can’t find its value anywhere. What’s its resistance value?
Hi maybe you can give a timestamp in de comment and i can measure it from a donor board. Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjimonly after searching for the timestamp I realized you already provided the info. In 7:57 it should be the capacitor, not resistor, labeled as 0.1 µF - 10V. I don’t even know how I missed that
Before blue light when you load games had many horizontal lines impossible see the screen when stopped game was normal. After start having blue light and turn off after a beep. What can be
Ow this can me anything but most common are the RAM memory, SSD memory or controller and maybe APU. Gr. Jim
Widely used by business owners, I frequently see these types of mainboards inside horizontal cabinets accompanied by the module to accept card payments. In my city, the owners prefer them with this physical appearance (horizontal tower type) instead of a laptop (those fragile things are for students, one of them told me). Excellent topic. Thanks again Jim for sharing. All the best.

Great video! Where did you find the replacement drivers for the P5?
Hi i measured the dimensions and impedance of the old driver and bought a alternative premium driver with the same specs, best is to replace them both then the sound will be great again :) Gr. Jim

When the device is clean but turns off after about 5 minutes or at most 10 minutes during graphic games, what could be the problem?
These problems are difficult, but most issues related to this is the SSD controller IC or maybe a bad ssd memory. Gr. Jim
Powerful. Thanks very much sir
Thank you for watching! Gr. Jim
I can't get the voltage.
I replaced the external memory slot, it was damaged by the client. But it still doesn't work. I don't know which chip on the motherboard controls it.
Hi i would say to investigate the controller ic that drives the external slot try to follow the data lines as i don't have a ps5 board now to check for you. Gr. Jim
Very cool video, my only problem is my switch. Not even one voltage is like it should be, the 4,2V are 3,7 at mine and all the around 0,3-0,4 are 1,7 for me and i have literally no clue why
Hi it hard to give advice as the readings could ok depending on the multimeter and the state of the switch. Gr. Jim

Hi i can't give a solution based on this information, because you see the logo means it tried to start up and voltages are present. I would reflash the BIOS chip maybe the firmware is corrupted. Gr. Jim
