Tropicfeel - long term review
Tropicfeel is a travel gear company based in Barcelona. Over the last year, I've bought quite a few items from them and wanted to share a review of what I like and dislike about their products. So far, I've bought a Shell backpack, all-terrain hdry and dune shoes, a fidlock pouch, and a wardrobe system.
I tested these items on various terrains and environments, on day trips and multi-day adventures.
This is not a paid review; all products were either gifted to me, or I bought them myself.

What it's really like to live in London
Great video and thank you. Could you please suggest a neighborhood that is closed to beach, mountain and the city?
Hi , I work in London but live in village outside Southend the pay in London more because of the cost of things is more expensive as you say compared to other parts of the UKit's called the London Weighting also knwon as London Alowance. I'm surprised other cities don't offer anything like this if the cost of living is more expensive there.
I know someone that has their own channel he sees it as more of a hobby a job. The trouble there is perception that having your channel makes you very wealthy when reality it's the top percentrage of creators that make sufficient income to give up their other jobs.
Customer service now is horrible. They rely on Madrid and it takes ages if something goes wrong.
Hey , is it Revolut ? I haven't tried to contact them since they moved to Spain. I guess good thing with that move is that you get spanish IBAN though.
@@PauliusCreates I have other bank accounts, I am permanent resident but just fed up with ING
As a tourist in BCN, the biggest mistake I made was coming to BCN. I could have spent more time in Granada or gone to Seville, but instead I came to this s***hole. The Chinese are unbearably annoying and the Russians just don’t give a f***. Everything beautiful and interesting is ruined by too many people. I feel for the locals. Good luck 🫡
Hello, I have the Hive backpack 2.0 with the wardrobe and the cube as travel accessories. Personally, I would have preferred more pockets in the front of the backpack, just to quckly store stuff when, for example, I'm at the airport. I have also different tropicfeel shoes, but I think that the quality doensn't worth the price; there are other brand that are cheaper with a better quality.
Thanks for sharing! What other brands do you prefer ?
Decathlon items have a good price/quality ratio. For the shoes I bought a pair of the Salomon brand. Very confortable.
@ fair , big fan of decathlon. Was considering giving soloman a go too
very overrated city. i hated it and thought it was mid.
No need to worry about Catalan really as everyone who speaks it is a bilingual Spaniard. Learning Spanish, while not essential, greatly improves your life. Even doctors etc. as mentioned might not speak English, or like lots of other professional people feel embarassed about their language skills so would rather say they don't speak English. Aside from this, there are lots of immigrants from overseas (usually South America) as well as other regions of Spain where they only speak Spanish. Speaking Spanish shows people in your area that you're making an effort and aren't a tourist, so will generally engage more willingly even if your Spanish isn't great. They will be more than happy to exchange pleasantries and have a quick chat in a bar or on a terrace etc. which in turn will make you feel more at home and 'accepted' by the locals. Spanish only is spoken in bars - run by Chinese, alimentaciones - run by Pakistanis so maybe basic English at times, my local Argentinian butcher and I'm sure other busnesses in other areas where you just have to order things and where conversations aren't the norm. Were you to try starting a conversation with a stranger in begnner Catalan, the other person might not speak it and/or you might not understand the reply even if they do. Learning 2 languages at the same time could be costly - money anf time - so which is more useful? Spanish clearly whether you remain in BCN or whether you decide to move to or visit another part of Spain for work or leisure
so compared to the rest of spain, is it harder to integrate in BCN?
It's not easy. Is it the hardest, not sure, I didn't live everywhere, but it's def not the easiest
@@PauliusCreates okay thanks! good to know though
Bad smell is a deal breaker for me 🤢And paying a fortune to live in a cubicle in a smelly city definitely isn't what I have in mind.
If you're worried about squatters, invest in a security camera system in your unit. Portable cameras would record anyone entering.
Yes 100% good suggestion, started doing it this year :)
This was a beautiful video, the footage doesn't look like a random video, it looks like something from a film!

There are a lot of food markets in Barcelona, you just need to look for them. Great video by the way!
Thanks! Yea , I meant something similar to Timeout market with prepared food that opened later on this year :) But you’re right there are markets in practically every neighbourhood:)
Do you have any favourites?
I like the backpack, lots of features, and the wardrobe systems seems cool, but I agree with your point about the dirty clothes and where you would store them.
Wonderful video! Very helpful... especially the insights about making friends with locals... PS. Little tip for your videos: it's so easy to increase the brightness in any editing apps, it will make it even nicer to watch then brightness is consistent:)
I hope you didn't quit though. I meant the videos. Good job!
Thanks ! I have some videos cooking ! :)
Hello, is it usefull to apply for Beckham Law when my salary is under 3000€ net/month ?

yes he is right... don't come to shitty Barcelona!!... flats are expensive and there are a lot of cockroaches, noisy, polluted ... (we are already enough of us living here.. stay away!).. go to nicer places like Vilnius or Warsaw.
Warsaw? Kidding right?
Very poor. You could at least show a colour map area where you are talking about.
can i survive with spouse and 1 children for 1800?
Yes, but it's not going to be easy
I think it's all about personal preferencies outside of objective facts. I believe that salaries sucks, but is it in all the areas? like engineering? Rents also sucks. But I think there are a ton of things, that everibody compares tothe place they came from. I was in Barcelona 2 times in the last 2 years from Budapest. For me, the feeling of air quality was better (breeze from the sea), and I also found much more green, especially the trees on the streets. Transport is way better, food options are way better (especially bakeries, they are the same price as in BP and twice the quality). The overall mood of the city is also better for me. It has the same bad people sometimes, but the colors and buildings are just beautiful. I bet it would be much different if I would live there, but I think compared to budapest it is next level.
I've been living in Barcelona for only 6 months, and so far it's been amazing. Great video!
Thank you for your video! I dreamed of living in Barcelona and now you put it in a better and more realistic perspective 👍

Dont think yellow is your colour it clashes with your skin
Yes
Yes it is. I was born in Barcelona. And I didn't stop bothering my family until we moved out of Barcelona ... 6 days later. Yeah, that's how bad it is.
2 things to know if you're thinking of living in Barcelona: 1. Don't. 2. Same goes for Spain in general.
YES please don't come!
The rent has gone up. I've seen it since 2011. I used to live in a two bedroom & den with a separate kitchen, living room and bathroom for 550€ a month. Rent went up to 600€ before my now ex's mother put us into a 32-year mortgage for 660€ for a slightly smaller flat. Although I was gas lit into believing it was larger than the last place, even with my measurements I was still in the "wrong." I am divorced. I was married to a Catalan, who spoke Castellano with me, so did his family. Although I was encouraged to go to Spanish immersion classes, I often returned home (parent's house-fun) who spoke in Catalan, which made learning Castellano more confusing and, well, isolating, which is usually how narcissists want you to be, isolated. Now, I'm the "crazy one." Like how that works? So, I am facing an eviction, the social support system is basically a circular referral system that gets paid with our tax money to "appear" to be busy, ageism is very apparent-don't put your photo on your CV if you're over 40 or have gray hair. After meticulous searching for an apartment, which by the way requires a "contrato indefinido" or, permanent work contract, if you can get it, I successfully found what is basically a 30 Square meter kitchen with a bed in it and a separate bathroom for 950€ per month, third floor with no elevator, not including utilities of gas, electric and water, each that are eager to bend you over while they service you in the rear. Oh, and don't forget to bring a decent flashlight with you to inspect drawers and darker areas of the kitchen for cockroach traps and the telltale oblong empty cockroach eggs and bed bugs. I was with my now ex-mother in-law, who was "helping" us search for the place where me and my spouse would live, I saw the "cascos" eggs of cockroaches in one of the cupboards. She INSISTED that it wasn't, I insisted it was-I worked in pest control-until I looked under the kitchen sink and saw two roach traps on the floor, so I pointed this out to her with the flashlight and she waved me off, still insisting there were no roaches. Where there's one egg, there's 20 roaches. Try getting the landlord to do something about it because nobody here will admit the problem out of shame and that they might be responsible. Expect denial. I would go back to America, but they are basically insane, medicated, homeless, and I see the same trend unfolding here in Barcelona, with people fleeing the USA to buy up cheap property to flip into more unaffordable housing, quietly displacing locals with Air B&B's and extra high seasonal rentals. Now, the Spanish property owners of more than one property are trying to get away with seasonal, but since the new law to stop this in 2025, owners will simply rent for eleven months instead of the three-week, three-month rentals. So, if you rent an unfurnished flat somewhere on an upper floor, better not have much furniture to haul up and down the narrow stairways, you'll need to hire a "mudanza" to slide your furniture from IKEA down a chute out the window. Good luck.
This video is terrible it tells all the stuff which are NOT REAL. I love to watch tutorials like this about the city which I live 10 years, to discover they're all fake news! Even the photos this guy took, trying to portray Barcelona as a city with lot of buildings when in reality there is nothing. This city is terrible for living, is chaotic, full of drugs and violence! DON'T LEARN CATALAN! Fuck this culture, this is the most faxist city ever made in Europe is like Britanny from France, or Provence. It all looks fancy until you go there and they don't treat you with respect, they hate tourists! They hate immigrants! They hate human beings in general. Police here is extremely corrupt! Come here and you will find out, The only thing Barcelona is a city where everything could happen, parties, events, but is not good as it used to be. 5-7 years ago it was amazing, but now is recovering like the album Recovery from Eminem. The best of barcelona now, (which I don't like) is the beaches and the bitches (not the ones you find the alley, but the ones that get out of the bus) Yeah enjoy your toxic world, social status and fake people. People like you always love to lit things that are incombustible. The main reason why I love to watch these videos is to catch the false perception, newers always give when they talk about Miami, NY, etc. They always tend to show the goods, and avoid the ugly of any city. But let's be realistic without people there is no fun! We need to show people and who they are, showing Macdonalds and the Hospital is not a sign that the city is good! WE need realistic REVIEWS!
But why would anyone do that? You guys don't want foreigners in your country that can't speak English. Well guess what.
Lovley video, but what you say about markets its not true, there is a ton of them everywhere. Just not so much in the center that is where all the expats live 😅 But even there you have always one 10m walking from you place, guaranteed!!
Yea I didn't put it correctly I think. I was talking more about markets where you can go and get prepared food / beers etc. Most markets have a bar or caffee but what I had in mind is something like Timeout market that just opened :)
3 Things we (I'm from Barcelona) hate about expats: 1.We hate when expats think Spain is their country have dont like to respect the local culture of Barcelona. 2.When you expect people to speak English. You came to an Spanish speaking country, we did not go to your country. You dont need to learn Catalan, that is not true. Spanish is very well accepted here in Barcelona and you dont need to learn Catalan, especially if you are an expat. 3. We really hate when expats think that they are from Spain or want to act like they are from Spain. Not, keep your country roots and dont try to act like if you are from Spain or the city of Barcelna. 4.Extra: we also hate the fact that expats have made living in Barcelona more expensive due to the fact that expats are willing to pay more money for rent and food. This is really messing up local people here and yes, this is thanks to the expats. 5. We prefer that you stay in your countries. We hate when expats become obsessive with Spain or with Barcelona.
So you want people to integrate. But not too much. And in conclusion you don't want people to come here at all. Cool cool , good to know.
@@PauliusCreates Well I am catalan and I welcome expats. Enjoy your life here bro
I agree with everything. I lived in London and in the UK for almost 7 years, and work-life is way better in Spain. Living in London is not really worth it unless you have a good paid job, otherwise you end up living far away from everyone and everything, spending lot of time in the underground, paying lot just one bedroom and not having much time to enjoy. Which in Barcelona due the amazing size of the city and the balance with the mountain and sea, anytime and any day of the week you can enjoy after work. Food is way more great and way better quality in Spain, fruit and veg in London are all from outside and doesn't really taste great, most of it comes frozen and you cab really taste it. in terms of a good balance I would pick Barcelona 100 times more even though I love London, is not for me anymore.
make a guide with job hunting in barcelona please? from part time jobs to full time ones, as an exchange student that would be gold
Which one of these cities are closest to the Camp Nou?
It's Barcelona's neighbourhoods :) Eixample is probably closest to Camp Nou
Yes, it is. Please don't come. Leave us alone.
Don't welcome them. You have no idea what "Expat" means. Other areas of Spain are already totally saturated with grandparents and parents, expats, all these younger people who come here. In all these areas they have formed their guiris ghettos where they live for decades without integrating into Spanish society, they do not speak the language, they do not know the culture, traditions, nothing. They do not even buy in the stores, nor do they use the services because they have set up their own shops and their own service companies, everything they might need to live. On the other hand, when they interact with locals, they demand that They speak to them in English and treat them like the inferior beings they think they are, that's what we are to them. Never make a mistake with these kind of people.
Expats?? You are a foreign immigrant going to live in another country. Stop using the term Expat.

@@PauliusCreates por cuanto tiempo estaras en bcn? y a ver si aprendes catalan
I am catalan and my native language is spanish. The majority of catalans have spanish as first language but in recent years there has been a hysteria with catalan language. I would suggest learning spanish first and then if needed catalan. Remember that both spanish and catalan are official, so that every public employee is obliged to speak you in spanish or catalan if you request it. Spanish language is also a part of Catalonia no matter what ultra nationalist say.
yeah, we get it you are spanish immigrant trying to undermine catalan language and culture. Why dont you go back to where your ancestors came from if you dont like Catalonia and its culture. You have plenty of spanish speaking places to go.
It never appeals to me visiting Barcelona.....many great cities in Europe and Asia, but Barcelona is never on my list.
helpful, thank you!
Awful City, don’t come! Stay in you amazing countries 🙏🙏
Dani might be a hater, but the amount of expats I've met that don't integrate simply because it's easier to live in the expat bubble is astonishing, you have to give that one to him. He's losing his city and his identity.
Beautiful video of a beautiful city. Congrats!
