Great to see you blokes having a good time out here. Those turkey legs are always a lot to get through! The best ride is the canoes, in my opinion. The crew running them is just hilarious, and it's something that just screams old-school Disneyland. Most people don't even think about them. :) I'm 44 years old, and every time I visit this park, it makes me feel like a little kid again, watching the old Disney programs with Walt talking about animation, theme parks, or music. I'm pretty well jaded about damn near everything, but this specific park just transports me back to my childhood like none other.

Those turkey legs can be quite a challenge to finish, right? But not for Dylan. 😆 The canoes are definitely a hidden gem at the park, we will have to check them out next time we visit. Pretty sure the “Cars” story is true: In order to get realistic car motion, they used cars which replicated the ones later to be animated (size, shape, suspension, etc.). This car would hold cameras filming both forward and rear views as it sped down the road. Two other cars…either “regular” cars or again another model type to be used in the movie…would drive in front of and behind the one shown in this vlog…filming from those perspectives towards the main car. When they got back to the studios, they were able to “paint” the animation over all this footage, getting 100% realistic motion and perspective of the main car being driven. This is something an animator just can’t do from his head, no matter how talented. They use this same technique for PEOPLE, but using body sensors instead. They record the motion, and then paint the animated characters over it. “Avatar,” for example. Walt Disney invented the technique way back in the 1930’s for “Snow White,” but only for the characters they wanted human realistic, like her, the witch, and Prince Charming.

@@TheRoadBechAndCalls You also touched on a great point after your visit to Home Depot: The big box stores like HD and Lowes killed off all the little hardware stores in the country, so even if you just want to pick up a small box of wood screws, it’s a total pain in the ass. You have to walk a mile from your car to the entrance, another mile to your aisle, and then do it in reverse to get the hell out of there. You also lose the service of your small, friendly, neighborhood hardware store. This is a very serious thing for Mr. Fix-It’s like me. We’re always shlepping to the damn store. There’s a chain here called “Ace,” much smaller and easier stores to get in and out of, but they’re very few and far between.

So happy to see Dylan get the help he needed from a real American craftsman lol.. I imagine Dylan is quite handy himself with a set of tools. He sure looks capable of handling any problems that arise. Never knew that the oldest McDonalds was located in Downey. My grandparents lived the next city over in Norwalk. When I was a 16 year old high school student (1977) I tried my darndest to get a job at a local McDonalds. Ended up getting my first real job as a teller (cashier) at a local credit union. Back then it seems that most McDonalds employees were teenagers. Mostly high school aged.(Is the the case in Australia?) As I recall, even the shift managers were high school kids as a very close friend of mine was actually managing the entire store during his shift. I'm sure that wouldn't happen today. Got lots of free orders of french fries. Mila and I continue to enjoy following the adventures of Dylan and Tre as they trek across the US and uncover the stories behind these iconic pieces of Americana. And certainly nothing is more American than McDonalds. They are such pleasant gentlemen. And I am sure that they making friends wherever they go. We always love hearing Stacey's contribution to every video through her perfectly scripted commentary and beautiful Aussie accent. It doesn't get better. lol... All the best guys. Dylan is quite skilled, but he values having a helping hand or a second opinion at times. We also didn't know about the oldest McDonald's location! While we don't eat at McDonald's much anymore, visiting for nostalgic reasons sounds like a fun idea. In Australia, McDonald's does tend to hire mostly teenagers. Landing a job there can come with good benefits and help young individuals start their journey towards a successful life. Your feedback is truly heartwarming! It's wonderful to see the encouragement for Dylan and Trae. Your appreciation of my commentary and Aussie accent in the video I find is a great encouragement. Rich and Mila from Seattle, your support is greatly appreciated by us all!

I have great memories of camping and riding dirt bikes out there in the desert with my brothers and cousins and of course my dad. White Castle burgers are not premade and heated up. They are steam cooked. That's why the bun is soft and just a little wet on the part that lays on the beef patties. I love White Castle burgers.
