Line 39 Pinot Noir | Cheap Wine Review | Mushroom Lovers Rejoice!
Cheap Pinot Noir always scares me a little. With Meiomi Pinot Noir instigating the trend of overly sweet crowd-pleasers, I've tasted my share of shockers!
So does this Line 39 Pinot Noir stay faithful to the grape or is it just more manufactured swill?
I taste and review this incredibly priced Californian Pinot Noir to find out!

I Tasted Kirkland Russian River Valley Pinot Noir [Costco Wine Review]
I did try the Apothic red and I thought it was undrinkable. But of course it's a matter of personal taste. Is there a Cabernet for say 15. out there that you recommend. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.
For 10 bucks it's fire! Good w pizza
Yes! For sure a casual wine to have with some pizza 🍕
This wine is a solid go to. Got to go by this winery recently and it was a great experience. Good video!
I tried it room temp it was terrible. I chilled it in the fridge overnight and it only got slightly better. I'm not really sure what this brand is even about. I wasn't expecting it to blow me away, but it's almost undrinkable.
Next time I will buy aphotic cab , n will check your taste 😉
And mine 😊
Hey, I'm looking at either this in a 2020 vintage, Meiomi 2022 vintage, or a Tudor (almost triple the price) 2020 vintage. And we're talking Costco here. Because this is at Costco. I just want to cook beef bourguignon with it and I know a lot of people say just use the cheapest option. But I don't want it to smell funky. This is by far the cheapest opinion, and I was hesitant at first but mushrooms are already going into the bourguignon. What's your opinion on cooking with it?
Is it normal for this wine to make a "hiss" sound like when opening a soda when you first open it?
This wine is a winner. And here in the US, it's available at 7-11 markets. Punches above it's weight class. Consistently tasty over the years. Lots of character and good mouth feel. Long middle and finish. The blend ratio is spot on. Cheers!
Just bought a bottle for my Mom's birthday, after your review of the 7 Deadly Zins, her current fav. I'm excited to try it. $28 in Canada.
I just bought a bottle but haven’t tried it yet. I’m wondering if I should put a little bit of it in my spaghetti sauce. I hear it makes the sauce better.
Well yea best sauce
I think it tasted better before it changed its label. I don't know why. Any other good recommendations for carbenet sauvignon?
I am currently tasting it right now and it’s so delicious year 2021
Talk faster in opening. Get to it. 😊
This Shi fye
Really good review. I've just treated myself to a bottle. Cheers!
This is and has been one of my favs!
Hello, I'm a new wine drinker. I really love the 2021, but sometimes it's hard to find that year. I got the 2022 and it is nothing like the 2021. How does this work? Are there only a few 2021 left, or do they continue to make it the same way, and 2022 is just a different way of making it?
I tried only one glass and gave me a headache the next day. Very bad wine!
Meiomi spends a lot of money towards marketing instead of making good wines. It’s overhyped and overpriced.
'PromoSM' 💐
One of the worse wines I've ever had. And I feel poisoned to be next day. I do not recommend
I love this wine as corked. They've switched it to cap and it does not taste as good. Sad
I have a 2022 corked. So they haven't completely switched!
@Bobdylan12121 Have tried the twist? Can you taste the difference?
@bullyboy131 I have not tried the twist cap, this is the first time I'm trying it ever.
It used to be much tastier than it is now. I don't know what changed, but it's now a "pass" for me.
Not blanK Blan 🤦🏻♂️
I've had Meiomi Pinot in the past and enjoyed it. Recently, I had a glass of it with dinner and was "disappointed". Thinking that, perhaps, the bottle had been opened for too long, I picked up a bottle of it at the liquor store where I work. On opening the bottle "fresh", I was met with the same disappointment as I had felt at the dinner. I was telling a customer of my concerns and the rep for Meiomi happened to hear us. He mentioned to me that there was a decided difference in the newer vintages, as they had changed the grape formula for the wine. I still have customers that love the taste of it, but I will steer clear for now.
That's interesting. It's very unlike your typical Pinot Noir, that's for sure. I'd love to know what grapes they use!
I’m fairly new to the Wine World. This is my first wine where I’ve noticed a significant drop in quality, I promise it wasn’t always this bad lol I had it on the same level as Francis Coppola Noir for a little bit.
I've heard this a few times. I guess quality always suffers as production volume increases so much. It's just a shame they don't feel like adjusting their prices to fall in line with the current product! 🙄
Try the chateauneuf du papes or rioja next!
I'd love to! I'll hopefully find them soon 🙏🍷
Woodbridge is peculiar. It's OK if you are in a jam, but it is a little too sweet. You can do worse, however.
Yeah, it's not a bottle that you really want to buy but for $7 it's probably the best you can do in the US outside of Costco.
Horrible wine. Maybe OK for prisoners? I guess that's illegal.
Haha absolutely! 😂
Completely agree!
The 2019 vintage was way better which I still have a bottle of. I've already had one bottle before. They also came out with a 2019 Kirkland Signature Chianti Classico Gran Selezione for $17.99.
I think I must keep just missing the the other KS Chianti! It's one of been wanting to try for a long time. Hopefully, catch it soon 🙏
I still have a bottle of 2017 Kirkland Barolo. I agree that it's really good! I even have a bottle of 2019 as well. I also wonder if you've tried the 2018 Kirkland Signature Brunello di Montalcino? That one is supposed to be really good for the same price as this one.
I haven't tried the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino yet but I'm hoping to soon. I enjoyed the 2017. Love the KS Barolo, it's such great value!
I find that the quality put out by Coppola Winery tends to surprise me, in a good way.
Yeah they make some great wines! Usually a pretty safe bet 🍷
I watched a couple of MW taste that a couple years ago. They tasted blind and then they started gagging and hacking. Nothing you said made me think it was a Pinot Noir, especially the color. I would have guess a Zin.
There's really not much about it that makes you think Pinot that's for sure! It's really unusual stuff. American winemaking labelling laws dictate that it needs to be at least 75% Pinot Noir to be labelled as such. It could well feature a big dose of Zin
I can't stand Meomi Pinot Noir
😂 It's rough stuff, it really is!
That is a nice wine glass, who makes it and what is the cost?
Thanks! They're great glasses, I really like them. It's this one: us.josephinen.com/products/josephine-3
I haven't tried Cloudy Bay, but one of my favorites for 2022 and 2023 vintages is Oyster Bay. I would love to see what you think about Oyster Bay. It is a bit less expensive than this Cloudy Bay. I WILL try the Cloudy Bay, as well.
Oyster Bay has been on my list for a while and I'll pick it up soon. Thanks for the tip! Cloudy Bay is great but it's a big jump in price. The Kim Crawford SB is my "go to" budget NZ SB
Strongly recommend Pa Road at $13 nzd is very nice much nicer then kim crawford in my view but always personal taste
Cloudy bay is real nice but definitely more of a treat given the cost
I love the Kirkland reviews. This one in particular, not too buttery, $8, not too sweet, 7.5 score. I'm picking this one up. Thanks. If you ever get stuck with a buttery chardonnay you don't want to drink, as I have, they do make for great risotto or polenta dishes. Thanks for posting.
Great idea, I hadn't thought of that! While this Chardonnay is not going to blow your mind, it's very well put together for just $8. I don't know of another Chardonnay around this price that comes close
Right, I do keep price in mind when setting expectations. I really like Kirkland wines, generally finding them to be great values. Rarely are they mind blowing for $15 or less. Thanks.@@wine_turtle
Sounds like a typical Zin :) This is not my favorite varietal for the very reasons you mentioned in your description. Give me a good Tempranillo and I am happy.
I'm with you there! Tempranillo > Zin
This is one of my favorites
I'm thinking about getting this. I'm sick of Barefoot wine
It's better than Barefoot for sure. But if you can get to Costco, the quality of wine increases significantly for just a few bucks more 🍷
I have not tried this one, but I do actually like Apothic Red blend (NOT Crush, or the dark, etc.). For the price, it is good for a table wine.
I haven't tried it but I think we have a bottle somewhere. I had the same impression as you about the Apothic Cab. It's much better than this!
I wouldn't expect anything more from the wine company.
Agreed. Better marketers than wine makers!
Great video. Thanks. I had this one and agree with your review. I liked it, but wanted more from it.
There are just better alternatives at Costco at that price point. I also forgot to mention the Francis Coppola Claret which is a very similar wine (Bordeaux blend using Californian grapes) but has better balance. I reviewed it favourably a while back: ruclips.net/video/QePUXMRX4b0/видео.html
I agree. I'll have to check the Claret out, thanks.@@wine_turtle
Sounds like a great one, thanks for sharing the review. I think Kirkland wines are the best budget/value wines out there.
Excellent value again. Without the Kirkland label it easily sells for +$20. Agreed, Kirkland wines are crushing it!
Agreed. Kirkland Signature does have some great values at the lower and medium priced wines. I bought a bottle of this and will buy another one. I’m in south Florida and per the Costco app there is only one store that has it in stock.
Just grabbed a case at my local Costco. Thanks for the review.
Oh you timed that well! It doesn't usually last long in store. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Cheers 🥂
thank you for your service delving into these dungeons
Haha this made me laugh! I'm glad my suffering has been appreciated. It was a dark time that I try not to think about!
I love the budget, available wine reviews. Thanks for sharing them. I actually thought the Winking Owl brand fom Aldi was passable. I use it cooking, but I'm happy to drink the leftovers. Of course this is keeping the $3.45/bottle price in mind.
Thanks, that's great to hear! I don't have an Aldi store nearby but I'm working on getting my hands on some of their popular wines. Hopefully, coming to a video near you soon!
@@wine_turtle Cool, I look forward to the reviews. That said, the Winking Owl is ok considering the price. Not worth going out of your way for. I don't want to mislead you on a $3 wine.😅
Love this wine. Good with meals, friends, and a wind down. Also, the Director's Cut Cabernet (Sonoma County) is stellar at around a $20 price point. Both wines are workhorses. Great review!
Absolutely, it's amazing value. Oh I'll grab the Director's Cut when I see it, thanks for the tip! 🍷 I appreciate you saying that, cheers! 🥂
Too funny, thanks for sharing.
It was more interesting than the wine was 😆
