Finally figured out the battery draining issue on 1 ski that was dying after 90 minutes on the lake and wouldn't restart. Update: Took on lake. No issues. Tested voltage when back home. Both batteries over 12V and both charging.

These cars/engine are so easy to change the oil and filter, there is no excuse for not doing it yourself. Cost for oil/filter was about $35 Much better to know it was done right, and don't have to deal with oil change factories, as listed in a video by my friend Mike The Backyard Mechanic ruclips.net/video/E7sxkwXfaWk/видео.html Materials listed below. Looking to replace my old daily driver with a more modern SUV with 3rd row seating. I got a big win on this 2016 Dodge Journey R/T in great shape for $3950 with very little to be done to it. Cleaning it out I did find a diaper though. Pretty gross.

I bought this off this guy locally as I needed a lawn mower and I refuse to pay 100's of dollars for anything decent. I had a lawn boy about 10 years older than this as a kid and it was a workhorse as I mowed yards for money as a kid. This one is is a time machine. Original owner who included the owners manual, and several cans of Lawn Boy 2 stroke oil that probably are 30 years old since they ...

This is our first time buying a Copart car. I have no tripod, I'm not a professional. I used my phone. I wanted to be real and show it from the beginning after receiving the car. I had my son Joey helping as he's a better mechanic that me. I also misspoke on the wheels. I said $800 each. That's obviously wrong as they were $800 total. Same with the seats. Feel free to add comments and help us w...
Hi ., I want to make a response about the trim you mentioned it has nothing to do with how many people are on it tsp for the lake conditions .! For example if it’s really choppy you sent trim position where it says nose down the reason is with nose down on choppy water you get a smoother ride if you have your nose up on choppy water you be basically getting a harder ride it doesn’t cut thru the wakes out on the lake or River it Applies to boats as well to I Been riding these for 25 years my parents owned 4 different type of boats to that’s why I no hope the info helps . Nice video also😁👍
@@albertsikorsky1186 thank you so much!!
@@JoeTheCheapskate your welcome did you get them running good now I watched your videos you were having re starting problems?
@@albertsikorsky1186 Yes. They both run perfectly. 1 of them the gauges got wet and don't work. Both the trim and reverse cables are seized. I may make those a winter project to fix, but with 300 hours on each, I'm not sure how much money I want to spend on them. I may just ride them the way they are, which is fine. Trim doesn't bother me and I'm fine pushing them off the trailer and not using reverse.
how do you find those deals?
its pronounced sta--tor. and that part you showed is called a regulator/rectifier, it converts ac voltage to dc voltage. these ski's sure have a ton of salt water corrosion on them, you better make sure you get that cleaned up, checked out ?. have fun with them. p.s. you shoulda spent the 180 bucks for a new oem reg/rec, never trust used electric parts on these.
Rectifier is the word I was looking for. Couldn't remember it. Thanks. Yeah...these skis are an example of almost no matter how much you flush them out, there can still be corrosion from the salt and why I would never take a ski in salt water. It's just the engine surface fortunately, but it did also lock up the reverse and trim cables. That's my next project although those cables are expensive and not easy to replace. I've been fine just pushing them off the trailer and the trim is correct setup for 1 rider. Part of why I paid so little for them. Long term on the electrics, you are right. If the part had been hard to replace, I would have spent the bucks. However, that rectifier is 2 bolts and it's out, so I figured $20 was worth the risk. Fortunately it works.
@@JoeTheCheapskate i own the yamaha fx ho cruiser, 2015 model, its only been in salt water once sense i've owned it ( FL trip from arkansas ), flushed it as soon as i got it out of the water. it has been a wonderful ski so far, i think it now has like 30 or so hrs on it ?..lol. yeah..i don't ride much..i stay very busy working on honda atv's ( i rebuild/restore them ). this is how i knew the part you showed..lol.
I recently got a non running one of these for free. These videos were a big help. Also you don't have to spend 90 dollars on a new air filter, I was able to rinse it out.
Good to know and glad it helped
3 parts and no working shown in any of the videos, only talking...
So go watch something else and find something else to cry about
@@JoeTheCheapskate lol best comment ever
Awesome deal! I am looking at a 2004 FX140 HO for $5400. I am not paying that much tho! It only has less than 50 hours. Its been sitting in a garage for approx 10 years. Owner put in a brand new vattery and changed all fluids. Hose test is fine, but I really need to put it in the lake or tank to ensure the ski runs. Dont want to be stuck with a non-operating unit and spend more $ to fix. Great video.
Nice seabikes💯🇰🇾
I need to see the HERO SHOT! Video of you and Joey on the lake!
90 bucks is steep for an air filter. Can the old ones be cleaned?
Nope. I sucked it up and ordered them.
Sir Where are you from??
Dallas area
They're 1100cc dude, I have one. Those engine's are modified RI engine's, M1 engines.
Thanks. I was definitely wrong on that CI.
@JoeTheCheapskate look after them with really good oil mate. When you think about that little engine, they're stacking out 130hp / litre naturally aspirated. That's a lot p/ltr. I've had mine all it's life, still going like new, she's a great little fishing wagon.
I was about to say the same thing. A buddy of mine has one and it is almost identical to my 05r1 I had. It's a turd though. Definitely not like a r1 lol. That ski tops out at 52 on gps. My 2 stroke 760 out runs it😂
@@jeffbryner5355 yeah I’m Fine with it being a cruiser. You are right I have a 96 2 stroke wave runner and it’s way quicker
Thank you for the video!
Nice find , keep us posted.
Where did you get these?
I got them southeast of Houston. My uncle owned one and his friend owned the other.
How do you get rid of the “Change oil” message?
ruclips.net/video/Xb957JlD8a8/видео.html
Put the key in the ignition and turn to the on position, not starting/ nor cranking the engine yet, push down on the brakes thrice in a quick succession. The oil change message should go off. You may have to repeat this process twice or thrice. Good luck!
Thank you so much 🙏. I just bought a dodge journey and was wondering how to change the oil... god bless you
I like the oil funnel smoke stack. My tip: open the oil with a utility blade.
Good tip. I think they should be easily openable by just peeling it off without leaving a thin plastic spider web you have to pick off. But that's just me being grumpy. It's not that big of a deal.
Great story! Really enjoyed the process!
Awesome! I'm the same way. Stuff comes in front of you and you roll with it! Had learned on a mower just like this in 1987 boy what a time capsule! 1 owner...
Friggin car looks GREAT! Its unreal how good that paint is. After so long. Each video i cane help but see it. Definitely right someone loved her at some point...which is how every car starts out... hopefully. Great crusier. My 98 cobra is stock suspension looks the same. Today its about lowering and handeling but everyone has "their" own way of how theirs should look. Bravo brother. A trip to a detailer and man that thing will POP! Maybe worth an ask at a local shop and film it. No skipping steps! We want to follow along and see her burning tires on the road
Thank you!!
Love that you plan to keep her. Sho her a good tine put good add ons to make her distinct to you and your son. Just live it. As fof the trans fluid missed footage. Remember.....film Everything! Lol
Yeah...I should have filmed it all, although there was no room underneath, but I could have done something.

Just found the channel and man this car is SWEET. Keep giving her the love and piece by piece she'll thank ya in the end. $1750 well spent!
Thank you!!!
My dad has a 99 Ford mustang anniversary edition
It is my belief that the 1996 Mustang was the first year they used the 4.6LT engine ... yet you say this is a 1994 with a fender badge of a 4.6LT engine??? That style Mustang went from 1994 thru 1998.
You are correct in that 94-95 have the old fox body 5.0, and 1996 on have the 4.6. But the fender badge on the 94-95 say GT Mustang, which is what this says. It doesn't say 4.6
Lowered looked way better bro but still looks clean like this
Thank you. Making these videos has made me realize how many people like cars lowered. I'm just not one of them.
Man it really does sound good. Would have loved to have seen that trans fluid change footage!
I have actually given strong consideration to buying a lift. Working on suspension and underneath of cars on the ground is horrible
@@JoeTheCheapskate My garage floor is super smooth. I can slide under the car like I'm sliding on ice. It helps a lot. You are working on rough cement. Try putting large pieces of cardboard under the car before you work on it. It gives you a nicer surface to lay on, and also protects the driveway from spills. But hey, if you want to do > $10K on a lift - that's awesome!
@@MikeTheBackyardMechanic Good point. I used an old boat cover I had laying around to lie on. My main issue was just room. Just didn't have much room to get under and get the bolts on and off
Love these SN95s I have a 1998 convertible myself and have done a lot to it. I’ve had mine for 8 years and love it!
If you’re unsure about your fuses grab a cheap multimeter and check for continuity across the two pins. Also, if you have a pull and pay junkyard near you can find the console lid for $10.
That’s great!! Is she a keeper or you selling?? Also what happened to the clock that was on top of the dash?? Did the previous owner remove it and put a cover on it..
At this point, she's a keeper. I don't think I could flip and make much money on it, and I kinda like it. If someone blew me away I'd sell
The clock broke. It was brittle and fell off inside the plastic. Instead of replacing it, I bought a $9 delete cover. Clock was useful in 1994 but no need for it now.
@@JoeTheCheapskate yea those clocks are definitely obsolete, I never saw the delete before, that’s pretty cool!! I had a chance to buy a white 96 GT convertible with 120k on it last year, it was all original in what I would call great shape except for the paint peeling in one area on the rear quarter.. 5spd with blk top and grey interior, he was asking 3600, I actually got him down 3k but when it came down to it I couldn’t find the room, I had mine, my wife’s and daughter’s car’s taking up all my spots.. I really regret passing that car up!!
Those are SVE series 1 wheels, $200 a piece..The car is in great condition!! Nice find!! What was the bid on this at copart?? I’m actually looking to do the same thing..
You are right about the wheels. I had found $800 for the set. I sold them for $250 locally. The winning bid on the mustang was $1750. All totalled I'm in right now about 5k and it's a running driving cool car that I have used at times as a daily driver
@@JoeTheCheapskate that’s awesome, I saw what you did with the transmission… Great work… The 1750 sounds like a great deal but I’m starting to see with the price of parts these days that it’s cheaper just to buy a nice one than to make one nice, although not as fun or educational for the children.. I’m also planning on building one with my son.. Are you going to upload another video when it’s all said and done listing out what exactly you did?? I’d love to see that!!
I like it but I would lower just a tad it’s a little too high
I would put lowering springs on and lower the car 1.5in all the way around trust me you won’t scrape , but make sure your exhaust doesn’t hang low if it does I’d get a clamped bolt on exhaust like kooks that’s fits up nice and tight
It came lowered with gold wheels. It was scraping everything I ran over. I know a lot of people like it lowered, but I'm just not one of them. For me, harder to get in and out of the car, and I like a stock height ride.
If it says Ford, Chevy or GMC. Don't buy it. Don't even except it for free.
Wanda saw it I’m interest ?
Awesome rare wheels
I know you would have thought of this but since the back seat is out did you check the fluid in the reservoir of your convertible top pump? Should be a plug on the side, might be the issue, I think those are tensioner cables not sure what they do
I did not, but turns out the convertible top actually does go up and down...a little funky probably because of the loose cables
If it was a standard shift I’d say the Speedo gear was changed or left out after a rear gear change, that could have something to do with the speedo easy to check, But it being a automatic IDK. Your hood prop rod is missing. Someone Prob did a aftermarket O2 sensor or delete when they did exhaust sounds like a off road exhaust, so if you fix that your check engine light will come on, the computer will read a rich condition and trigger the light you can have a chip burned to fix that or several companies (Steeda-American muscle) can help with what you need. The lack of performance with that year mustang, well it is what it is, meaning the 94-95 mustang verts with AOD are the slowest H.O.mustang ever, ford made changes to the weight, EEC and no of those helped performance. You could change to 3.73 gears and a good stall maybe 3400. Then some roller rockers and a few cheap bolt on parts here and there. Rare to find those old 5.0’s with low miles good luck enjoy
You're doing a fine work my man. Keep the old beauties alive and looking good.
I like the old wheels better my guy.
Man that looks really good. I think you won big.
Wow your going way backwards! If you like that monster truck look your out your mind! 😂😂🔥
To each their own. Stock height with stock size wheels doesn’t seem to make it look like a monster truck to me. I just didn’t like the car scraping on every bump and having trouble getting in and out of the car. I know a lot of people like those gold wheels as I did manage to sell them
Its a v8 and a Convertable, Great firtment of wheels Stock has crazy wheel gap. On stock hight you still scrape the diff on speed bumps :( the steering wheel u can fix by buying a genuine leather wrap that you can saw on yourself for under $20 it makes a tremendous diffrence since you always touch it. I got a 96 gt vert for 2260 last year and so far i love it. Also take backseats out and look for wet areas under carpet and rust. Also make sure to check for convertable draining water properly through weep holes. Oil u can put a quart over what they say . Great ride man Congrats
Thanks!! I found out the funk on the steering wheel was just melted on and dried rubber from a cheap cover. I have been able to scrape it off, then use my steamer to clean it. Got a ways to go though. In the other videos, I took the interior completely out, and power washed the carpet. Made a big difference. It's way better at stock height than when it was lowered and it scraped on everything.
What you missed is the undercarriage! The NY sticker would give me pause that this was a northern car for at least some of its life. Underneath also shows rust, leaks, and foul play. The Mazda I bought for Kevin a few years ago didn't have a cat. That said, you had it inspected, so I'm sure it has a cat. You also didn't say if it is a 4x4. This could be good for you and your boat and stuff. For me, it was a big mistake. The AWD Lexus is harder to work on and/or just plain more expensive. I paid $1000 to have the starter replaced. But a tiny little IS250 has a lot less room than an SUV.
Good catch. I should have mentioned it's history. Always been a North Texas Car from it's Carfax
I did find out it's just FWD. Should be fine. I looked it up and it can tow 2500 lbs. That's fine as I just have a jet ski and utility trailer/4 wheeler that can easily be pulled with that
Bro you going backwards 😂
Bro great find!!! 👍 Also a car that old is attended to be a project car, so if the engine or trans blow it's time drop what you want in there and have fun and pain doing it 😂
That’s a lot of money for a downgrade in looks. Love the build and leaving a thumbs up but the wheels were a BIG step backwards
That's cool. Those gold wheels were obviously popular. Some liked them, some not. I did not and prefer the old school crager 5 spoke look.
Old wheels look waaaay better imo
Did u need a dealers license to bid?
No I used a broker
Just bought a 96 GT, also in Texas. It’s so nice to have a car older than 25 years that’s exempt from emissions testing. Cost a whopping $7 for a safety inspection!
Yes!! So great not to have to worry about some sensor or some little thing out of whack that doesn't really affect anything other than make some shop $1000 to fix it. My Son's 1995 vette we just bought is the same way. Cost me $7 to get it inspected yesterday
Those wheels look AWESOME! If you do the anti-shudder stuff, try to get before and after footage.
Little late on that one as I didn't do video and put it in. I've driven it like 40 miles and it's still doing it, so I doubt it's going to make any difference. Some people tell me it might take a fillup or 2 before it works, but I don't know why it would take that long. I could see it taking until it warmed up on the highway and cycling through all the transmission fluid, but not longer
