Funny enough - Bruce Swedien did this exact thing on Thriller and many other classic records to make dry synths a bit more 3D.

Ghost City and Fire by the Silos are two of my favorite albums of all time, and the realization that you did both of them made me literally start taking notes

this mix is perfect. there's nothing more that can be done to it and there's nothing that can be taken away. Rarely can an artist say their work is finished because they aren't really sure where that point is and when to stop ...but this mix is absolutely finished.

Hi Mark. I would be very interested to see some kinda of a basic workflow tutorial of an overall mix for beginners. Like 'start with drums', 'how to get drum levels right', what to do next, bass, guitars, etc., like a flowchart to follow, when to move on from one instrument, when to come back to it. When to get into individual instrument compression, when into buses or overall mix. Stuff like that. Would also love to see more Toska's Congress mix breakdown in the future!

So a gate is being applied also on the farther kick mic based off of what the close kick mic is picking up. Is that correct? I've gone over it a few times but I am not sure I got it right.

Around 20:25 I got distracted by the moth breaking in through the window, but another great video Mark. Instead of the space echo or plugins, what's your take on guitar pedals? So adding something like a Strymon El Capistan, or a dirty analog delay pedal? I reckon you could get some good results.
