    If the restaurant job was that bad, that you were willing to become a grease monkey for less than $4 an hour, doesn't that mean you could have found ANYTHING ELSE BETTER THAN MINIMUM WAGE?!? Seriously, nothing in-between? There is no amount of context that would make me not want to question the proper functionality of your brain.

    How much boost

    • @everettfarr8036
      @everettfarr8036 День назад

      7lbs of boost. We are going to spin it a little faster to help it some. But to be honest, it needed a slightly larger supercharger. Its going in an incrediable black 66 Nova street rod. We are going to shoot the motor in the car in Florida when he finishes it. Its already making stupid power for the car. We will see.

But that’s a LONG LONG time ago! FYI he did figure it out and fixed it too! Oh and Todd’s and Brendan’s eyebrows grew back just fine! Nice build!😅

    how did you make the cylinder heads better? what was done by you that others did not do? a lot of people love to say they are better and people come to them for whatever instead of others, but never actually mention why or what makes them valuable. just comes off as blind narcissism

    Something is not correct .... That head has enough flow with that camshaft to make 900 to 960 hp NA .... Even if you say 150 drive hp for the supercharger or that its actually making 1100 hp that is only 630 hp NA plus the boost... Its coming up way short of what it should be

    When running those types of rocker arms on older type Chevrolet aluminum heads, not a good idea, they always pull the rocker arm stud bosses out,or break them off. Run a good conventional rocker arm and put good set of stud girdles problem solved. If you need a offset rocker for clearance on pushrods order them as such for this application.

      Was such a blower made? (Don’t they usually have even numbers for that first number, e.g. “8-71”????)

  • @stuartbuckley6113
    @stuartbuckley6113 Месяц назад

    Send the blower in to be serviced, it makes to much noise and not the right amount of boost. My 8-71 makes much more boost than that 14-71 under driven without that loud whistle noise.

    • @arturozarate1752
      @arturozarate1752 25 дней назад

      Service what exactly? Your smaller blower would most likely register more boost. Boost is a measure of back pressure. The idea is to make more power with less boost. Air charge temps stay cooler. Anyway service what exactly?

    • @dennisyoung4631
      @dennisyoung4631 9 дней назад

      Uh, an *unboosted* “572” is going to make a great deal of power all by itself. Only reason I can think to add a blower to such an engine is 1) competition, 2) appearances, or 3) some reason I cannot fathom, e.g. “I must have a blower, as I’m wanting a real life version of an A-Car truck, and those had blowers!”

  • @jaycarter9489
    @jaycarter9489 Месяц назад

    DYNO s truly do show what your motor is made of, if you want to be sure find your happy HP spot and run it 10 15 times on the dyno to make sure the motor is solid. Taking a can of NOS and making a crazy number only to blow the motor to pieces when you go to use its just expensive, knowing with settled confidence that your motor is solid makes the label on the engine irrelevant

  • @elijahtoler4274
    @elijahtoler4274 Месяц назад

    That blower must be totally de-stripped. I think that engine would love some E-85 and tight stripping, if the valve train could handle it of course.

      Nothing mythical about a crate LS-7, There's a dyno in an old rod mag of one running 580hp stock w/headers. My friend had one in a 69 vette, 4sp with 410s, & a 850 Holley than ran 11.87 @ 127 mph

    To me, it seems that most engine dyno videos are using SAE Gross Horsepower (Headers, Tuned/Jetted for performance, Spark Advance/Curved for Performance, Open air cleaner, no belt driven accessories). Which to my understanding (maybe I'm wrong) is how the manufacturers rated their engines before 1972. After 1972, regulators forced manufacturers to use SAE NET Horsepower ratings (Pretty much how they were run in the vehicle, from the factory, Full exhaust including factory exhaust manifolds, the tune and spark timing/curve it will have from the factory to meet emission standards, full accessories). Can someone confirm or deny?

    • @cuzz63
      @cuzz63 Месяц назад

      you are correct. the earlier engine dyno's were done without any accessories. one thing also is that they sometimes underrated the HP numbers..there are various theories about why.

    • @danielslocum7169
      @danielslocum7169 Месяц назад

      I believe that you are correct. People doing dyno tests would likely be hard pressed to replicate in the vehicle conditions required for net results. Most all old school horsepower enthusiests speak in terms of gross horsepower numbers in reference to the old carbureted engines, myself included. Yes the modern engines are highly developed and usually more powerful than the old stuff.

    I think alot of people dont understand what u mean when u say "to blueprint a engine". I think they also dont understand alot of engine from all the manufacturers did not have the actual compression in real life as they left the factory then as what they were advertised at & i dont think they understand why that would be.

    • @danielslocum7169
      @danielslocum7169 Месяц назад

      Thanks for pointing out that factory advertised compression ratios are often over rated. Iv argued with people on UT who just refuse to believe it.

    • @jesseduke694
      @jesseduke694 Месяц назад

      @danielslocum7169 most people have been hearing that all these muscle car engines were under rated! They believe they all are way stronger than the advertised number. Wich some are! But it's backwards to then tell them they don't really have as much compression as claimed. Some folks just have a hard time digesting that.

    That’s pretty healthy for a basically stock LS6. Once you get a good intake and exhaust setup those old Chevy factory cam profiles almost always produce the same HP as TQ in various displacement engines too.
