Predictive vs Reactive Shooting 4K
(00:00 - 00:59) Reactive Shooting Defined
Focuses on “see the sight, press the trigger” for each shot.
The shooter waits to visually register the sight on the target before pulling the trigger again.
Ideal for high-accountability shots (small targets, distant targets).
(01:00 - 01:55) True Reactive Method vs. Hesitant Press
True reactive shooting means pulling the trigger immediately once the sight is confirmed.
Hesitating or pressing slowly is not fully “reactive.”
Human reaction time limits how fast each shot can be fired accurately.
(01:56 - 02:58) When to Use Reactive Shooting
Best used for shots demanding precision and accountability (tight partials, head boxes, longer distances).

(00:00 - 00:36): The speaker begins by demonstrating a comfortable, controlled shooting style, noting that simply shooting accurately at a slow, comfortable pace isn’t productive training. They decide to increase speed and become less reliant on precise sight picture details. Dry-Fire target Transitions by Joel Park Key insights 💥 "A drill I do very regularly in dry fire is working on target transitions." 👀 Pay attention to your eyes and where they go first when transitioning between targets in order to improve accuracy and shooting technique. 🔍 Paying attention to specific spots on targets and allowing the gun or sight to go where you're looking without any extra d...

Dryfire Target Kit Setup! TLDR: The key idea of the video is that setting up depth in dry fire training is important for improving focus and target acquisition skills. 1. 00:00 🎯 The scaled dry fire target pack comes with pre-cut cardboard sheets that can be punched out to create dry fire targets, and there is an AAP inside to help simulate specific distances, but people often overlook the impo...

So a Blake Drill....jk
Melanoma training.
Are the purple dry fire mags, the ones that weight the same as a fully loaded mag, worth it?
Soooo much to digest here.
Thats a gnarly sun burn
I'm absolutely loving this channel. Thank you for the drills and information 🙏
You should have given a shout out to the guy that made those covers, and a tag in the description
But can you go sub 1.5 with wrists above shoulders start?... That’s where the real added time comes in
Like this format, and whatever you guys did with the audio keep it up. In some of the other videos wind makes it hard to hear what y'all are saying.
Is that a CZ?
Joel is definitely an autistic gun nerd 😂 thank you boys
i like the magnet for unloaded starts
Hi guys. Do you have any experience with occluding dot on the carabine ? I wanna improve target focus. Thanks
Whoever edited this video did a great job. The on-screen text, stitching in the voiceovers and b-roll, and the little zoom bubble to help see the hits on target. There are professionally made videos that aren't as well put together as this
This is the video I needed. This is the issue I had. Soft grip in dry fire which became muscle memory and struggling with recoil management on my first shots. Great content.
Slow fire has its place but in order to break plateaus in development, shooting fast also has its place. Even if you are unable to shoot accurately or if your form breaks down; alternating between fast/aggressive shooting and then slowing down to work on the weak spots you found is the best way to make progress. You need to identify and build on both your strengths and your weaknesses, especially as a CCW holder.
If you are waiting for the gun to settle back on to the target that's a recoil control issue and a waste of time in a gunfight.
Yes. Let’s not be accountable for rounds fired. Bold strategy Cotton. Let’s see how that works out for you.
Don't you need to FIND the dot ro REGISTER the dot on the target? Must be an inexperienced and bad shooter.
Lmao imagine carrying all your salt into 2025
@@shootinbruin3614 Takes a special kind of loser to add a "lmao" to his own comment. Now back to the basement, virgin.
@@shootinbruin3614 Imagine how pathetic it is to write "lmao" on your own comment.
@ Imagine how pathetic you need to be to consider that a comeback LMAO
@ You seem triggered, Need a hug? Maybe you should go to your mommy's basement and if she's not "entertaining" I'm sure she'll give you the lovin you need. If she's busy with others, scrape up $15 and I'm sure she'll let you cut the line.
what type of iron sights are on his glocks?
Non you can see they are uninstalled. His setups are for comps, training and race. It's not for EDC or combat or what ever.
@@smashnmash1807 thank you! Just got my first glock. What sights do you recommend?
What are your thoughts on the DMP recoil systems? Just picked one up for my PDP, I also have the ZR tactical guide rod but the DPM’s multi spring system was interesting. DPM is a heavier reco
It's definitely different, maybe better. I had a dpm system for my s2. My opinion is just above whale s, but that's my two cents. Switching to the pdp, once I hit 25 30 k rounds with the s2, it was one maintenance issue after another. Also, the s2 with a direct mill beats the dog s out of dots. Hopefully, the walther based off the glock better suits my needs. If not, it's Glocks with a trigger job for me. Sorry for the clunky sentence structure, I had a few after work. Spent a bunch of money this weekend to switch platforms but I'm pretty pumped up about it.
Y’all are the best haha. Thank you for the info.
I'm digging the business slacks.
Predictive shooting happened when I qualified on our range. Reactive shooting happened on the street when I was confronted by armed robbery suspects I was trying to arrest, but they were shooting at me & I was forced to return fire.
Great video! Ty Do you have a video about shot calling?
Buy American. Support your fellow Americans
Joel’s explanation of dot press dot press was extremly helpful In my mind dot press dot press was more confirmation 3 stopped and stable dot Always more to work on 🫡

Great hobby.
Ben, please take care of yourself & use some sunscreen 🧴. My neighbor had to have part of their nose removed due to skin cancer. Thanks for the free content. 👍🏽
Ben and Joel’s videos are always incredibly informative and helpful. And we are getting all of this for free! If a free video can be this instructive, imagine taking a class with them!
Finally, an excellent visual and auditory explanation of this topic. I’ve been hearing about it for the whole year with minimal understanding but finally, we now have an excellent video to explain. Thank you!!!!!!
Great explanation. I got a lot out of that. Thank you. Off to the range!
Whitest Kids You Know go to the range
Thank you. Ive been doing thisnnot knowing how to explain it to people. Feeling the shot not going where you intended is what I haven't been able tp explain. Ive been saying ot calling shots. But it doesn't explain it like this.
Gold!
Looks like he put pro grip on his biceps and forehead
I mean executing these skills with third degree burns is super impressive!!! Kudos to Ben!
The look that Ben made when Joel said "let's say Ben has a bullet down here". HAHA! Great video!
The fastest I can shoot reactively with production irons and still get a nice tight pattern is 0.3 second splits. At .25 I'm just not getting a good enough sight picture for high accountability.
Been couldn’t keep it together at the end😂 he’s like “Fuck I gotta put some rounds down range.” Like a crack head looking for his next fix.
Thanks for the share!!
4:53 so is reactive shooting a engagement strategy that predictive shooting helps to hone ?
Thru practice you should be able to decide when to deploy each engagement strategy (Predictive or Reactive) based off target difficulty. One doesn’t train the other. Think of each differently. IDK maybe this helps. In sport football you want to score touchdowns on offense. Two common ways passing TD or Running TD based on situation and success in practice team decides best strategy to score TD.
Thank you Ben and Joel for breaking down the definitions of Reactive shooting v. Predictive shooting. It explains alot of what I'm going through in my own training.
looks like no matter how hard you train you ain't gonna beat the sun
Hats are a thing.
